Monster Hunter in League of Legends

Chapter 22: Forging Weapons, and a New Mission

Upon hearing Tarin's question, Rengar paused slightly, then nodded and said frankly, "Now that you're here, I have nothing to worry about. If there are no problems, I'm going back to the tribe."

"Wait a while before you leave," Tarin said. "I told you I would forge you a weapon."

Upon hearing this, Rengar hesitated for a moment, then asked, "Is it convenient?"

"There's nothing inconvenient about it."

As he said this, Tarin turned to Lupe and said, "Could I use the village blacksmith's shop? It would be a good opportunity for me to demonstrate my expertise in life abilities... the axioms of life."

Upon hearing Tallinn's words, Lupe raised an eyebrow, then said silently, "I've never heard of any axiom of life... but if it's just a blacksmith's shop, whatever."

Although he was skeptical about the identity of the Prophet of Tallinn, Lupe had a long history of studying the Primordial Axioms.

Lupe had never heard of any axioms about life—the Primordial Axioms are a rather sophisticated system of knowledge. If they cannot be reproduced through formulas, procedures, and deductions, then they cannot be considered axioms within the system of Primordial Axioms.

But Tallinn clearly had plenty of confidence.

The system born from Tallinn's very essence grants him the ability to be compatible with different worldviews. For example, Tallinn may not be able to sense the pulse of elemental energy, but he can clearly feel the pulse of life.

In Runeterra, magic is used to communicate with the elements, thereby manipulating natural energy. In the Monster Hunter world, monsters sense and control natural energy through special organs within their bodies.

Although the two are not entirely the same, through the accumulation of standardized techniques in Dragon Vein Alchemy and Dragon Vein Forging, in Tallinn's observations, the relationship between life energy and life is like the relationship between mathematics and physics.

Physics is the rule of nature, and mathematics is the grammar of the rule.

The relationship between life energy and life itself... can be described more vividly as follows: life is the shape and temperature of a flame, while life energy is the stoichiometry and conservation of energy that are followed during combustion.

This is understandable, and even learnable. However, the barrier to entry is quite high, and even among the dragon-people in the Monster Hunter world, whose lineage spans hundreds or thousands of years, few can fully master it.

But for Tallinn today, that's not a problem.

Don't ask if it's on or off; if it's not off, it's not on.

Meanwhile, Talin gradually noticed that the burst damage of the dual blades was not well-suited to the current version of Runeterra, and it was time to find a way to optimize it.

With that thought in mind, Tarlin followed Lupe toward the blacksmith's shop.

After a quick assessment, it was found that while the materials in the blacksmith's shop were simple, they all met Tarin's needs. Without further ado, Tarin immediately began forging.

During the process, at Tallinn's request, Lupe watched from the sidelines.

At first, Lupe didn't pay much attention, only wondering how convenient Tarin's 'spatial magic' was. He'd thought storing the corpse of a single void creature was the limit, but it turned out that besides the corpse, it contained so many other things of all sizes…

Although it was his first formal forging attempt, with the activation of the system's memories, Tarin became quite adept at it. And as the Odogaron form grew from eight meters to nine meters, the materials on Tarin's body also became stronger.

In about an hour, Tarin finished forging the Odogaron One-Handed Beast and called Rengar over, saying, "Here, this is for you."

Upon hearing this, Rengar also turned his gaze to the newly forged one-handed sword and shield resting on the heat-resistant leather.

Almost instantly, Rengar's eyes lit up when he saw it.

To be honest, Rengar doesn't like shields, but this one is an exception—its shield is shaped like a twisted beast face, giving the impression that it was directly peeled off and reshaped from the skull and claws of a grotesque dragon.

Its surface is covered with the Odogaron's signature scarlet and gray keratin layer, with several pairs of curved, sharp claws extending symmetrically from both sides. They curl outwards, forming a highly aggressive profile.

Rather than a defensive tool, it's more like a weapon of attack. Just by looking at it, Rengar could sense that for this shield, defense was merely a means to better tear apart the opponent.

If the shield is like this, then the blade must be even more so.

The sword blade was a direct imitation of the Odogaron's double-layered claws. It was twisted, irregular, and completely lacked any sense of symmetry. The blade was composed of multiple layers of keratin and hardened muscle tissue, exhibiting a flame-like, swirling shape.

Beneath the blood-red keratinous layer of the sword blade, faint dark red veins resembling dried blood could be seen. The edge of the blade was not smooth, but covered with fine serrations and barbs. Rengar could sense that for this sword, the purpose of slashing was not to cut, but to tear the flesh off the prey alive—pure ferocity, savagery, and uncontrollability.

Rengar wasn't exactly a polite person; once he confirmed that it was indeed forged by Tarin for him, he immediately took it in his hand.

Just as Nidalee gained the right to use the Vitality Orb, Tarin immediately chose to grant Rengar the right to use it as well.

The way Rengar wields the Odogaron One-Handed Sword differs from how hunters in the Monster Hunter world wear it.

Although he also wields his sword with one hand, Rengar has fixed the shield in his other hand directly to his left arm, with the curved and sharp claws facing outwards, giving the impression that it is more of a weapon used to tear apart prey than a shield.

After observing along the way, the weight, shape, center of gravity, and ecology of the one-handed sword were completely customized according to Rengar's physique, leaving room for future growth.

This left Rengar with a strange mix of emotions—even his father had never treated him with such sincerity…

However, Rengar wasn't one to dwell on things, so he simply kept these complex emotions to himself and quickly adapted to his new weapon.

Before long, Rengar also felt a strange pulsation on the sword and shield.

Noticing the thoughtful look on Rengar's face, Tarin said gently, "You can try to connect and resonate with the ecology of the Odogaron armor. Whether it's the primal magic within you or the physical strength you can sense."

Calling it the Odogaron Armor isn't entirely accurate, as it's simply a standard one-handed sword with some Odogaron materials added. Weapons made entirely from Odogaron materials are called "Flames of Hatred," and further quality upgrades result in "Hatred."

However, the name "Flame of Hatred" is somewhat abstract. To make it easier for Rengar to understand, and because this is the first mid-niche weapon created by Tarin based on its own ecology, Tarin simply calls it the Odogaron Armor.

Upon hearing Tarin's words, Rengar nodded and then began to concentrate, mobilizing the energy within his body to try and connect with the Odogaron Armor.

A moment later, sensing something, Rengar let out a low growl and then suddenly slashed at the wooden stake beside him.

The next moment, the wooden stake was cleaved in two by the barbed, single-handed sword of the Odogaron. The power was secondary; more importantly, along with the strike, a burst of flame exploded, instantly charring the wooden stake black.

Upon witnessing this, Rengar was merely surprised. However, having already experienced the fiery bursts from his twin blades when struck by Tarin during their previous encounter, he was simply astonished. Furthermore, lacking extensive knowledge of magic, he didn't dwell on it further.

On the contrary, Lupe, who was standing to the side, stared wide-eyed in disbelief after seeing this scene.

This is... a magical weapon?

Lupe's mouth dropped open as he looked at Tallinn beside him.

You should know that there are very few mages in this world, but even fewer are those who can forge magical weapons.

It's no exaggeration to say that a good magical weapon can increase a mage's power several times over—like the difference between an unarmed person and someone wielding a sword. A mage with a suitable weapon, whether a traditional staff or other weapons, is far superior to a mage who is unarmed.

Furthermore, it is quite common to choose magic of the corresponding element simply because there is a more suitable magical weapon available.

Not to mention, in Lupe's perception, this flesh-toothed beast named Rengar had never systematically studied the Primordial Axioms, but simply followed its instincts to control the primordial magic within its body.

Even so, it is still possible to unleash a fiery slash by connecting with the weapon...

"...Thank you." Although Rengar was not familiar with magic, he knew that similar weapons would be priceless in the open—at least many times better than his previous hunting knife.

After all, that knife was just a relatively sharp and heavy one-handed knife.

The sword and shield we have now, not to mention the power of the flames, the quality of the weapon itself far surpasses that of the hunting knife, and it will perfectly fit our body, like an extension of our limbs.

To this, Tarin simply waved his hand and said, "I know your personality, so there's no need to say too much... Be careful on your way back, and also take a Kha'Zix claw and a tooth with you. I don't need them, but consider them proof of your hunting skills to show the Fleshtooth Beasts in the tribe."

"Um."

Rengar nodded, took a claw and a tooth from Kha'Zix, and turned to leave. But then he stopped, turned back to Tarin, and said, "But no matter what, I, Rengar, will never forget this kindness and help."

"Um."

Seeing Tallinn nod, Rengar no longer hesitated and happily embarked on his journey home, carrying his brand-new weapon.

Meanwhile, seeing that Tarin had some free time, Lupe couldn't help but step forward and ask, "Your forging skills... are truly beyond expectations."

"It's alright, after all, it's all material from my own body."

Hearing Lupe's words, Tallinn nodded and then said calmly:

"My beast form is called the Odogaron. Although it is mainly characterized by strong limbs, it contains hidden firepower. Through the ecological reshaping of life energy—that is, through the application of the axioms of life—it is possible to connect with the strength of ordinary people."

"And this flame, born from life energy, is also closely related to the innate potential that Milio possesses."

Just as Tallin was speaking, a voice rang in his mind.

[Quest Name: Inspiring Milio]

[Quest Introduction: Help Milio understand the connection between life and fire, and awaken the Healing Flame - Tranquil Flame.]

[Task Reward: 1 Mid-Rank Attribute Draw Ticket]

Upon seeing the mission, Tarin paused for a moment, then added, "If you trust me, Lupeyoon, you can have Milio come and observe. I can show him some ecological phenomena between life and fire, which might help him awaken his talent."

"I couldn't ask for more." Upon hearing this, Lu Pei's eyes lit up.

Regardless of what Tarin's so-called "axiom of life" actually is, just the fact that Tarin demonstrated the skill of forging fire armor, if Milio could master it, would not only lead his family back to Ixokern and become a member of Yuntar, but also restore their past glory.

But at least it's enough for the family to use this ability to join other large elemental tower cities, thereby obtaining richer resources, allowing the family's offspring to have the ability to learn the Primordial Axioms, and to have the opportunity to become and nurture Yuentar again.

Thinking that his family's descendants might have a chance to rise again, Lupe disregarded whether Tarin was a prophet or not, and immediately called over Milio, saying, "Milio, this is Mr. Tarin. You will be learning magic from Tarin from now on."

Milio's face still showed confusion at being suddenly called upon. Now, hearing his grandmother's words, he subconsciously nodded and obediently said to Tarin, "Hello, teacher."

"Don't take it so seriously."

Tarin gently stroked Milio's slightly messy hair, then said, "I've heard that you don't quite understand some of the rules and regulations in the Primordial Axioms, and you tend to rely more on instinct to feel the warmth of the flames. And what I'm good at happens to be life and flames. If you're interested, take a look; you might make some new discoveries."

Hearing Tarin's gentle words, Milio blinked curiously.

Before this, his education on the primordial axioms was very rigorous, even somewhat rigid and boring. He was required to memorize them by rote, to remember them carefully, and to understand them thoroughly.

The naturally lively Milio always struggled to understand the connection between those cold, hard formulas and flames.

At the same time, he does not agree with the theory of the Primordial Axiom that fire can only be used for 'destruction', 'burning', and 'ruining'... There is an innate feeling that allows Milio to sense the power hidden in the firelight, and this feeling also allows Milio to sense the power contained in the fire called warmth.

Now that he heard Tarin associate fire with 'life' instead of 'destruction,' Milio became intensely curious and nodded enthusiastically, saying, "I'll be watching closely!"

"Um."

Tarin nodded, then prepared to forge Nidalee's Insect Glaive and his own new weapon.
