I am the Enchantress!

Chapter 3 My Second Spell

Based on his experience in the game, Wilder believed that he should follow up [Greasy] with [Fireball] to roast the kobolds into crispy jerky.

Unfortunately, he doesn't know how.

However, the fireball spell is not irreplaceable; there's a bunch of campfires right next to us.

As he was about to walk towards the campfire, Cyrion in front of him kicked a branch away from the fire, as if afraid the flames would leap onto the noodles.

Wilder then realized that this was a mission, and he couldn't burn things.

The reward for each kobold hunted is three silver coins, with the monster's left ear as proof.

Besides, although the kobolds don't have anything valuable on them, each complete scale can be exchanged for two silver coins, which is a decent extra income.

If they were burned to death, not to mention how many intact left ears would be left, the burned scales would also result in a significant loss of the reward.

Cyrion stepped forward, slamming his heavy shield down and slapping the small creature that was struggling to get up back onto the grease. The kobold let out a muffled groan and fell silent.

He stepped on that body, and with a loud "bang," he finished off the other one.

The dwarf Gru was more agile, walking as if stepping on stones on a noodle, but with each step, he would swing his long-handled battle axe, turning the stones he stepped on into pieces.

Lyle, who was still hiding in the treetops, had it much easier; one arrow and one kobold, the most efficient way.

Wilder watched his busy and cheerful teammates, unsure of what to do.

He possessed no offensive spells and had nothing but a short, crudely made dagger, so he seemed to be of little help.

Before long, nearly thirty kobolds on the oil noodles were all killed.

The next task was to clean up the battlefield, and Wilder joined in. His job was to cut off the left ear of each kobold with a dagger.

To be honest, even though the kobold was completely dead, its scaly ears and strong, fishy smell still made him want to vomit.

But each ear was worth three silver coins, so the pain became worth enduring.

A laborer can only earn two silver coins after a day's hard work, which is why so many people are still happy to do adventurers, even though the profession is so dangerous.

The battlefield has been cleaned up.

35 left ears of the dog-headed man, 105 silver coins.

25 complete scales, 50 silver coins.

Five low-quality gems, 25 silver coins.

Total of 180 silver coins.

"The teamwork on this mission went well. Gru and I faced the greatest pressure head-on, Lyle took down the most enemies, and Wilder also used a crucial grease trap."

Cyrion packed up all the spoils and began distributing the rewards. "As the captain, I'll take four shares, Gru and Lyle will take three shares each, and Wilder will take two shares. Does anyone have any objections?"

Wilder calculated that he would receive a full thirty silver coins.

It's more than what a laborer earns in half a month, and the task only took three days to complete.

Is that really so exaggerated?

He nodded silently.

Lyle and Gru had no objections. Without Cyrion's brass badge, they wouldn't be able to get any "easy" level missions, and besides, he was in charge of strategizing, so he deserved more.

Seeing Wilder's slightly serious expression, Gru assumed he was a little upset about receiving the smallest share.

"Little guy, adventures are always rewarded based on effort; you didn't lose out!"

He stood on tiptoe and patted Wilder on the shoulder. "Don't be impatient. Once you've mastered the second spell, you can get three!"

Wilder was taken aback.

He had no objection to the allocation, after all, he only used one [Greasy Technique] and didn't take too much risk.

only……

"I know a second spell," he blurted out.

Upon hearing this, Gru suddenly fell silent.

Cyrion and Lyle, who were talking to each other nearby, paused and looked at him cautiously.

Wilder was startled.

It seems I... said the wrong thing.

Adventure teams are usually formed temporarily by the association. Teammates may not know each other's personalities, but they must find out each other's strength and abilities in advance.

What if someone suddenly turns on their teammate during the adventure and takes all the rewards for themselves?

The missions were mostly carried out in remote, sparsely populated areas. If you went back and reported to the association that your teammates had been killed by monsters, no one could find any evidence.

Therefore, hiding one's abilities is a major taboo when adventurers form a party.

It now seems that the original owner deliberately concealed the fact that he could use the spell "oil the soles of the feet".

Although it wasn't for embezzling the reward, there was some ulterior motive involved.

After all, who would want to team up with a newbie mage who might run away at any moment?

but……

What should we do now?

Do you want to tell the truth?

Cyrion is a calm and meticulous human being.

Gru has a fiery temper and speaks his mind bluntly.

Lyle was taciturn, possessing the calmness and a touch of aloofness characteristic of elven blood.

This is the conclusion Wilder reached after observing his three teammates over the past three days.

But they are all low-level adventurers. Once they realize they have been deceived, will they really let themselves off the hook?

He wasn't sure.

Even if there's a 99% certainty that they're all good people, that remaining 1% chance could absolutely cost him his life.

You can't tell the truth.

You're going to lie!

He made up his mind, took a deep breath, and calmed his expression.

A thought suddenly occurred to me.

Unlock your specialization: [Actor].

"I'm sorry I lied to you, I do indeed possess a second type of magic."

Wilder was surprised by his own words; despite being terrified inside, he spoke with such calmness.

Is this what an actor's ability is?

His three teammates on the other side were not as calm as he was.

Cyrion calmly placed his hand on his waist, where his sharp one-handed sword was tucked. He hadn't had time to wipe it clean; it still smelled of kobold blood.

Lyle and Gru also took two steps back, their eyes becoming alert and focused.

"I'll perform for you."

Wilder was getting into the swing of things, experiencing a sense of ease and enjoyment akin to receiving applause on a stage, even flashing a somewhat charming smile.

"First, I'll pinch my nose with my left hand."

His teammates became even more nervous as he made the move.

Pinch your nose?

Could it be the mage's Stink Cloud spell?

That's a high-level spell; Wilder looks like a complete novice.

Wilder's tone remained calm and unhurried, even possessing a captivating charm, which prevented the three from immediately taking action to stop him.

"Then, pass my right hand through my left hand."

As he spoke, he extended his right arm from the loop in his left arm, keeping it taut and straight.

"so."

Wilder paused slightly, a charming smile, like that of a performer revealing a mystery, spreading across his seemingly harmless young face.

"I became..."

"An elephant!"

"This is my second spell."
