Hogwarts Summoning Guide

Chapter 4 Werewolves and Chinese Spells

Bai Lin held a sword in his right hand and the black walnut wand that was a free gift from his identity in his left. It was impossible for him not to be nervous. Werewolves are classic monsters that appear widely in various film and television works. Although their appearances vary, they are all bloodthirsty, brutal, and crazy.

As they entered the pitch-black forest, a group of emaciated Thestrals watched Bai Lin's figure curiously from afar. These creatures were relatively docile, and many were tamed to serve as chariot mounts for wizards. Riding them wasn't impossible, but it was a bit uncomfortable...

The Thestrals at the entrance of the forest were all old acquaintances of Hagrid, who had given each of them a name. Hagrid would notice if even one was missing. Bai Lin didn't want to upset the big guy, so he kept going into the depths of the Forbidden Forest.

Bai Lin didn't have a map of the Forbidden Forest, and the distribution of various creatures was quite complicated. It might be difficult to find unicorns, centaurs, or giants, but werewolves were very obvious. Bai Lin could hear many wolf howls from afar, which were a bit rougher than ordinary wolf howls, and had a thirst for blood. They often howled incessantly.

After crossing a maple forest and a river valley, the terrain became slightly higher. Bai Lin silently memorized the terrain. They had traveled seven or eight kilometers from Haige's cabin. Ahead was a small mountain, with dense oak trees over twenty meters tall growing along its slopes.

As soon as he stepped into the oak forest, the wolf howls stopped, and Bai Lin clearly felt that he was being stared at by several pairs of bloodthirsty eyes.

Bai Lin drew his longsword, feeling somewhat ashamed. He hadn't expected the werewolves in the Forbidden Forest to have such a strong sense of territory. Did they use infrared sensors to create a perimeter alarm?

What made him even more worried was that werewolves lived in groups. Perhaps they were a large family or a village when they were still human. In any case, several pairs of scarlet eyes lit up in the dark forest, emitting a faint red glow.

A dark figure darted out of the bushes at lightning speed. By the time Bai Lin reacted, the figure was already only ten meters away from him.

Bai Lin was extremely agile. With a side somersault, he dodged the dark figure and then saw that it was a werewolf with light brown fur.

The werewolves in the Harry Potter world are not like the strong, bear-like figures in Underworld or Van Helsing, but rather as thin as starving dogs in the wilderness, though their ferocious wolf heads are in no way inferior.

It was precisely because he had no physical disadvantage that Bai Lin dared to come to the Forbidden Forest alone. The werewolf roared and pounced, but what it met was a sharp sword. Bai Lin narrowly dodged the werewolf's fangs, but the sword did not cause any fatal injury, only slashing the werewolf's side.

Two more werewolves rushed out of the darkness and charged straight at Bai Lin.

This time, Bai Lin was smarter. Holding his wand in his left hand, he used "Stun!" on the werewolf charging in front of him. A surge of magic struck the werewolf on the head, and it was as if a huge stick had hit it on the forehead. The werewolf saw stars and fell to the ground.

The magic power gained through the encyclopedia can increase the power of magic. In a moment of desperation, Bai Lin suddenly discovered that he could actually speak spells in Chinese!

It's important to know that the spell system in the Harry Potter world is extremely complex. Wizards usually need years of practice to mobilize the magic within their bodies through cryptic and obscure spells and then release it through their wands. But Bai Lin's situation is completely different. He only needs to know the Chinese name of a spell—which is usually very simple and easy to remember—and as long as he has a wand, he can cast the spell.

Upon understanding this, Bai Lin was overjoyed. With such convenient abilities, wouldn't he be able to take off right away in the Harry Potter world? The only limitation for him was his magical attribute.

At that moment, the second werewolf pounced. Bai Lin twirled his longsword, showing no fear in the face of the werewolf, and slashed at the werewolf's neck.

If it were an ordinary creature or a human, they would definitely dodge Bai Lin's longsword. But the werewolf had already been driven mad by the full moon and completely ignored Bai Lin's sword. All he could think about was tearing Bai Lin to pieces.

The man and the wolf brushed past each other. Bai Lin slashed a foot-long gash in the werewolf's neck with his sword, almost beheading him, while the werewolf's claws also slashed across Bai Lin's chest.

Bai Lin was startled and thought to himself, "Damn it, this werewolf is unpredictable. Who would kill each other upon meeting?"

The werewolf collapsed to the ground, blood spurting from its neck. Bai Lin quickly looked down at himself and saw several claw marks on his cotton shirt, which was slightly torn. Fortunately, his skin was not injured, otherwise Bai Lin might have faced the risk of turning into a werewolf.

Bai Lin was both amused and exasperated when he saw that the thick illustrated book in the system interface was actually leaning against his chest, providing him with some defense and preventing the werewolf from disemboweling him. However, he quickly cast a "Protective Armor" spell on himself.

"What's there to be afraid of?" Bai Lin sealed the werewolf who was on the verge of death on the ground. At this moment, the werewolf who had just been knocked unconscious remembered to get up. Without hesitation, Bai Lin gave him a "Petrify All" and then sealed him with another move, as smooth as flowing water.

Two more werewolves charged out, like two young calves. Bai Lin dodged them while looking for an opportunity to cast a petrification spell on them. It has to be said that the petrification spell and the seal are truly the best combination. The two werewolves, who were not very strong, were KO'd by Bai Lin in less than five minutes.

Four werewolves were summoned, the werewolf encyclopedia was immediately lit up, magic power was increased by 2, and the summon beast was obtained: White Werewolf (Level 3, CD: 1:59:59). It seems that it cannot be summoned immediately.

Bai Lin's magic power increased to 15 (+4) (A young wizard with limited potential, I hope you can successfully advance to the fourth year). Looking at the steadily increasing magic power, Bai Lin was a little happy. But when he saw the comments in the encyclopedia, his lips twitched.

He thought the battle would last until dawn, but it was over in just half an hour. The other werewolves hid in the woods and dared not come out. Bai Lin was too lazy to provoke them. He took a breath and headed deeper into the Forbidden Forest. He was going to challenge the overlord of the Forbidden Forest - the Eight-Eyed Giant Spider (level 4-8).

The eight-eyed spiders in the Forbidden Forest were released by Hagrid without his permission. These creatures reproduce very quickly but have a very long lifespan. Hogwarts teachers and janitors have to go into the Forbidden Forest several times a year to remove the small spiders and prevent the entire Forbidden Forest from becoming a nest for the eight-eyed spiders.

A fully grown eight-eyed giant spider is the size of an elephant, covered in a hard carapace and black fur, making it extremely terrifying. Even more bizarrely, it possesses intelligence and can speak human language. Simply put, it's like the spider demon from the movie "A Chinese Odyssey."

After walking a few steps, Bai Lin found a small spider the size of his palm. He observed the surroundings for a moment and then ran off in one direction.

He traversed mountains and valleys, entering a somewhat dilapidated forest. Many trees were withered, and white spider webs were everywhere. Needless to say, this was the lair of the eight-eyed giant spider.
