Chapter 212 Personal Angel

Before he could even awaken, Caesar (Yefim) was waved away by Catherine and teleported out of the Celestial Cloud Palace. If all goes well, he will return to his village. With Caesar's strong, ox-like body and the help of the Order and Good faction, the revitalization of the village should be just around the corner.

Bai Lin looked at Catherine, or rather, the Star Angel Aphrina, and for a moment didn't know how to speak. He stammered, "I...I was almost scared to death...I thought you were really going to be killed by the angel statue..."

Catherine smiled slightly; she, too, was prepared to die. But Sifgar, standing nearby, chuckled and said, "Please! Big brother and big sister! We are the Dawn faction, representing the order and goodness of the world. How could we use such an inhumane sacrificial ritual? Big sister's process of offering her soul involves many trials of the soul and spirit; almost no one can endure such trials, but the trials themselves won't harm her!"

Bai Lin suddenly realized that if it involved sacrificing living people, it would seem more like the actions of the evil faction. However, most people were terrified by their own imaginations, and the growth of fear and doubt caused people to lose their firm beliefs. This was probably where the gods' disappointment in humanity lay.

Although Bai Lin did not believe that the gods' test was perfect, he was overjoyed that Catherine had passed the test and not only had she not died, but had also turned misfortune into blessing.

"Then... will you become an angel?" Bai Lin asked hesitantly, his feelings somewhat complicated.

Catherine smiled brightly and said, "What's wrong? Don't you want to lose me?"

Bai Lin could no longer hold back and stepped forward to hug Catherine tightly. He could feel that Catherine was still conscious and that the angel in front of her was still his lover.

Catherine hugged him back, her wings enveloping them both. Her armor transformed into a gossamer-thin robe, and she whispered in Bai Lin's ear, "Don't worry, even if I become an angel, I'll still be your personal angel. Don't even think about leaving me."

Looking at the two of them so affectionately, Sifugar said with a sigh, "Human love is so strange... I don't understand it... But you don't need to worry. After the eldest sister and sister Aurina merge, she will only retain her original consciousness. Sister Aurina has given up her knowledge, divine power, and all her beautiful emotions. She is not going to do anything selfish like possessing a body..."

Bai Lin once again showed great respect for the Star Angel Aphrodite, but Catherine continued, "Keri, you'll probably have to return to the Dawn Vault. Krum is about to collapse!"

Bai Lin was taken aback, but Catherine didn't say much to him. She waved her hand to teleport him, saying, "Remember, I'll always be by your side!"

Bai Lin felt his body lighten, then everything went black. When he opened his eyes again, he found himself back in the underground treasure vault filled with the corpses of villagers, and a burst of magical energy was coming straight at him.

"Oh my god!" Bai Lin didn't care about his image. He ducked and rolled on the ground. A violent explosion came from above his head, and flames shot into the sky. If he had hesitated for even a moment, he would have been hit directly. He recognized it as black magic - Thunder Explosion.

Upon closer inspection, the entire hall had been plowed by various forms of dark magic, with debris, fire, and a blackened floor everywhere. The surrounding guardian statues were mostly destroyed, and the massive platform was riddled with craters.

At each end of the hall stood a person: on one side was Krum, badly injured and disheveled, and on the other was Barnard, who looked like a bear. It was unclear how he had retrieved his wand, but he had clearly gained the upper hand.

When Barnard woke up, he was ready to run away immediately, but when he looked at the hall, he was amused. All the Spellbreakers were dead, Bai Lin and the portal were gone, and his "Night Orb" was still floating in the center of the hall. There was only one "hothead" in the whole place who was tearing off the equipment of the Spellbreaker soldiers.

Barnard pulled out a spare, specially made short wand from the inside of his belt—many bloodthirsty dark wizards would carry several in case of emergency, hoping to catch the "hothead" off guard. However, he found that the opponent was actually quite strong, and had noticed him in time and made an evasive move when he got up. His Crucifixion spell missed completely.

The two exchanged spells across the central platform. Barnard had just been hit by the petrification and stun spells. Although he had been awakened early thanks to his strong physique and magical abilities, his arm was still somewhat unresponsive, and his aim was not as good.

However, since Barnard's magic power was far superior to Krum's, and he had learned more types of spells than Krum, the two initially clashed. But after more than ten rounds, Krum gradually ran out of magic power and fell into a disadvantageous position, having to rely on obstacles to dodge.

Bai Lin's sudden appearance startled Barnard, but his evil intentions led him to throw a Thunder Explosion, intending to knock Bai Lin out on the spot while he was still confused after being teleported.

When Bai Lin saw Barnard's pale and stiff arm muscles due to the petrification curse, he couldn't help but laugh. No one understood the feeling of the petrification curse better than Bai Lin. Barnard definitely couldn't use the Apparition spell, which required precise casting, so there was no reason for him to let this major threat escape from this place.

"Krum!" Bai Lin shouted, then gestured to Krum from an angle where Barnard couldn't see, signaling him to flank from both sides and block the exit.

Krum understood and quickly ran towards the entrance. Barnard was instinctively drawn to Krum, pointed his wand, and unleashed another thunderous explosion.

It wasn't that Barnard had a particular fondness for this move, but rather that the Thunder Explosion was like a grenade, requiring less precise aiming and allowing for area-of-effect attacks. In contrast, the Killing Curse, which required a high degree of concentration, was somewhat beyond Barnard's capabilities after just recovering from unconsciousness.

Krum, with his superior athleticism, managed to dodge the center of the explosion, but was still thrown to the ground by the shockwave. Despite his bleeding head, he got up and continued charging, successfully making his way to the entrance of the hall.

Barnard was about to launch a second attack when Bai Lin raised his hands from behind. Bai Lin was not planning to surrender; a ball of dark magical energy had already condensed between his hands, which was Bai Lin's signature move, Shadow Arrow Rain.

Dozens of shadow arrows rained down on Barnard, bombarding his area. Barnard's face contorted in rage as he desperately erected a shadow barrier. The shadow arrows struck the barrier, failing to penetrate it, but Barnard felt immense pressure, as if a giant hand was pressing down on him, forcing him to kneel on one knee.

As the Shadow Arrow Rain ended, Barnard finally breathed a sigh of relief. He roared, and his body emitted a dense black aura, as if countless tiny black tentacles were surging across his body.

"Um... I've really never seen this spell before..." Bai Lin felt a very dangerous aura. Bai Lin had never seen Voldemort, but he felt that the sense of danger that Barnard was giving him was no less than that of Voldemort.

He was on high alert, gathering as much magic power as possible. He planned to use a disarming spell to fight Barnard again the moment his spell was cast. He didn't believe that Barnard could still win in his current state.

Barnard growled like a beast, and instead of waving his wand, he directly condensed a ball of emerald light from the center of the black aura surrounding him, which was terrifying. Barnard stared intently at Bai Lin, the killing intent in his eyes was so real that hatred, resentment, curses and all kinds of emotions were transformed into invisible magical power in this spell.

Then the light shot out an extremely powerful magical energy. In that instant, Bai Lin almost saw Death smiling at him. It was an enhanced version of the Havada Kedavra curse.

Bai Lin roared, "Abolish your weapon!" He pushed with both hands, unleashing the last of his magic power to its limit. A red lightning bolt shot from his palms, meeting the green spell.

Surprisingly, the two spells did not intersect, but passed each other by, as if they formed two parallel lines of light in the air.

Bai Lin gritted his teeth, but his heart had already plunged into an icy abyss of winter. Death seemed to be standing before him, already swinging its scythe, but he was engrossed in casting a spell, his body as heavy as lead, unable to move. He could only watch helplessly as the energy shot towards him. In that 01 second, he felt time stretch out dramatically. He had no time to think, because the terror and darkness of death filled him with unbearable loneliness, coldness, and fear…

Barnard, completely ignoring Bai Lin's red magical energy, seemed to already see the Killing Curse utterly destroying Bai Lin's soul, sending him sprawling to the ground. He was overjoyed, having not only eliminated an enemy but also removed the greatest obstacle to his path to domination. (In the original books, the Killing Curse only ejects the soul from the body and binds it near the wand used to kill. This explains why, in the original story, during Harry's battle with Voldemort, Potter's parents and Cedric, who were killed by the Killing Curse, were able to use their soul power to save Harry from being instantly killed.)

At this critical moment, the terrifying cyan energy was blocked less than a meter in front of Bai Lin. A shield made of golden light suddenly appeared in front of Bai Lin. The gorgeous patterns on the shield were lifelike. The energy of the Death Curse was like a high-pressure water gun hitting concrete. The terrifying death energy scattered everywhere, but in the end it did not break through the golden shield and hit Bai Lin.

To Bai Lin's surprise, a little angel with wings appeared before him. It was none other than Sifugar, who waved her cute little arms and opened the holy golden shield.

Catherine's voice rang in Bai Lin's ears: "I told you, I'm your personal angel! Although I can't appear in the real world right now, I can have Sifugar help me cast some divine spells. This Holy Shield spell seems to have worked!"

Before Bai Lin could reply, Barnard was already hit by his own disarming spell, but the black aura around him perfectly protected his body. At this moment, he suddenly became expressionless, his eyes were empty, as if he had suddenly become a different person.

"Ah, he's completely controlled by the power of the night sky! You can subdue him with the Night Orb!" Sifugar shouted, but while she was chanting the slogan, her body was timid, and she cowered behind Bai Lin.

Bai Lin turned around, and the Night Orb was right in front of him. He reached out, and the Night Orb flew directly towards him under the power of the recall spell. Bai Lin grabbed it, but the Night Orb seemed to be in some special state and did not directly teleport Bai Lin to the Night Mentor's domain.

Bai Lin looked at the magic orb in his hand and asked, "What should I do?"

Sifgar called out from behind him, "How should I know! You're the one from the Night Sky faction!" Catherine couldn't help but agree that Sifgar's retort was spot on.

"What?" Bai Lin was completely bewildered. He looked at the magic orb in his hand, made up his mind, and shouted, "Old man, I know you can hear me. Either choose me or choose him! Eliminate his Night Sky Power!" He directly addressed the Night Mentor. He recalled the appearance of the Night Mentor. Usually, it was a human body, usually, it was a skeleton. No matter how you looked at it, it was not a kind person. And just like the complexity of the Chaotic Good Faction, the Night Mentor was also a combination of two not-so-harmonious characteristics.

He would support the relatively benevolent Bai Lin, gifting him a precious book of dark magic. He would also teach some secret arts to the chaotic Barnard. Bai Lin was now forcing him to choose one, otherwise Bai Lin might abandon the Night Sky faction and join Lulu's Judgment faction. (Compared to the Dawn faction's holiness and perfection, Bai Lin admired the Judgment faction's decisiveness and ruthlessness more.)

The light of the Night Orb flickered, and suddenly, as if it came to life, or like a golden snitch, it gained its own consciousness and flew straight out, landing in front of Barnard.

Barnard still looked bewildered, but his face kept twitching as he stretched out his hands as if to receive the Night Orb. It was as if the Night Mentor had chosen him.

However, right before Bai Lin's eyes, the Night Orb stopped in front of Barnard's deep arm, causing him to grab at empty air. Then, as if encountering a vacuum cleaner, the black aura surrounding Barnard was instantly sucked into the Night Orb. The orb absorbed all the black aura and flew back to Bai Lin, hovering in mid-air, as if saying, "See? I took care of him for you! Praise me, praise me!"

Bai Lin rolled his eyes, waved his hand, and the small box that Barnard used to store the Night Orb flew over, put the Night Orb inside, and stuffed it into the system space.

Obtained special item: Night Orb (symbol of the Chaotic Good alignment, with the Soul Master Night Sky residing within). World Development Level 5, Current World Development Level 15. Bai Lin was taken aback by the system notification. He hadn't expected the Soul Orb to increase World Development Level. He didn't know what would happen once World Development Level was full, but he had a premonition that something extraordinary would occur.

Barnard, having lost the power of the night sky, stood frozen in place. His senses returned, but the pain of depleted magic quickly overwhelmed him. Seeing Bai Lin, who was engrossed in checking system messages, Barnard suddenly pulled out a dagger and threw it at Bai Lin like a throwing knife.
