Hogwarts Summoning Guide

Chapter 213 Building an Ivory Tower

"Watch out!" Krum shouted, and at the same time, a petrification spell was released from his hand, hitting Barnard squarely. Barnard was instantly paralyzed, as if he had turned into a stone statue.

The dagger failed to harm Bai Lin. A wizard with a magic power of 104 would maintain the protection of his armor during battle, so how could he be injured by a mere dagger? This gleaming silver dagger not only failed to harm Bai Lin, but even bounced off his protective armor.

The petrified Barnard watched helplessly as the dagger flew back and pierced his left chest...

……

Bai Lin and Krum separated the bodies of the tragically killed villagers and spellbreakers and buried them in the frozen soil of the mountains. Then, they used magic to completely collapse the passage to the Dawn Vault, preventing Muggles and wizards from accidentally entering and disrupting the tranquility of the Dawn Temple once again.

Bai Lin didn't know Catherine's whereabouts, but she could whisper in his ear whenever he wanted. Catherine gave him some patience; she wasn't imprisoned in the Dawn Orb, but rather, after receiving the divine power of the Star Angel Aphrina, she simultaneously inherited the responsibilities of an angel.

Bai Lin fully understood Catherine's situation. This hasty trip, without stopping, finally exceeded the predetermined goal. However, the fact that Yakov died tragically and could not be resurrected added a lot of shadow to the hearts of the group.

The Aurors of Siberia will find Barnard's body, and the train bombing will be solved. They also made a side trip to the village of Yefim, the Son of Dawn, where he has gained the villagers' acceptance and started a new life. Bai Lin believes that he will surely create a bright future.

It was three days later when they returned to Hogwarts. Bai Lin was still struggling with how to pay Karkaroff his "reward," but Krum very straightforwardly asked Bai Lin to split the captured Spellbreaker equipment 50/50 with him.

Bai Lin generously agreed, after all, the most "valuable" equipment—the 98K and two rune revolvers, as well as Caesar's rune armor and rune prosthetics—were all stored in the system space as personal items by Bai Lin. As for the other spellbreaker soldiers, even the equipment of those six elite soldiers, Bai Lin no longer cared about them. He would just throw them into the furnace if he got them, since wizards couldn't use them. Wearing them would restrict their communication with magical energy, thus preventing them from casting spells, which would be equivalent to turning wizards into Muggles.

Back at Hogwarts, Bai Lin finally managed to calm down the tearful Yu Qian, but Catherine's whereabouts were hard to explain, so for a while Bai Lin had to avoid Maxim...

With the equipment of the Spellbreaker and the Night Orb, Bai Lin led his team into the habitat immediately and found the old craftsman Edison. With his help, Bai Lin placed the Night Orb on the mountaintop in the center of the habitat.

Amidst the astonished gazes of the crowd, the Night Orb released a large amount of black smoke, which enveloped the entire mountaintop. Then, the half-human, half-ghost Night Mentor emerged from the smoke.

"Ah!" Yuxi hid behind Bai Lin, clearly frightened by the Night Mentor's appearance. Hagrid and Zobi also took two steps back, drawing their wands and standing ready. Only Kiki stared wide-eyed, looking very curious (in Egyptian thought, the concepts of death and skeletons are different from those in mainstream Western culture, which is why Cairo, the "City of the Dead," exists).

"Aha!" The half-human, half-ghost Night Mentor stretched his limbs as if he had been locked in an oil lamp for thousands of years, but his appearance and movements were strangely comical.

"This is the real world! I almost forgot that the real world even exists!" Night Mentor exclaimed.

Bai Lin shrugged, thinking: This is just the habitat of the encyclopedia system, and it can't really be considered the real world. At most, it's a spatial rift in the real world.

"Night Sky! Old friend!" the old craftsman called out as he stepped forward, his tone filled with joy, as if he had a deep friendship with the Night Mentor.

The Night Mentor stared at him for a long time before tentatively answering, "Hephaestus? It's you? You... you've fallen so low!"

The surrounding team members were startled by the Night Mentor's words. Who is Hephaestus? He is the famous god of blacksmiths and fire in Greek mythology, one of the twelve Olympian gods, and a powerful god on par with the sun god Apollo.

Hephaestus's deeds are full of twists and turns, but his craftsmanship was unparalleled. He built magnificent palaces for the gods. He crafted the Aegis shield for Zeus, the Dionysian staff for Dionysus, the sun chariot for Helios (who later merged with Apollo in mythology), golden and silver arrows for Eros, invulnerable armor for Achilles, son of Thetis, and even sculpted Pandora from clay. He created the metal giant Talos, forged the chains that bound Prometheus, and split the head of the aching Zeus with an axe, thus giving birth to Athena, the goddess of wisdom and war.

Such a powerful being, even among the gods, had become the ordinary-looking old craftsman before them.

Addison waved his hand and said, "Just call me Addison. I'm just some of Hephaestus's remaining memories from Earth, merged with a human who accidentally arrived in this world. But I still remember you, Night Sky!"

The Night Mentor seemed to be lost in memories, and soon he became so excited that he danced around wildly, almost like a madman, which startled everyone. Bai Lin had seen him so excited before, so he was used to it. He stepped forward and said, "Gentlemen! You have plenty of time to reminisce, but can we talk about business first?"

Addison and the Night Mentor both glanced at Bai Lin. They didn't use their seniority to scold Bai Lin, because equality was also a characteristic of the Chaotic Faction. Without challenging authority and disregarding order, one would not become a member of the Night Sky Faction.

Addison shrugged and said, "This kid wants to advance in magic. I'm planning to build an Ivory Tower. Since he's on your side, he needs your help."

The Night Mentor floated in the air and circled once before finally agreeing to let Bai Lin and his team go down the mountain to see for themselves how they were creating a spectacle.

Hagrid has released many animals from the Pokédex, and now the team members and a large group of magical creatures of all kinds have gathered by the lake, which glows with a faint green light, watching from afar what is happening on the mountaintop.

At the mountaintop, the Night Mentors flew freely, continuously spewing out thick black mist from the Night Orbs. The black mist then condensed into several black "comets," trailing long tails as they circled around the mountaintop.

The old craftsman stood steadily in the center of the black comet. He shouted and raised his left hand, pointing to a comet. He extracted pure magical energy from the comet and then pointed it above the Night Orb. The magical energy materialized in mid-air, turning into many obsidian-like stones.

As the old craftsman cast his spell, the stones seemed to be grasped by an invisible hand and formed the base of a building in mid-air.

Yuqian, arm in arm with Bai Lin, gazed in amazement at the changes atop the mountain, exclaiming, "Isn't this building they built enormous?"

Bai Lin was also amazed. In the blink of an eye, a base of several hundred square meters had been built in mid-air on the mountaintop. But it seemed that they were not satisfied with this scale at all. It was as if they wanted to build a castle or even a town floating in the air.

"Those two old guys are quite energetic... They probably won't be able to finish this job anytime soon." Bai Lin estimated in his mind that it would probably take the old craftsmen and Night Mentor a week to a month to build something of this scale. They couldn't just stand here and watch for a month.

Hagrid suddenly slapped his forehead and said, "We can't stay here forever. Dumbledore told me to inform you that the third match of the Goblet of Fire is in three days. You need to prepare well!"

"Is it still a maze?" Bai Lin asked directly.

Hagrid's eyes widened. "You knew?... How did you know? Dumbledore strictly forbade me to reveal this! Did I talk in my sleep? Or... do you possess some kind of mind-reading ability even more powerful than Legilimency?"

"What are you guessing for?" Bai Lin rolled his eyes and said, "I wish I had that ability. Has anything unusual happened at Hogwarts or the Ministry of Magic lately?"

Hagrid seemed to struggle with his conscience for a moment, but finally made up his mind and said, "Since you're doing this to deal with Voldemort, Dumbledore shouldn't blame me... Because of the unexpected incident during the second match, Dumbledore managed to refuse the Ministry of Magic's full authority, but Hogwarts really didn't have enough manpower and resources to complete the preparations for the match as planned. However, Director Crouch's men are all under Dumbledore's supervision... Moody is keeping a close eye on them!"

Bai Lin had guessed it too. There was no one more suitable as the overseer than Mad-Eye Moody. In the original story, Dumbledore invited him to oversee Death Eaters like Karkaroff who had been redeemed. His insight and experience were sufficient to handle the current situation.

Bai Lin really wanted to go to the maze in advance, but Hagrid absolutely disagreed, so Bai Lin had no choice but to give up. After all, he didn't have any real evidence to prove that Voldemort would use the maze to achieve his goal, and the Triwizard Tournament still had to continue, so he could only adapt to the situation.

Back at Hogwarts, Hagrid left in a hurry, while Bai Lin was happy to have some free time. Dumbledore wouldn't assign him any work related to the competition preparations, but the other staff were incredibly busy. It was said that even Snape had to work overtime.

Finding a rare moment of free time, Bai Lin invited Qi Qi over. Ever since returning from the battle in the deep sea, this girl had been listless and lethargic, wanting nothing more than to sleep. She had completely lost her previous mental and physical condition. However, her attitude towards Bai Lin had changed dramatically.

Their initial encounter was a case of "enemies becoming friends," and they only turned from enemies to friends after Kiki was rescued from Caesar's clutches. To repay Bai Lin's kindness, or perhaps because she had nowhere else to go in the world, Kiki joined Bai Lin's team and fought for him. But after that painful yet somewhat romantic experience underwater, Kiki unexpectedly discovered a kind of romantic feeling.

Although she didn't seem very energetic, when Qiqi entered Bai Lin's room, she was filled with the shyness and fluttering heart of a young girl. The look in her eyes when she looked at Bai Lin was no longer that of a comrade-in-arms, but rather filled with admiration and affection.

"Captain? Is something the matter?" Qiqi walked to Bai Lin's side. Although she was young, she was tall and slender. She was so close that she almost touched Bai Lin's arms.

However, Bai Lin dared not have any wild thoughts at this moment, because his purpose was to have Catherine help Qi Qi recover her lost right leg. With the Empress watching him from a place where she couldn't see, how could he dare to attract any more attention? Just You Qian, Yan Ni Shuang, and Lulu were enough to give him a headache.

"To make a long story short, I have a way to restore your leg!" Bai Lin said bluntly.

Qiqi could hardly believe her ears. Startled, she rushed forward and grabbed Bai Lin's arm, saying excitedly, "Captain... Captain, you mean... you mean you can heal my leg?"

"Yes!" Bai Lin could understand her excitement. If one could restore their limbs, who would want to have a mechanical leg, even the most sophisticated magical prosthetic?

"Not some better prosthetic limb? But to let my leg grow back?" Kiki was so excited that her body was trembling and her heart was racing.

Bai Lin grasped her arms, making him sit on the edge of his bed to reassure her, and said, "It's Catherine. She's learned very powerful healing magic, but she can't show herself right now... The situation is a bit complicated... Lie down first, take off your magical prosthetic limb, and I'll have her heal you!"

Qiqi stared at Bai Lin, then suddenly thought of something and blushed deeply. However, she didn't hesitate and directly unbuttoned her pants in front of Bai Lin.

Bai Lin suddenly understood why she was blushing. Obviously, when she was disassembling the prosthetic limb, her private parts would be exposed. However, at this moment, Bai Lin could only bite the bullet and proceed. As a doctor, he had the heart of a parent, and he could only tell himself not to overthink things.

Qiqi's right leg was amputated high up, and many nerve-connecting components were inserted into the severed limb, which was a shocking sight for Bai Lin.

"Xiao Kai, can I cast the spell now?" Bai Lin asked silently in his mind.

"Yes! That should be fine. Hogwarts has plenty of soul energy, so there shouldn't be any problem!" Catherine's voice rang in his ears, but only he could hear it. "Open your palm, and I'll summon Sifgar!"

Bai Lin quickly cupped his hands together, and an intricate magic circle appeared on his palms. Sifgar emerged from the magic circle, flapped her wings, and happily circled around Bai Lin.

"Ah! Is this a little angel?" Qiqi exclaimed in surprise. Now she truly believed that Bai Lin could heal her. In her eyes, Bai Lin was a saint sent by the gods to save her.

Sifgar flew to Kiki and said in a very friendly manner, "Hello, I'm Sifgar, I'm here to heal you... even though you're a member of the Wild faction..."

As she spoke, the little angel took out a small magic wand with a star-shaped end and waved it haphazardly in front of her. Instantly, many golden dust particles appeared in the room and gathered around Sifgar's wand.

A sharp pain almost made Kiki faint. Sifugar said, "Some tissue needs to be removed; it might hurt a little, but it will be over soon!"
