Hogwarts Summoning Guide

Chapter 164 Two-Headed Night Shadow Dragon

This time, the surrounding crowd didn't gasp in surprise, but rather gasped in astonishment. The young warriors looked at each other, completely bewildered; they had never heard of such a fire dragon before. The three principals, however, were clearly much more knowledgeable, and they had already recognized the dragon's origin.

"A two-headed Nightshade Dragon! This thing is still here!" Dumbledore said in a deep voice. He had never expected that the mysterious cage brought by the Ministry of Magic was actually hiding this ancient monster.

Karkaroff's expression was also uncertain. In the past few days, he had used the Hogwarts classrooms to have Bai Lin teach his students a few lessons in dark magic. He admired Bai Lin's "erudition" and teaching ability. He really didn't want anything to happen to Bai Lin, but another voice in his heart hoped that Bai Lin would perish. If he did, the world would lose a master of dark magic, which would not be a bad thing for him.

Just as Dumbledore was about to announce the start of the match, Filch, who was hard of hearing, interrupted Dumbledore's signal with a cannon blast, startling everyone. Bai Lin wiped his sweat; it seemed that love hadn't cured Filch's hearing and brain.

However, Bai Lin didn't care what everyone was thinking. They weren't allowed to watch the other warriors fight either, to avoid copying their moves. For example, Krum used the "Eye Disease Curse" to temporarily blind the Fireball Dragon, thus quickly stealing the golden egg. If other warriors saw this trick and copied it, wouldn't that be unfair?

It is said that almost everyone cheated in this challenge. Everyone knew about the project in advance through various means and was prepared so that they wouldn't be scared out of their wits by the fire dragon and die instantly.

Bai Lin could only wait patiently in the preparation room, watching the other warriors leave one by one, followed by cheers from outside: "Challenge successful! Challenge successful!"

Unlike the chase and fight between Harry and the Hornet Dragon in the movie, he used his familiarity with the Hornet Dragon's body structure and his agility to successfully approach it. He climbed up the dragon's back along the bone spurs on its neck and, despite the Hornet Dragon's twisting and fire-breathing, used three Stunning Charms to hit the back of the Hornet Dragon's head, defeating the young Hornet Dragon almost by brute force. The entire audience was stunned.

Harry jumped off the drooping Hornet Dragon's back, dusted off his pants, easily grabbed the golden egg, and held it high above his head.

Finally, the entire audience erupted in thunderous cheers. Whether they were Gryffindors, Hufflepuffs, or students from other schools, everyone was impressed by Harry's fighting prowess as a fourth-year student and genuinely cheered and celebrated for him.

Looking at everyone's excited expressions, Harry suddenly felt that all his hard work had been worthwhile. After today, no one would ever say behind his back that he had cheated to qualify as a champion.

Eddie was the most enthusiastic among the crowd, because he had successfully bet on the winnings and won 6 Galleons, while Malfoy looked worried, probably because he had lost all his pocket money.

Because each battle had nearly an hour of preparation time, including cleaning up the scene, retrieving the dragon from the previous match, rearranging the scene, and putting the dragon for the next match in place, the first four matches lasted almost the entire day. It wasn't until evening that Bai Lin finally took the stage. However, he didn't see his opponent immediately. Instead, a group of Ministry of Magic staff and Hogwarts faculty members drove the students and some members of the public out of the Colosseum.

In the afternoon, Youxi secretly brought Bai Lin some beef patties so that he wouldn't be starving after waiting all day. When Bai Lin walked out of the preparation room while chewing on the meat patties, it was already dark outside. Braziers were lit around the arena, and in the middle of the chaos, there was a huge iron cage.

Inside the iron cage was a body encased in thick ice, a dark mass obscuring its form, but at least 60 feet long, far exceeding the size of an adult Hungarian hornet scorpion. The ice on the body was gradually melting, and the body began to tremble slightly.

"Kailin White!" Old Barty, standing in the opposite stands, shouted with a fanatical excitement, "I hope you don't regret throwing your name into the Goblet of Fire! Come on, face your opponent!"

With a wave of his hand, two wizards beside him cast a spell on the frozen body below. In the blink of an eye, the ice layer had completely melted into water, and the black body was revealed to Bai Lin and the judges.

It has two long necks like black pythons. Because they are hidden among the fine black scales, you can't find the location of its eyes. But its two blood-red mouths are slightly open and closed, and its messy and multi-layered sharp teeth are like those of a great white shark, which makes people's scalp tingle.

It has a pair of membranous wings that look like black rubber. When they first appeared, they seemed a little thin, but after coming into contact with the air, the wings seemed to be filled with energy and became visibly stronger with the pulsation-like vibrations.

"The Two-Headed Nightshade Dragon, it will be your nemesis, you arrogant brat!" Old Barty said with a ferocious expression, but the other judges, as well as McGonagall, Snape, Moody and others who remained at the scene, were all focused on this terrifying monster and did not notice Old Barty's crazy appearance.

"Looks like this will take some effort..." Bai Lin was not afraid at all and jumped off the field.

Seemingly "seeing" or "smelling" someone approaching, Nightshade Dragon raised both of its heads simultaneously, turning them to face Bai Lin.

"Let's test your mettle first!" Bai Lin raised one hand, and a black cloud instantly formed on his palm. It was the starting stance of his Shadow Arrow Rain. He had used this move many times in teaching and exams, so it was no secret. He showed the complete form of Shadow Arrow Rain to everyone without any scruples.

Dozens of shadow arrows, each nearly three feet long, condensed in the dark clouds and, driven by Bai Lin, pierced the Night Shadow Dragon's body like dozens of sharp swords.

However, a bizarre scene unfolded. One of the Night Shadow Dragon's heads lunged forward and suddenly opened its terrifying, blood-red maw. A vortex of black energy formed in its mouth, and dozens of shadow arrows that flew past were sucked into its mouth like pudding and pearls in milk tea.

Having swallowed the Shadow Arrow Rain, the Night Shadow Dragon seemed to have taken a super tonic. It shuddered and let out an angry roar. The sound waves were so powerful that Bai Lin quickly reached out to block, but was still knocked back several steps.

"Night Shadow Dragon feeds on dark magic, your tricks will only feed it! Haha!" Old Barty shouted, licking his lips.

This was the first time Bai Lin had encountered such a strange creature, or rather, it wasn't necessarily a naturally occurring being, but rather the product of experiments by some evil sorcerer—a terrifying, man-made monster. Perhaps it was an ancient, dark magic weapon similar to a magic cannon.

No one explained to Bai Lin in detail that after roaring, the two-headed Night Shadow Dragon leaped into the air, its giant wingspan reaching fifty or sixty feet. A golden egg, like a pendant, was hung on the Night Shadow Dragon's foot.

Besides the judges and Hogwarts teachers, there were more than a dozen wizarding employees from the Ministry of Magic in the stands, standing by to prevent the Nightshade Dragon from going out of control.

However, Night Shadow Dragon has clearly set its sights on White Scale, and it is unlikely to attack the other people in the stands before it has devoured White Scale.

Looking at its enormous body, Bai Lin suddenly felt an inexplicable urge to possess the Night Shadow Dragon. With such a mighty mount, fire arrows and the like suddenly seemed less appealing.

But whether it's sealing it or winning the game, that's something to do after defeating it. Right now, its other dragon head is taking a deep breath, clearly intending to give Bai Lin a deep breath as well.

As Nightshade Dragon unleashed a deep purple, lightning-shaped beam of light, Bai Lin had already set up a spatial barrier in front of him. Theoretically, this spatial spell creates a spatial rift, like cutting a notch in a piece of paper, completely isolating the inner and outer spaces. Any attack with certain physical properties cannot pass through this notch and attack anything inside the spatial rift.

However, Nightshade Dragon's purple lightning bolt clearly did not belong to "attacks with certain physical properties," but rather was a purely idealistic spell similar to the Havada Kedavra curse. White Scale's spatial barrier only lasted for about 05 seconds before shattering into fine fragments like a pane of glass.

Bai Lin could no longer care about being elegant. He rolled on the spot like a lazy donkey, narrowly dodging the deep purple lightning. With a loud bang, the place where he had just stood was as if it had been hit by an air-to-ground missile, blasting open a crater with a radius of four or five meters. The soil and rubble in the crater disappeared as if the seawater had evaporated.

Seeing the Night Shadow Dragon's immense power, Dumbledore and McGonagall were both sweating bullets for Bai Lin.

"Frost Arrow!" Bai Lin ran around the arena at high speed while pointing at the two-headed Night Shadow Dragon. Over a hundred magic powers transformed a blue-white magical energy into an ice spike nearly a meter long, which shot towards the Night Shadow Dragon's abdomen like a surface-to-air missile.

Old Barty sneered and muttered, "You arrogant brat, how could your ordinary ice possibly seal off the Night Shadow Dragon?" Clearly, he had anticipated that Bai Lin would believe, as he had seen at the beginning, that the Night Shadow Dragon's weakness was freezing, but the truth was quite different.

Faced with the flying ice spikes, the Night Shadow Dragon did not spew any defenses. Instead, it suddenly turned around and flung out its long tail, the end of which had a large bony tumor, somewhat similar to the tail of an ankylosaur.

The large bone tumor hit the flying ice spike with extreme precision, instantly shattering it. However, the Frost Arrow did not rely on physical impact, but rather on the frost energy attached to the ice spike.

The Nightshade Dragon visibly shivered, as its entire tail was covered in blue-white ice energy, and within a single breath, it was covered in a layer of frost.

However, the freezing effect did not take effect, and the white frost was only a fleeting moment. The Night Shadow Dragon breathed a purple flame at its tail, instantly clearing away all the icy energy.

Bai Lin didn't think that with his current magical power, those wizards from the Ministry of Magic could compare to him. So, the reason he couldn't subdue the Nightshade Dragon wasn't because he lacked magical power, but because he used the wrong method.

This was only the first challenge, and Bai Lin didn't want to reveal his summoning power too early. Moreover, he didn't want to expose either the Thunderbird or the Horned Dragon in front of Old Barty. So he could only use the Augur Fist at close range. However, the Nightshade Dragon was in the air, and Bai Lin couldn't reach it. Suddenly, he had a flash of inspiration. Since he hadn't heard Harry summon brooms to fight the Horned Dragon, he could use the broom summoning move himself.

While dodging the Nightshade Dragon's second wave of deep purple lightning breaths, he used a summoning charm to summon his flying broom, though the fire bolt was still left in Hagrid's hut and wouldn't arrive for a while.

Meanwhile, the Nightshade Dragon's lightning breath was relentlessly pressing forward, leaving nothing but barren land and ruins in its wake. Several times, it nearly struck Bai Lin's limbs, leaving Bai Lin terrified. This bizarre attack pattern was probably like the Fiery Curse and the Divine Sharpness, which could not be healed with white magic. It was a case of death upon impact and crippling upon contact. Old Barty had gone to great lengths to kill him.

Moreover, the Night Shadow Dragon's energy seemed inexhaustible. After absorbing just one mouthful of Shadow Arrow Rain from Bai Lin, it was able to continuously spew out seven or eight "Annihilation Lightning" (a name Bai Lin temporarily gave to its lightning), much like a mobile phone that can talk for two hours after charging for five minutes.

Every time Bai Lin tried to close the distance, it would be met with a powerful breath attack, forcing it to retreat repeatedly. Bai Lin would throw several petrifying and stunning spells at it from a distance, but these were like tickling, causing little harm to the Night Shadow Dragon.

However, there was always a glimmer of hope. When Nightshade Dragon realized that it had missed Bai Lin several times, it did not get angry. Instead, it noticed that there were other people in the stands. Suddenly, another head was pointed at the stands, and a deep purple flame, like a high-pressure flamethrower, shot out more than 30 meters away, heading straight for the judges' faces.

Dumbledore was startled and reacted first. He raised his wand, and a light blue shield appeared in the air.

As the world's most powerful magic user and the number one defensive magic user, Old Deng's shield could even block Voldemort's Fiendfyre spell, completely keeping the Nightshade Dragon's breath away from the stands. However, he soon discovered that his shield was being rapidly neutralized by the purple flames.

Fortunately, the Nightshade Dragon's breath attack ended before Old Deng's shield collapsed, though Old Deng was clearly sweating profusely. He looked back and saw that Old Barty and the Ministry of Magic officials had already vanished.

Seeing that the Nightshade Dragon was about to take another bite, Karkaroff snorted coldly and pointed his wand at the Nightshade Dragon's head, which was pointing directly at them. Three black ice blades, each containing a strong dark and evil power, formed a triangular shape and flew towards the Nightshade Dragon. This was a kind of ice-based black magic that even Bai Lin had never seen before.

"You can't use dark magic!" Maxim exclaimed.

But it was too late. The Night Shadow Dragon opened its mouth again and sucked in all three black ice blades, as if it had eaten three chocolate wafers.
