Struggling to survive at Hogwarts
Chapter 65 Weighing the Options
Another history of magic class.
Thea absentmindedly underlined the key points Professor Binns had mentioned in the book, but in her mind she was constantly planning her next move.
Based on the example set by her adoptive father, Thea concluded that she should never pretend to be well-behaved and innocent in front of that old man, especially since he was over a hundred years old and had the title of "White Demon King".
What her father did back then was this: he took twelve courses and got a perfect score in every one of them, and in the hundreds of years of Hogwarts history, very few people have achieved such results.
Every teacher who mentions him gives him a thumbs up!
But only Dumbledore remained wary of him. Why?
Because he was extremely averse to Muggles?
Because he started forming cliques while he was in school?
Perhaps it was because his extraordinary temperament and talent reminded Dumbledore of an old friend.
No, these reasons only account for part of the story. The biggest reason is that he is a product of aphrodisiacs, and he will never understand love!
So Thea learned her lesson and stopped pretending to be a good student. Instead, she revealed her talents at the right time. After all, she was the daughter of the Dark Lord. If she really had no ambition, wouldn't that make her even more suspicious?
Voldemort disdained love, but Narcissa showed her understanding of love, as did Narcissa, Lucius, Draco… and even Hermione and Harry…
These people are basically the evidence that Thea presented to prove the biggest difference between herself and Voldemort!
Similarly, these people are also the weaknesses that Thea reveals to Dumbledore.
After all, no one is invincible once they have a weakness!
Since they've benefited from the help I've provided, they should at least put their own interests to good use!
For example, could you be a witness for me?
Thinking of this, Thea's lips curled slightly.
As for what Thea should do this school year:
First, I will leverage the network I built up last academic year and my position as the leader of my study group to restrain discriminatory behavior from the other three colleges.
As for Slytherin? Thea thought about the prefects' attitude towards her and readily decided to suppress them directly with force and her status!
Voldemort discriminates against Muggle-borns, doesn't he? Well then, I'll treat them as equals and try to lessen Dumbledore's wariness of me.
Of course, Thea doesn't expect the old man to completely trust that she is a good person, but it's still necessary to establish an image of treating people as equals.
Secondly, there's the Chamber of Secrets incident in Slytherin.
To be honest, Thea didn't want to interfere with the plot. Those people were just petrified, not really dead!
Although it was a harsh statement, Thea really didn't want to risk her life to fight the basilisk head-on.
In her first year, in order to establish a kind and forbearing image in front of Dumbledore, she risked being discriminated against by Slytherins and by trolls to save Neville and Hermione.
No matter what, the trolls wouldn't completely threaten Thea's life. Either Thea would fight to the death, or she would have Professor X and Dumbledore to protect her.
But the Basilisk is different. It's practically a bug in the game. Even Dumbledore didn't know it existed at first. And it's incredibly powerful. Even Voldemort didn't deal with it alone until his fifth year.
Thea wasn't confident that she could kill the basilisk with her second-year physique and gun; she wasn't a savior.
Besides, the butterfly effect is a bit of a problem.
Thea couldn't guarantee that if she went against the plot and killed the basilisk first, there wouldn't be other challenges waiting for the savior later.
Back on the train in first grade, Thea prevented Hermione from meeting Ron and the others, but the Saviors trio was still formed!
Thea knew then that the course of events was difficult to change.
Anyway, it wasn't me who released the basilisk. If I rashly get involved, Dumbledore might even think I'm the culprit!
After weighing the pros and cons, Thea decided to let things develop as they were, protecting herself while waiting for the right opportunity to fish in troubled waters!
Finally, there's Daisy's problem.
Thea genuinely didn't want to involve her, just like she said in the principal's office, she's only 11 years old!
Others were forced to avoid it, but Daisy was different. Perhaps she was just a minor character in the book, but because of Thea, she became the focus of attention from various forces.
That would be a bit unethical, so Thea really wanted to transfer her to Beauxbatons, at least it's much safer there than Hogwarts.
As for Dumbledore, Thea could more or less guess what was going on. He simply wanted to add another layer of protection for himself, so that he wouldn't completely side with Voldemort in the end.
I should have known, Daisy is actually a Muggle!
So Thea followed Dumbledore's plan and went to his office to prove to him that Daisy was very important to her.
After organizing her plans for the semester, Thea turned her attention to the course content.
But after a short while, Thea began to flip through her textbook listlessly. She had already memorized what the professor was talking about last semester, so she was just reviewing it, which was naturally not as difficult as it was for others.
Over the next few days, Thea resumed her pace from the previous semester, shuttling between the library, classrooms, lobby, and dormitory, and occasionally curbing bullying among her classmates.
Slytherin was a hotbed of bullying, but after several of Thea's so-called "maintaining order" actions, the older, more perceptive Slytherins all tacitly became more discreet.
This impressed Thea. Putting everything else aside, Slytherin's ability to change their stance according to the wind was quite remarkable!
Peaceful days always pass quickly, and Slytherin's first Defense Against the Dark Arts class of the semester arrived as scheduled.
"I heard he's a writer, but how can a writer give us lessons? Are we just supposed to read dry books?"
As Thea and her friends stepped into the classroom, a Slytherin wizard closest to the door loudly mocked them.
Perhaps Thea's reputation for maintaining order these past few days has spread throughout Slytherin.
The poor little wizard's face drained of color the moment he saw Thea and the others enter, and he wished he could drag himself out and beat to death the one who had just loudly mocked the professor.
Thea wasn't actually angry; she was just a little surprised that this little wizard had accurately described the state of their fifth-year Defense Against the Dark Arts class!
Seeing the little wizard's pitiful appearance, Thea thought for a moment and then accurately called out his name: "Mr. Willock, your behavior just now was not in keeping with noble manners!"
Seeing that the boy's face was already red, Thea didn't say much. "The usual rule, Slytherin Rules 38, 42, and 89, copy each one... five times! Remember to hand them to me at this week's study group meeting."
“Thea, I can understand why you made him copy Articles 38 and 42, but what about Article 89: ‘Even a lion uses its full strength to hunt a rabbit, never underestimate anyone’? Does Professor Lockhart have some hidden ability?”
Daphne looked puzzled, and the others also turned their gazes toward her.
"You'll find out the answer to this question as you read on."
Thea paused for a moment, then asked in a surprised tone, "I didn't expect Daphne to not be fooled by the professor's appearance..."
Daphne retorted, "Not everyone will be attracted to his looks!"
"Oh~~." Thea deliberately dragged out the sound, which earned her a glare from Daphne.
