Shi Shaowei stared wide-eyed at Xu Hao, who was hanging by a thread in the valley, his pupils contracting sharply, his eyes filled with terror and despair. Just as he was about to collapse, a slender figure shot out like an arrow.

Su Qing's long hair fluttered as she sped along, her figure weaving through the mountains and forests, rushing towards the distant valley. She chose a straight path, crossing the ravine, each step treading on the edge of a cliff, with loose stones tumbling down into the abyss beneath her feet, but she paid no heed.

"Su Qing! Come back!! You can't go!" Shi Shaowei shouted hoarsely, his voice filled with despair and fear.

The shells are coming soon! Going now would be suicide!

Su Qing paid no heed; Xu Hao's image kept flashing through her mind. She recalled the focused look in Xu Hao's eyes as he made the pills for her, and the decisiveness with which he rescued her in the critical moment. The excruciating pain from the lightning zombie's attack piercing her chest still seemed to linger, and the feeling of Xu Hao's warm hand gently stroking her wound, the healing power flowing through her body, was still vivid in her mind.

At this moment, Xu Hao was on the verge of death, and Su Qing's heart pounded violently, each beat a testament to her resolve. She gritted her teeth, quickened her pace, and her eyes shone with unwavering determination.

"Xu Hao, I'm here!" Su Qing shouted in her heart.

"Watching my comrade die in front of me! That will never happen again! It was just a life, after all! I'll give it back to you!"

At this moment, Xu Hao, in the valley, looked at the Corpse King roaring and charging towards him in the distance, and forced himself to calm down. He took a deep breath, his right hand quickly forming a hand seal, a white light flashed, and a skeletal warrior with bare bones appeared out of thin air in front of him.

"Go!" Xu Hao shouted, and the skeleton warriors immediately raised their axes and charged towards the Corpse King.

Gaining a moment to catch his breath, Xu Hao looked down at the iron chain hook stuck in his ankle. Blood had already soaked through his clothes, and the pain made cold sweat break out on his forehead. He knew he had to pull the hook out as soon as possible to escape.

Xu Hao gritted his teeth, gripped the chain tightly with his right hand, and pressed his left hand around the wound. He took a deep breath and pulled hard!

"Ah!" The intense pain made Xu Hao cry out involuntarily. The hook was pulled out, along with flesh and blood, and blood gushed out immediately. Xu Hao endured the excruciating pain, ignoring the bleeding wound.

He watched the battle unfolding nearby with heightened vigilance, seeing the skeleton warrior charging towards the Corpse King, axes in hand. However, the Corpse King's strength far exceeded his expectations. It seized the skeleton's arm and easily tore it off. The sound of bones shattering was clearly audible. Then, the Corpse King stomped on the skeleton's skull, instantly reducing the entire skeleton warrior to a pile of scattered bone fragments.

Xu Hao's heart sank, realizing the situation was more critical than he had anticipated. After dealing with the skeletons, the Corpse King immediately turned its attention to him. Its eerie green eyes locked onto Xu Hao, filled with bloodlust.

The Corpse King approached with heavy steps, each step causing the ground to tremble slightly. It raised its enormous fist and slammed it down towards Xu Hao's head. The air was compressed, producing a sharp whistling sound.

In the nick of time, Xu Hao reacted swiftly, relying on the combat instincts he had honed on the Fama Continent. He rolled sharply to the right, feeling the wind of a punch graz his head. The Corpse King's fist slammed heavily into the ground, kicking up a cloud of dust and gravel.

Although Xu Hao acted quickly, the excruciating pain from his wound made it difficult for him to maintain his balance. He barely managed to steady himself, panting heavily, his back soaked with cold sweat.

Just when Xu Hao thought he was doomed, he suddenly noticed that the eerie red light on the Corpse King's body was gradually fading. Xu Hao instantly realized that the red poison effect that allowed the Corpse King to lock onto his location had disappeared.

Seizing this fleeting opportunity, Xu Hao, enduring the excruciating pain in his ankle, swiftly formed hand seals to cast an invisibility spell. His fingers deftly moved through complex hand gestures, and a pale blue light instantly enveloped his entire body. As the light dissipated, Xu Hao's figure gradually became transparent, finally blending completely into the surrounding environment.

The Corpse King was preparing to deliver a fatal blow when it suddenly discovered that its prey had vanished into thin air. It stood frozen, looking around in confusion, its heavy breathing punctuated by low growls. The Corpse King began frantically swinging its massive fists, attempting to strike the invisible Xu Hao, but every blow missed its mark.

Seeing its prey escape, the Corpse King's rage erupted completely. It roared to the sky, letting out a deafening howl that echoed through the valley. The Corpse King's eyes turned blood red, its muscles bulged, and it furiously smashed everything around it, trying to force Xu Hao to show himself.

Trees were uprooted, boulders were smashed to pieces, and the entire valley trembled in the wrath of the Corpse King. However, Xu Hao had already quietly retreated to a safe distance, temporarily escaping the crisis.

Although Xu Hao temporarily escaped the Corpse King's pursuit, this brief confrontation had already wasted precious time for evacuation.

He kept casting invisibility spells, moving rapidly while remaining invisible, each step causing excruciating pain in his ankle wound. Suddenly, a sharp whistling sound came from the distant sky—the sound of artillery shells tearing through the air, growing ever closer.

Xu Hao looked up at the sky and saw several black dots approaching at an alarming speed. His pupils contracted sharply, realizing that he could no longer escape the range of the artillery fire. Time seemed to slow down at that moment, and Xu Hao could clearly hear his own rapid heartbeat.

That's the only option I can try. I've never tried it before, it's a bit risky!

Meanwhile, Su Qing was running at full speed, her long hair disheveled by the mountain wind, and her forehead covered with fine beads of sweat. She crossed ravines and climbed steep mountain walls, each step taken with all her might.

However, when she heard the distant whistling of artillery shells, a wave of despair washed over her. She knew clearly that at her current speed, she could only reach the valley at most to collect Xu Hao's body.

The thought tore at Su Qing's heart, and tears welled up uncontrollably in her eyes. She gritted her teeth and forced herself to keep going, even though she knew it might be too late.

Shi Shaowei stood on a distant high ground, watching helplessly as everything unfolded. His hands were clenched into fists, his nails digging deep into his palms, yet he felt no pain. His gaze shifted back and forth between the valley where Xu Hao was and Su Qing running away, his heart filled with helplessness and self-blame.

"Why...why didn't I stop Xu Hao!...Why did we come to this damned place..." Shi Shaowei muttered to himself, his voice filled with pain and regret.

Am I really going to have to watch my comrades die right in front of me again?!

Shells rained down on the valley!

boom! boom! ! boom! ! !
