Xu Hao was panting heavily, fine beads of sweat forming on his forehead. He ran cautiously along the mountain path, occasionally glancing back to make sure the horde of corpses and the Corpse King were still hot on his heels. He deliberately slowed his pace, keeping the horde within his sight but not so fast that he would be overtaken.

Invisibility also requires talismans, and Xu Hao doesn't have many left.

As the entrance to the valley gradually came into view, Xu Hao quickened his pace. He nimbly leaped over pebbles and tree roots, guiding the horde of corpses deeper into the valley. The Corpse King let out a low roar, leading hundreds of rotting corpses in a stumbling throng.

Xu Hao dodged left and right on the narrow mountain path, occasionally unleashing fire talismans to attract the attention of the zombie horde and the zombie king. His breathing became increasingly rapid, and his legs ached from running for so long.

We can't stop. We need to lure as many zombies as possible into the valley, especially the zombie king.

Finally, after a sharp turn, Xu Hao saw the designated area. It was a long, narrow ravine, just big enough to accommodate the horde of corpses.

Xu Hao quickly scanned the surrounding terrain, silently calculating the time and distance in his mind. He took a deep breath, raised his right hand, and made a series of hand gestures towards Shi Shaowei on the distant hillside. First, he raised his index and middle fingers, then traced a line across his throat, and finally pointed to the sky. This was their pre-arranged signal, signifying that they could begin firing.

Standing on high ground, Shi Shaowei gripped his binoculars tightly, clearly seeing Xu Hao's gesture. His fingers stealthily moved towards the walkie-talkie, but stopped at the last moment. Through the binoculars, he saw Xu Hao still in the middle of the valley, at least several hundred meters away from the safe zone. The horde of corpses was close behind; the situation was extremely critical.

Shi Shaowei gritted his teeth, cold sweat beading on his forehead. He knew that once he gave the order to open fire, the entire valley would be razed to the ground. Artillery fire was merciless, indiscriminate in its use. Xu Hao would most likely be blown to pieces along with the zombies.

His finger hovered over the walkie-talkie button, unable to make a decision. Reason told him he should call for fire support immediately, but his comrades were still there!

Although Xu Hao had repeatedly assured him that he had a way to escape, Shi Shaowei still hesitated when the time came.

Time ticks by, and every moment of hesitation could have disastrous consequences.

Seeing that Shi Shaowei hadn't moved, Xu Hao grew increasingly anxious. He raised his right hand again, waving it forcefully, repeating the previous gesture. He drew his index and middle fingers together across his throat, then pointed to the sky. His movements were larger and faster, hoping to attract Shi Shaowei's attention.

On the hillside, Shi Shaowei clearly saw Xu Hao's urgent movements through his binoculars. He took a deep breath, closed his eyes, and pondered for a moment. Xu Hao had repeatedly emphasized that he had a way to escape; now was the time to trust his comrade. Shi Shaowei gritted his teeth, his right hand trembling as he pressed the button on the walkie-talkie.

"Calling command, this is a forward observation post, requesting fire support, target coordinates..." Shi Shaowei quickly recited a string of numbers.

The command center quickly confirmed the request. Shi Shaowei put down the walkie-talkie, gripped the binoculars tightly, and stared intently at the situation in the valley. He knew that it would take about five to ten minutes from the order being given until the shells landed, a period that would undoubtedly be a life-or-death test for Xu Hao.

Just then, the Corpse King suddenly stopped, its nose twitching as if it had sensed something. It abruptly turned around, its murky eyes fixed on Xu Hao not far away. Xu Hao's heart tightened; he realized he might have been exposed.

Unfortunately, the Corpse King's red poison status hadn't dissipated yet, so Xu Hao's invisibility spell was temporarily ineffective against it. And there weren't many zombies around the Corpse King at this point, not enough to form a human wall to block it.

The Zombie King let out a low roar and pounced on Xu Hao. Xu Hao hurriedly dodged, but although the Zombie King was slow, it was still far faster than an ordinary zombie.

In addition, the Corpse King, as a boss, also has his own unique skills.

The Corpse King let out a deafening roar, a barely perceptible glint of cunning flashing in its murky eyes. It slowly raised its right arm, revealing a rusty iron chain coiled around it. At the end of the chain was a sharp claw, gleaming coldly in the sunlight.

Xu Hao's pupils contracted sharply, instinctively realizing the impending danger. He quickly bent down, preparing to dodge to the left. However, the Corpse King moved even faster than he anticipated. The Corpse King suddenly swung its arm, and the iron chains shot out like cannonballs.

A piercing whistling sound filled the air as Xu Hao barely managed to twist his body, the chain whizzing past his ear. He breathed a sigh of relief, thinking he had escaped unscathed. But just then, the chain suddenly changed direction, coiling around him like a serpent.

Xu Hao hurriedly retreated, but lost his footing and tripped over some loose stones. That momentary loss of balance cost him his last chance to dodge. The cold iron chain precisely wrapped around his right ankle, its claws digging deep into his flesh.

The intense pain made Xu Hao gasp; he felt warm blood flowing down his ankle. The Corpse King roared triumphantly and began to retract its chains, intending to drag its prey to its side.

The surrounding horde of zombies began to converge on them. Xu Hao's heart pounded, and cold sweat poured down his forehead. He knew time was running out and he had to escape as soon as possible. But the Zombie King's power far surpassed his own, and for a moment Xu Hao was unable to break free, firmly trapped in place.

Shi Shaowei stood on the hillside, his hands gripping the binoculars tightly, his eyes fixed intently on the situation in the valley. He saw Xu Hao entangled in the Corpse King's chains, and suddenly felt a wave of dizziness wash over him. The binoculars slipped from his trembling hands and fell onto the rocks at his feet.

Shi Shaowei staggered back a few steps, his legs giving way and he collapsed to the ground. His breathing became rapid, his chest heaving violently, as if a huge boulder was pressing on his heart. Cold sweat instantly soaked his back, the damp, chilly touch sending a shiver down his spine.

His mind went blank, and the horrific image of Xu Hao being torn apart by the horde of zombies kept flashing before his eyes. Shi Shaowei shook his head violently, trying to dispel these terrifying hallucinations. His fingers unconsciously scratched at the ground, his nails scraping against the rough rock, leaving several bloody marks.

Shi Shaowei forced himself to calm down, his hands trembling as he picked up the binoculars again. He stared intently at the situation in the valley, hoping to witness a miracle of Xu Hao's escape. However, the harsh reality sank his heart to the bottom.

His throat tightened, and he swallowed hard. Shi Shaowei knew that artillery fire was about to engulf the entire valley, and his comrades were still trapped there. Regret and self-blame overwhelmed him like a tidal wave, and Shi Shaowei felt a strong dizziness, almost fainting.

Xu Hao!!! No!!!
