Li Jin jolted awake in the darkness, groggily opening the door. "Sophie's been kidnapped?!" He instantly snapped awake, his heart tightening at the sight of Xiao Mei's panicked expression. "What happened? Tell me slowly!"

Xiao Mei took a deep breath, trying to calm herself down. "I...I just saw a man in black take her away! Xiao Bai chased after him, but...but then we lost contact!" As she spoke, Xiao Mei's eyes reddened, and tears welled up in them.

"The man in black? That damned Lin Na!" Li Jin gritted his teeth and slammed his fist on the doorframe. The unusually peaceful life of the past few days had made him lower his guard; he hadn't expected Lin Na to make her move at this time! "What does it mean that Xiao Bai has lost contact?"

Xiao Mei sobbed as she explained, "Xiao Bai had a tracking talisman I made, but... but the signal suddenly disappeared just now, and I don't know what happened..."

"The signal's gone? Could it be..." A sense of foreboding washed over Li Jin. Could Lin Na have set a trap? He dared not think any further and quickly said to Xiao Mei, "Don't cry! Now is not the time to cry! We have to go save her right now!"

"Okay!" Li Jin and Xiao Mei immediately set off, chasing after the direction where Xiao Bai had disappeared. Along the way, Li Jin kept comforting Xiao Mei, while silently praying in his heart: Sophie, please be alright!

Following the faint residual signal, the two arrived at a dense forest. The trees towered into the clouds, blocking out the sun, and an eerie atmosphere permeated the air.

"This place... feels so eerie..." Xiao Mei gripped Li Jin's sleeve tightly, her body trembling slightly.

Li Jin also felt a sense of unease. He gripped the dagger in his hand tightly and cautiously looked around. "Be careful, there might be an ambush here."

Suddenly, a cold wind blew by, rustling the leaves as if something was watching them from the shadows. Li Jin and Xiao Mei stood back to back, nervously watching their surroundings.

"Who's there?!" Li Jin shouted.

His response was a chilling laugh. Immediately afterwards, a group of men in black sprang from the woods and surrounded them. These men wore black cloaks and masks, obscuring their faces, but the murderous aura emanating from them suggested they were no benevolent individuals.

"Who are you people?!" Li Jin asked sternly.

"Hmph, the one who'll take your life!" a man in black sneered, his hand gleaming coldly. "Surrender obediently, and you might suffer less!"

"Trying to catch me? Not so easy!" Li Jin sneered, knowing a fierce battle was inevitable. He shielded Xiao Mei behind him and whispered, "Xiao Mei, protect yourself!"

"Yes!" Xiaomei gripped the staff tightly in her hand, her eyes resolute.

The battle was about to erupt. Li Jin, brandishing his dagger, charged into the enemy ranks like a tiger descending a mountain. Although he hadn't learned any advanced skills yet, thanks to the superhuman physique and combat instincts granted by the system, he was still able to move with ease among the men in black. He punched and kicked, each move deadly, each attack taking the life of a man in black.

However, the number of men in black was simply too great, and their coordinated attacks were relentless, wave after wave, gradually putting Li Jin under pressure. Just then, one of the men in black, taking advantage of Li Jin's momentary lapse in attention, launched a sneak attack from behind, thrusting a sword into his back!

"Li Jin! Watch out!" Xiao Mei exclaimed, quickly waving her staff, and a dazzling white light shot towards the man in black.

The man in black, unable to dodge in time, was struck by the white light and fell to the ground with a scream. However, this delay also caused Li Jin to miss his best chance to dodge; the tip of the man in black's sword had already pierced his clothes and was about to penetrate his body!

At the critical moment, a figure suddenly appeared behind Li Jin, grabbed the man in black's wrist, and twisted it forcefully. With a "crack," the man in black's wrist broke.

Li Jin turned around and saw a tall woman with a cold face standing behind him, holding a gleaming dagger in her hand.

"Sophie?!" Li Jin's eyes widened in surprise.

"What? Are you surprised to see me?" Sophie smiled coldly, a sly glint in her eyes.
