The strongest astral army in Warhammer 40K

Chapter 2 "The Blood Drinkers"

"Mangol!" Russell roared hysterically as he watched his friend explode into a cloud of blood mist, his heart breaking with terror.

Wu Di knew that he should have been the one to die, but now Mangor had died in his place, and he could not let his brother's blood be shed in vain.

"Kadia, stand firm!" he roared and charged madly toward the location of the molten steel gun.

Upon hearing this, all the members of the Cardia Commando were filled with righteous indignation and roared: Cardia, stand firm!

Russell joined the others in shouting the same phrase.

He fired his laser gun haphazardly at the enemy with his left hand, while charging towards them with his shovel in his right.

The heat gun fired several shots at Russell, who was charging at him like a madman, but failed to hit him. Instead, several gang members operating the heat gun were killed by laser guns.

Russell quickly rushed to the enemy and swung his entrenching tool at a gang member.

This gang member was no pushover either; he raised his machete to take Russell's powerful blow head-on.

The entrenching tool slammed into the broadsword, sparks flying everywhere. The broadsword was deformed, and the gang member's arm went numb from the impact.

Enraged by his missed attack, Russell raised the handle of his laser gun with his left hand and smashed it down on the gangster's chin.

The butt of the rifle struck the enemy's chin hard, knocking him to the ground.

Although one enemy was successfully dealt with, another enemy rushed up. This person was not only taller and more ferocious, but also carried a different weapon—a chainsaw sword.

Undeterred by the formidable enemy, Russell brandished his entrenching tool and charged forward.

The two weapons collided violently. Even a steel entrenching tool was no match for the chainsaw sword. The impact deformed Russell's entrenching tool.

The enemy revealed a cruel sneer and struck Russell several more times. Russell, who was retreating step by step, could only barely defend himself with his deformed entrenching tool.

The ferocity of the enemy far exceeded his expectations, and the chainsaw sword was a heavy weapon (these were the weapons used by the Space Marines). After several heavy blows, the entrenching tool was no longer usable. Without a suitable weapon, it was only a matter of time before Russell was killed.

At this tense and critical moment, the system's voice sounded once again.

"System has detected the host."

"The system issues the host the first item reward: an entrenching tool."

A black entrenching tool immediately appeared in Russell's hand.

This entrenching tool looks no different from an ordinary entrenching tool.

Only Russell knew that this suddenly appearing entrenching tool had an excellent feel and was very easy and powerful to wield.

With a handy weapon, he became full of fighting spirit once again.

The two weapons collided with full force once again. This time, the entrenching tool not only did not deform, but also sent the chainsaw sword flying.

"Die!" Russell roared.

He swung his entrenching tool and struck the gang member three times in quick succession, each strike stronger than the last. The gang member stumbled and fell as he was forced to retreat.

Russell, of course, wouldn't let this opportunity slip by, and slammed his entrenching tool heavily into the gang member's thigh.

The sharp entrenching tool sliced the gang member's thigh in two, and the gang member screamed in agony.

Russell ignored him and charged toward another enemy.

It was a short and fierce battle. Soon there were no gang members left standing in the hall. Most of them were killed, and only a few escaped.

He pulled the entrenching tool from the enemy with satisfaction and examined it carefully.

A series of sounds rang out again.

"The Blood Drinker, Old K's favorite, cannot be destroyed. Once it has drunk enough blood, it will become indestructible..."

Russell's face darkened. He knew perfectly well who "Old K" referred to. Wouldn't using his weapon now be tantamount to betrayal? If it were the old Russell, he would have been loyal and quickly discarded the weapon. But the current Russell was different. Survival was the most important thing in this dangerous world, and this weapon was his only means of survival. How could he possibly throw it away?

"Gather together, keep moving forward! Russell, what are you standing there for?" Wu Di urged from the side.

Russell then realized what was happening and quickly picked up his laser gun to follow the main force.

After leaving the hall, you come to a long corridor. Strangely, the corridor is quiet and there is no sign of any enemies.

"There's a bomb on the pillar!" a commando exclaimed.

Wu Di immediately shouted: "Go back!"

Perhaps the enemy retreated too hastily, and the bomb was simply fixed to a pillar in the corridor, which was seen by the assault team. If it had been placed more discreetly, Wu Di and his entire squad would probably have been wiped out.

They didn't go too deep and it was easy for them to retreat. They quickly withdrew to a safe area, and the enemy's plot failed once again.

"Fire the bomb!" Under Wu Di's command, the laser gun was fired at the bomb.

The massive explosion was deafening, collapsing the corridor and sending boulders flying. Everyone who witnessed this scene secretly felt fortunate.

After the explosion, they continued their advance.

After passing through the pile of rocks, the group arrived at a large gate.

Wu Di took out his high-definition binoculars and looked at the gate, then cursed, "These bastards!"

Judging from the material, the front should be a large gate made of high-quality steel. The weapons carried by the assault team could not damage the gate, and they could only wait for the arrival of heavy weapons.

"A huge iron gate is blocking our way. We need heavy weapons support!" Wu Di said into the communicator.

A voice came from the other end of the communicator: "Received, Lieutenant, backup is on its way."

Shortly afterward, a fighter jet appeared overhead; this was the support they had called for.

The fighter jets immediately began bombarding the large iron gate after they appeared.

An arc of electricity shot straight towards the large iron gate, and the plasma projectile crashed into the gate, burning a large hole in the thick iron door.

"Forward!" Wu Di shouted excitedly.

The assault team launched another charge.

Every commando knew perfectly well what lay behind the massive iron gate. However, as members of the Cardia Commando, they were never afraid of death, for returning to the Golden Throne was the highest honor.

The commando members did not rush forward all at once, but instead dispersed.

Russell, laser gun in hand, sprinted between the boulders. Some were faster than him, such as Wu Di, the lieutenant who took the lead and was the first to rush to the large iron gate before charging in without hesitation.

A hail of bullets rained down on him, but this time he was not lucky and was turned into a pile of mud.

Wu Di's death bought the subsequent assault team a few precious seconds.
