The strongest astral army in Warhammer 40K

Chapter 1 Becoming "Russell"

A loud "boom" followed.

Several figures were blown away.

“Corporal… Russell… Wake up!” Russell!

A voice kept ringing in his ears.

The trauma from the violent explosion left him with ringing ears and profuse bleeding.

The sound received by the cochlea is intermittent.

“Russell, get up! They’re coming…”

This lasted for about ten seconds before Russell slowly opened his eyes. At this time, a series of booming sounds still echoed in his mind.

The surroundings were unfamiliar to him; he felt as if he were inside a tall building, surrounded by gunshots and screams.

He clutched his head, which was throbbing with pain, and rolled on the ground several times.

This puzzled him. Wasn't he supposed to be on duty guarding the concrete? How did he end up here? Just as he was lost in thought, Russell's memories flooded into his mind like a tidal wave.

At this moment, he finally learned who he was. It turned out that his name was Russell and he was a member of the Cardia Commando. They were currently quelling a gang riot in the world of Gloria.

The riot took place in a hive city, where the cramped space prevented the local garrison from utilizing its numerical advantage, forcing them to call for help from the Qadia commando unit stationed on the tracks.

"Stand up, Russell, they're coming!" This time the voice reached his ears clearly, without any breaks.

This was shouted by his comrade-in-arms and good friend, "Mangol".

Russell forced himself to stand up despite the excruciating pain all over his body. His laser gun was nowhere to be found, but thankfully he had an entrenching tool hanging from his waist.

A dozen or so gang thugs rushed up. These guys were all strong and muscular, shirtless, covered in tattoos, wearing leather pants and boots, and carrying a large machete in their right hands.

Seeing the gangsters rushing at him, Mangor fought back fiercely, taking down two of them with an entrenching tool.

Seeing that Mangor was about to be surrounded, Russell disregarded everything else and roared, "Cardia will never fall!" He drew his entrenching tool and charged forward.

A thug's head was smashed to pieces, and blood and brains splattered all over Russell's body and face, but he didn't have time to wipe it off at that moment.

The two quickly engaged in a deadly fight with the gangsters, back to back.

Every member of the Cardia Commando is a battle-hardened elite warrior who has witnessed too much bloodshed and death and seen too many formidable enemies.

The gangsters in front of them were no match for the two and were beaten and scattered.

The two men had no intention of letting them go and chased after them with entrenching tools in hand.

A strange voice rang in his mind, "The system is detecting the host!" But Russell didn't pay any attention to it.

After several gunshots, the fleeing gangsters were shot dead on the spot.

"Corporal, Russell, don't be so reckless. Here's your weapon." Lieutenant Wu Di led a dozen or so commando members to Russell and handed him a brand-new laser gun.

Russell took the laser gun and unconsciously began to stroke it up and down, as if caressing his lover.

No member of the Astragalman army dislikes the laser gun, despite its unfortunate nickname "flashlight." That hasn't diminished their affection for it.

"We need to move. Russell, you and Mangal, come with me!"

“Yes, sir!” Russell blurted out the words as if he had repeated the training a thousand times.

Under Wu Di's guidance, they began to delve deeper into the Nest City world.

A foul odor wafted out, leather boots sank into dirty water, and the light bulbs on the walls flickered. Apart from the sound of footsteps, the surroundings were completely silent, and every member of the Kadia commando team stared wide-eyed.

Without warning, a burst of gunfire rang out, and deadly bullets came flying at them. No one knew where the bullets came from.

A bullet grazed Wu Di's cheek.

"Get out of the way!" Wu Di roared.

The commando members quickly took cover.

Russell quickly dodged to the side, raised his laser gun, and blew up the light bulb on the wall.

After the light bulb shattered, darkness descended, and the gunman who was still spitting fire snakes also revealed his position.

Dozens of laser guns fired simultaneously, followed by a loud explosion.

"Charge out of here!" Wu Di roared and led the team in a charge.

Hidden within this narrow passage were countless machine gunners, like venomous snakes waiting for the arrival of the Astronauts to strike them.

The machine gunners unleashed another torrent of fire from their concealed positions. Some soldiers fell after being shot, but quickly got up and continued forward, because the Cardia commandos were wearing the best body armor and lightweight composite armor, which left only bullet marks.

Russell ran and fired shots to break light bulbs, while Manger was tasked with finding the machine gunners and shooting them down.

Gunfire erupted, lasers flashed wildly, and screams of agony echoed from the hidden places.

Just as they were advancing rapidly, they suddenly heard Wu Di shout: "Lie down!"

Without the slightest hesitation, the assault team members immediately dropped to the ground.

Like raindrops, fragmentation grenades were thrown over, landing near the assault team members and exploding in all directions.

Some were killed in the bombing, while others were seriously injured.

After the explosion, Wu Di quickly stood up, raised his laser gun, and fired it at the gang members who were still trying to throw grenades.

The others were quick to act, raising their laser guns to find targets and fire, while others fired randomly.

The random shooting here is not useless; the laser can illuminate an area.

Russell fired several shots before killing one gang member, while the rest quickly went into hiding.

"Throw the explosive grenades quickly!" Wu Di shouted.

A member of the commando team carrying explosive grenades quickly took out a grenade and threw it at the gang members.

A violent explosion erupted, creating a ball of fire that not only illuminated the gang members' hiding place but also burned these despicable bastards.

Immediately afterwards, a dozen or so fragmentation grenades were thrown at the gang members, and the violent explosions blasted a path open in front of them.

The assault team quickly passed through here.

The main hall in front was filled with enemies who were already prepared.

Two heavy mechanical molten guns awaited the Astronauts.

Wu Di was the first to rush out.

Bullets rained down on him like a storm, but he didn't dodge; instead, he took the bullets head-on. The assault team members behind him quickly dodged and rushed out to engage the enemy in a fierce firefight.

After a loud bang, a huge fireball shot towards Wu Di.

These are flaming bullets fired from a hot melt gun; if they hit Wu Di, he will be pulverized.

"Lieutenant, get out of the way!" Mangor lunged forward and knocked Wu Di aside, but he himself was hit by a bullet and turned into pieces of flesh.
