The strongest astral army in Warhammer 40K

Chapter 3: Fighting Brothers "Kayans"

The assault team's counterattack, though not fierce, was equally deadly.

Battles are always brutal and require lives to be paid. More and more commandos rushed in, shooting one enemy only to be shot dead themselves. This extreme one-for-one exchange lasted for several minutes before Russell charged in.

He was also unafraid of death, and more than a dozen of his comrades-in-arms rushed in with him.

Russell wasn't the first to rush in; he followed closely behind the assault team. Once inside, unlike his brothers, he quickly ducked to the side and then did a series of extreme rolls.

A hail of bullets came at him, but unfortunately, he dodged most of them by rolling wildly. A few bullets did hit his helmet and shoulder armor, which were thick enough to stop enemy bullets.

His roll also had some unexpected effects. Because he drew the fire away, the pressure on the assault team was greatly reduced, and the assault team took this opportunity to swarm in.

The laser gun fire intensified, and the gang shooters suffered heavy losses and their firepower was further weakened. This led to more commandos entering the battlefield, and the situation on the battlefield immediately reversed, with the commandos going from being extremely passive to taking the initiative.

Russell scrambled to his feet and charged toward the passage ahead, firing his laser gun as he went.

This is why the Cardia Commandos all wanted to be at the forefront. Although Russell was already moving at full speed, many of his fellow fighters still overtook him and rushed into the tunnel. Gunfire erupted and screams filled the tunnel immediately.

The enemy was completely unprepared for the Cardia commando team to break through the gate so quickly, and they were no match for the commandos in their hasty response.

After a fierce battle, Russell and his team arrived at the lair of the upper echelons of the Nest City.

Russell's laser gun is no longer usable; all four batteries are dead. Now he can only fight with an entrenching tool, just like his comrades in front of him, who are also fighting to the death with entrenching tools in hand.

The uppermost level of the city was inhabited by nobles and wealthy people, so all the buildings there were designed to be spacious and luxurious, with chandeliers on the dome illuminating the surroundings.

A new enemy has appeared. When the commando members saw the new enemy, their fighting spirit soared. These people were clearly stronger than the ordinary gangsters.

The gangsters outside were shirtless and carrying machetes, while these gangsters were wearing bulletproof vests, tactical camouflage pants, leather combat boots, and carrying police batons.

These people are the core strength of the gang and their elite henchmen.

About a hundred gang thugs charged toward Russell and his men.

Soon the two forces were locked in a fierce battle. These gang thugs were far more troublesome than the gangsters, and their sheer numbers forced the assault team to retreat.

Russell was locked in combat with two gang thugs, their two steel police batons working in close coordination. Russell had no time to retaliate and could only parry left and right.

The gangsters' advantage didn't last long. More Cardia commandos rushed in, putting down their laser guns and picking up their entrenching tools to fight the gangsters.

Compared to shooting enemies with laser guns, the commandos prefer the brutal and exhilarating hand-to-hand combat.

One of the fighters shoved aside a gangster thug who was grappling with Russell.

"Hey bro, let me have this enemy?"

Russell glanced at the newcomer and then nodded.

Dealing with two people is indeed a bit difficult, but dealing with one is much easier.

"Cardia, never fall!" Russell roared and launched a fierce attack on the gangsters.

The "Blood Drinker" repeatedly struck the enemy, knocking their batons away with each blow.

Russell kicked the enemy to the ground and then ruthlessly chopped off his head.

After the gang thugs were driven back, the assault team continued their advance.

The claim that the gang controlled the city was a lie; the real controllers of the city were far more terrifying enemies. However, this was no longer relevant to Russell, who had received orders to rest.

Russell's Cardia Commando Regiment belonged to the 357th Commando Regiment. They had suffered heavy losses along the way, including the death of Lieutenant Wu Di.

The soldiers of the 357th Regiment gathered in the square. When they launched the attack from the outside, they had two thousand men, but now they only had two hundred.

Captain Lawrence scanned the crowd, his expression not pleasant, mainly because he could no longer see his good friend Wu Di.

"Praise the Emperor!"

"Kadia stands tall."

After shouting these two slogans, Lawrence slowly said: "The military affairs department will be here soon. They will bring military rations, tents, and new weapons and equipment. You can rest here! Dismissed."

"Hey, buddy, how are you?"

A commando walked towards Russell, who looked up and immediately recognized him, replying: "Hello, brother in arms."

“My name is Kayans, what’s your name?” Kayans, the commando, said as he sat down next to Russell.

"My name is Russell. Thank you for your help."

"Russell brothers, no need to thank me, we are all brothers in arms."

While speaking, Kayans kept rummaging through his pockets, and soon pulled out two bags of compressed rations. He ate one bag himself and handed the other to Russell.

Russell paused for a moment, then took it.

"I've been fighting for days on end, and I'm starving," Kayans muttered as he ate his dry rations.

Russell took a bite of his dry rations and said, "The military affairs department will send over the food soon."

"Ha, by the time we get to them we'll be starving to death," Kayans said with dissatisfaction.

Many of the combat comrades had some degree of dissatisfaction with the Military Affairs Department, and Russell was no exception.

Russell didn't respond and continued eating his dry rations.

"That's the enemy's lair up there. The battle must have been fierce. It's a pity we didn't get a chance," Kayans said with deep regret.

"Maybe? But we've been fighting for too long, we need to rest."

"There's something I don't understand: how can a gang control an entire city?"

The world of Hive City has never lacked criminal elements, nor has it lacked rebellions. In Russell's memory, he had quelled two rebellions in the world of Hive City, and the enemies were the garrison of Hive City. This time, however, it was gang members, which is not a common sight.

Anything can happen! Isn't that right?

Kayan chuckled and said, "That's right. Whether it's a gang rebellion or a local garrison rebellion, it has little to do with us. Our mission is to eliminate the rebels."

Just as the two were talking, dozens of military affairs officers arrived.
