Huh? There's a magic school here.
Chapter 62 Visiting the Centaur Tribe
Because there were many people this time, everyone moved rather slowly. It took them nearly forty minutes to reach the centaur village, where the remaining centaur people were waiting at the village entrance. The centaurs standing on the tower saw movement in the forest and knew that the guests had arrived.
Then he picked up the horn hanging on his body and blew it. With a series of tolling sounds, the centaurs who had been wandering around chatting quickly formed a line and stood in formation.
The young wizards who had just emerged from the forest also heard the heavy horn sound and were quite intrigued. Anduin smiled and told everyone, "Don't be afraid. It's a custom of ours. We only blow the horn to summon our people when we're welcoming very important friends or when something very important happens. Your arrival is a big deal for us."
The young wizards could see the village fence from afar. It was about two meters high, and normally it would have been difficult to secure and tie it together. However, it was covered with a kind of vine, the thick vines growing as if on purpose. There were also fresh leaves on it, and the village gate in the very center was half a meter higher than the fence.
Andres hadn't seen these things when he came a few days ago, so he asked Anduin out of curiosity.
"You've built a simple wooden city wall so quickly? When I came last time, there were only towers."
Anduin replied smugly, “Ever since I decided you were coming, I’ve had my people speed things up. Actually, it’s quite simple to set this up, just a bit of a hassle. You know those Norwegian vines need a lot of magic to stimulate and guide their growth so they’ll grow the required way. Otherwise, they’ll just grow wildly everywhere and won’t serve any purpose.”
"Oh, is it Norwegian vine? I think I've seen it in some book. It's said to be extremely tough and fireproof. The best way to deal with it is to freeze it and then crush it."
“Yes, Principal Andres, we also usually use it to make nets. It’s a great material for fishing or as hammocks. I suggest you grow some too; you might find it useful.”
“I don’t see it that way, Chief Anduin. Perhaps we don’t need to grow it ourselves,” Andres replied casually.
"Why? Don't you humans need to use them to weave ropes or something?" Anduin asked, puzzled.
"No, what I mean is, we're friends. Since you've planted so many of these magical plants, we can easily send someone to borrow them from you when we need them, can't we?"
"Hahaha, yes, we're friends. We can lend you anything we have." Anduin laughed heartily.
That's what they say, but does Andres really need this thing to make a rope? Not necessarily, but Andres knows that friendships need to be reciprocal to last. You have to make the other person feel that they can help you; otherwise, if you're always the one helping, it might be fine once or twice, but over time the person being helped will definitely have problems. And that's where the friendship ends.
As the two chatted and laughed, the centaurs led all the young wizards and professors into the village. After introductions, the centaurs continued their preparations. For example, Dobby had brought a large quantity of coal. However, the centaurs disliked it, finding the black smoke unsightly and deeming the evening's feast to be fueled by fine pine wood. Therefore, starting this morning, two adult centaurs transported pine logs to the village, and two centaurs chopped them into suitable sizes within the village.
Several centaurs were processing the fresh ingredients that had just been delivered that day, as they needed food for the bonfire party that evening.
The centaurs had dispersed, but the young wizards hadn't. They were still waiting for the professors' instructions, led by their prefects. So they hadn't been dismissed yet, which was at the professors' request. It seemed they needed to arrange their lodgings for the night first.
“Alright, all you little wizards, follow me.” Hagrid, with his enormous size, was the perfect reference point. So Hagrid stepped forward and led the little wizards to a large, round stone house in the center of the village. There, they found a pointed tent.
"We've arrived, everyone. This is where we'll be staying tonight. Please make sure you don't go to the wrong place when you're free to do your own thing tonight."
“Excuse me, Professor Hagrid, do you mean we’re all going to live in this little tent?” a young male wizard asked.
“That’s right, Steve, we’ll all be staying here tonight. However, due to the rushed nature of the event, we haven’t been able to provide everyone with beds, so you’ll have to make do with sleeping bags tonight. But it’s only for tonight; tomorrow you can all go back to your warm beds. Okay, come with me.” With that, Hagrid turned and walked into the tent.
All the young wizards were dumbfounded. With Hagrid's enormous body inside, would they even have room to stay? At this point, a leader was needed, and Darius shouted, "Alright, Gryffindors, follow me, then Ravenclaw, then Hufflepuff, and finally Slytherin."
After he finished speaking, he led the Gryffindor wizards into the tent. A dozen or so Gryffindor wizards quickly entered the tent, followed by a series of exclamations.
"Wow, Erlinda! Look, it's the ocean!"
“Yes, Beretta, this place is huge! Is it really just a tent? It’s so big inside.”
"Alright, Gryffindors, your sleeping bags are over here," Hagrid's booming voice came from inside. The young wizards from the other three houses looked at each other, wondering what was going on inside! But urged on by Diane, they lined up and entered the tent.
Those who entered the tent gasped in surprise, while those outside looked on expectantly. It was clear there was something strange about the tent; so many people had already gone inside, which spoke volumes.
Finally, everyone went into the tent, including the professors, but the professors, being well-traveled and knowledgeable, naturally knew that it was a travel tent for lazy people.
"Alright, welcome to the Lazy Man's Travel Tent. This tent is about one kilometer in diameter, and the environment inside can be adjusted according to the user's preferences. So you don't need to worry about getting cold at night; we'll adjust the temperature accordingly."
Now everyone should choose their sleeping bags as soon as possible, and you can freely combine them with your friends to share a sleeping bag.
Great! After a burst of cheers, everyone had chosen their sleeping bags, and the students who were usually on good terms with each other also gathered together.
"Alright, once everyone is settled, you can come out. Professor McGonagall will arrange the rest of the itinerary for everyone."
So the young wizards gathered again and stood in front of Professor McGonagall, waiting for instructions.
