Huh? There's a magic school here.
Chapter 61 Departure
Daryl and Diane left the office. Then they went to find the other prefects, chatting as they walked.
“Daris, I can’t believe there are centaurs in our Forbidden Forest! I thought it was just a primeval forest.”
“Diane, I can’t believe it either, but now that I think about it, it makes sense, doesn’t it? After all, we can all study at Hogwarts, magic exists in this world, so it’s not surprising to have some magical creatures.”
"Could it be that everything in those myths is true? If centaurs exist, then vampires, mermaids, and all sorts of other strange creatures also exist, we just don't know about them!"
“I don’t know then. Let’s hurry and inform the prefects. I’ll go and inform the Gryffindor and Hufflepuff people, and you go and inform the Ravenclaw and Slytherin people. We’ll have a short meeting in the study room on the fifth floor in an hour.”
"Okay, it's settled then. See you later!"
"Okay, see you in a bit!" After saying that, the two parted ways and went to inform the prefects to hold a meeting.
An hour later, in the self-study classroom on the fifth floor.
The heads of all four colleges were present, and everyone's eyes were on the presidents of the male and female student councils, wondering what the meeting was about.
"Diane, is there something you need to tell us in such a hurry? You wouldn't tell me when I asked earlier, it's all so mysterious."
"Alright, everyone's here now. Actually, Principal Andres asked us to inform everyone that our school will be holding an event this Saturday."
"What activity?" a prefectural leader asked.
"Don't rush, let me finish. To satisfy your curiosity, the principal has made arrangements with the horsemen in the Forbidden Forest to take us to visit the horsemen's tribe and have a bonfire party on Saturday."
"What? Visit the centaur tribe in the Forbidden Forest? My God, are there really centaurs?"
"Alright, everyone! Hold your opinions for a bit. Our task is to take good care of these young wizards and make sure they don't get lost. Also, remember to tell them to dress warmly when you issue the notices; Headmaster Andres said we might have to spend the night there."
"Yes, Mr. Chairman, is there anything else? If not, we'll go and draft a notice now and post it on the bulletin board."
"No, ladies and gentlemen. This is our student council's first group activity, so everyone needs to be careful!"
"No problem. I'll be going now, I still have homework to do," one of the class leaders said, and the other class leaders dispersed.
That evening, the entire Hogwarts was abuzz with discussion about the centaurs. The young wizards had learned from the bulletin board that they would be visiting the centaur tribe in the Forbidden Forest on Saturday. Centaurs didn't appear often in the Harry Potter novels, and their tribe had never been mentioned before.
This filled the young wizards with anticipation; they were all praying time would pass quickly. They wished today was already Saturday!
Soon, it was Saturday afternoon. The young wizards from each house had prepared everything they needed and were waiting in the common room.
After receiving the summons, the prefects gathered their people in the common room and then left. The Gryffindors encountered the Ravenclaws as they descended the stairs; the prefects exchanged greetings and then went down together.
Throughout the event, the familiar young wizards discussed the upcoming activities. They all wore their winter clothes, and some even secretly brought snacks and drinks, worried they might not get enough to eat—who knew what the centaurs ate! What if it wasn't to their liking?
The professors and the presidents of the male and female student councils waited at the castle gate.
“Darris, all of us Gryffindors are here.”
"Darris, everyone from Ravenclaw is here!"
“Darris, you’re here really early. The Hufflepuffs are all here too. The Slytherins will be here soon.”
"Darris, I'm sorry. One of the little wizards overslept, but thankfully everyone is here."
"Principal Andres, everyone from all four colleges is here. Is there anything you need to tell us?"
"Speak loudly. Ahem, all you little wizards, listen up. I want to emphasize again before we set off that we are going to visit the centaur tribe. Therefore, I hope everyone will be polite and respectful to the centaurs and refrain from saying anything inappropriate. Secondly, if any little wizard needs to leave the group, it is best to do so in pairs or more, and you must inform the prefects before leaving."
Of course, I hope you won't wander around alone unless necessary, because the forbidden forest is too big and we're worried you might get lost. If anyone can't find their way back, please send a signal flare into the sky; we'll also send a signal flare into the sky when we're looking for you.
Now everyone should follow Professor Hagrid; he will be leading the expedition to the Forbidden Forest. All prefects should stay at the back of their respective houses' groups to make sure the younger ones don't fall behind.
A dozen minutes later, the large group reached the edge of the Forbidden Forest. Just as they arrived, a commotion arose within the woods. Then, about a dozen centaurs emerged from the trees. Leading them was a tall centaur, followed by ten adult centaurs armed with bows and arrows. Finally, five or six foals appeared.
Anduin, the leader of the centaurs, greeted Andres and the others.
"Welcome to the Forbidden Forest! I will now lead you on a tour of our tribe. Do not be afraid; our warriors will protect you from harm."
"Thank you so much, Chief Anduin. Let's set off now."
Soon the centaurs were leading the way, walking at the very front of the procession. But the ponies watched the young wizards with curiosity, yet hesitant to approach. After some pushing and shoving, Martha was finally pushed forward. She walked shyly into the Gryffindor group.
They handed Beretta a wreath they had woven, pointed to themselves and said, "Me, Martha!" Then they pointed to Beretta and said, "You, my friend!" Finally, they pointed to the wreath and said, "A gift!"
Martha's human language skills were clearly limited, only able to express herself with simple words. However, this didn't hinder her communication with Barrett. After understanding, Barrett immediately accepted the wreath and put it on herself. Then, after thinking for a moment, she pulled a handful of Halloween candy from her pocket.
She handed it to Martha, saying, "This is a return gift of candy. I didn't bring much with me, just this much." Martha took the candy, smiled, nodded, and ran back to the ponies' group. Then she distributed the candy to everyone. It was clearly the ponies' first time eating human candy, and the sweet treat quickly won them over.
So the ponies came over to the little wizards' group and presented them with the flower wreaths they had made. The little wizards, in turn, gave out the candy they had brought, and the atmosphere in the group became lively.
Andres and Professor McGonagall watched quietly from a distance, a satisfied smile on their faces.
