Huh? There's a magic school here.
Chapter 59 Centaur Tribe
In the past few days, several young wizards from various houses have been caught sneaking into the Forbidden Forest and losing points. This has caused several professors a great deal of trouble, so one evening in November, Professor McGonagall brought up the matter with Andreas during dinner.
“Principal Andres, although there are only centaurs in the Forbidden Forest now, it’s not good for young wizards to sneak in all the time.”
"Hmm, children are always full of curiosity. I wonder if Professor McGonagall has any good suggestions?"
"How about we choose a weekend and have Hagrid take all the young wizards in for a stroll? That way, they'll satisfy their curiosity and no one will dare to wander in again."
“That’s a good idea. I’ll inform the centaurs in the Forbidden Forest. Since there’s a precedent set by Felice, perhaps we can let the centaurs join the Hogwarts family.”
"Excuse my bluntness, Principal Andres, this is quite difficult and may require a gradual approach."
“I understand, Professor McGonagall. I will be patient; there’s always a solution, isn’t there?”
The next day, Andres first sought out Hagrid, inquiring about any recent developments in the Forbidden Forest.
"Don't worry, Headmaster Andres. There haven't been any problems in the Forbidden Forest lately, and the centaurs are building their homes. If needed, I can pass on their message, and I'm sure they won't refuse." With that, Hagrid picked up a teacup from the table and took a sip of his black tea.
"No, I'll go myself. I want to spend more time with the centaurs; it might be helpful in the future. How about this black tea? I'll have Dobby bring you some later, since the weather is getting colder. You'll need it when you come back from your patrol in the Forbidden Forest."
"Thank you so much, Principal. The tea I buy myself never tastes right. Would you like me to help you arrange a time with their leader?"
"Okay, then let's do it tomorrow afternoon. I'll also go and check on their village. Is there anything I should be aware of?"
"No need. They're usually quite easy to talk to, as long as you don't call them mules. It's such a simple thing, but those idiots in the Ministry of Magic just don't understand."
"Alright, there's no Ministry of Magic now. Even if there were, we'd set it up ourselves in the future."
"Thank you for your hospitality. Principal Andres, if there's nothing else, I'll head back now. I need to get some painkillers this afternoon; my tooth has been acting up lately, and it's been hurting so much that it can't sleep all night."
"Okay, don't forget to contact the horseman."
"I understand. Goodbye, Headmaster." With that, Hagrid downed the tea in his cup in one gulp.
The following afternoon, near the Forbidden Forest. Andres, Hagrid, and Anduin.
"Welcome, Principal Andres. We are delighted to have you as our guest. Please follow me."
"Thank you, then we'll take our leave."
Then Anton led the way, with Andres and Hagrid following behind. They walked back and forth along the paths of the Forbidden Forest, the tall trees blocking out the sun. And given that it was already mid-November, it was quite chilly in the air.
After walking for about twenty minutes in the Forbidden Forest, Anduin pushed aside a clump of trees. A clearing appeared before them, roughly a kilometer in size.
There were about a dozen adult centaurs working around, some spreading straw on the roofs of the houses, others building towers outside. Andres was really curious how they managed to climb such tall towers.
Seeing Andres gazing curiously at the tower, Anduin explained, "This is an old tradition, a rule passed down from our ancestors. A tower must be built at the entrance of the village to ensure its safety. Although there is no danger in the Forbidden Forest now, we are used to it."
“Oh, of course. We should respect the traditions left by our ancestors. So, is there enough food in the village now? Is there anything else we can provide?” Andres changed the subject.
"Speaking of which, I am truly grateful to Hogwarts. Without your help, I believe we would have had a very difficult winter. Although we could find the seeds ourselves, that would be too time-consuming. We can barely be self-sufficient with catalytic plants right now, but we can't make beer, since brewing takes time. We should be able to be self-sufficient by next spring."
"Congratulations! As long as you establish yourself in the Forbidden Forest, you can live a good life."
Anduin led Andres through the village gate to the center of the village, where there was a huge circular stone house.
“This is my home, Principal Andres, please come in. Martha, we have guests. Please pour us some hot water.”
“Okay, Dad. I’ll be right there.” A little horseman ran out of the room.
“This is my daughter, Martha. Her mother went to the woods to hunt with her companions.”
The three sat down, and little Martha brought three glasses of water. Then she hid behind her father, peeking at the newcomers. Clearly, she didn't want to leave. After all, there were only about twenty centaurs in the entire tribe, and they usually only had five or six ponies to play with. Now that humans had suddenly come to their home, of course she didn't want to leave.
Anduin knew this too, so he ignored his daughter and went straight to ask Andres.
"Our conditions are rather poor right now, I'm sorry you had to see that. I wonder what brings Principal Andres to suddenly request a meeting with me?"
“It’s alright, I know your situation, things will get better. Here’s the thing, you know that recently some young wizards have been sneaking into the Forbidden Forest to take risks.”
“Oh, I know about that. I ran into a few young wizards before. I didn’t disturb them; I just had my companions call Hagrid to take them back.”
"Thank you, Anduin. You know we're having a bit of a headache; the kids are just too curious. They keep sneaking in, which isn't good, so we've decided to have Hagrid lead them on weekends to satisfy their curiosity. What do you think?"
Anduin was slightly taken aback upon hearing this, not expecting Andres to make such a decision. However, after a moment's thought, it nodded in agreement.
“That’s no problem, Principal Andres. It’s good that the ponies are curious. Would they like to visit the tribe? If so, I’ll have the other ponies prepare.”
“Dad, I think we can take this opportunity to have a bonfire party. The people have been working hard building the village lately. We need to celebrate to relieve their fatigue.”
Martha's suggestion greatly appealed to Anduin, but their conditions were poor and they lacked sufficient supplies. Andres noticed Anduin's reaction and, guessing the reason, spoke up.
“Little Martha’s suggestion is excellent. The young wizards’ school life is a bit dull. It’s a great idea to let them come and interact with you. Of course, Hogwarts will provide all the supplies for this event. If there’s anything you need, I’ll have Dobby and the others prepare it.”
"Then it's settled, we're all set!"
"Okay, then it's settled."
