Huh? There's a magic school here.
Chapter 100 Final Exam (Continued)
“Excellent, Diane! Your idea is brilliant! I think no one would object to giving you an O! Now go and rest over there. Darius! You can come in now!”
Diane appeared calm on the surface upon hearing Professor Flitwick's words, but inwardly she was overjoyed! If she weren't the president of the student council and needed to maintain her composure, she would have jumped for joy! The competition for the Academy Cup was fierce, and the only way to gain extra points was through exams.
Her performance could affect the outcome of the Academy Cup! Just as she stepped into the rest area, her roommate and best friend pulled her over!
"Wow, you're amazing, Diane! How did you come up with that? None of us thought of that! We were just waving our wands around like idiots and barely hit any!"
"It's nothing, you're just too focused on exam scores and haven't thought about it carefully!"
"Waaaaah, is this the world of top students? How could a lousy student like me ever imagine this? No way, you have to treat me to a big meal during the holidays!"
"Alright, Melissa! Stop fooling around, Darius's coming in. Let's see what he does!"
Just moments before, amidst the lively discussions, Darius was the last to enter the examination hall! The young wizards in the rest area immediately fell silent, waiting to see how Darius would perform!
When Darius entered the examination room, he sensed a strong aura of fire magic. Looking at the two blackened marks on the floor, he realized that someone had just cast two fire-type spells.
When Professor Flitwick said he would use the Petrify Charm on the small animals inside a enclosure, he understood the purpose of the two fire-type spells. It seemed Diane had divided the area into smaller sections, restricting the small animals' movement.
Darius's mind raced. Since Diane had used a fire spell to complete the exam, he couldn't use the same magic. That would make him look like he was just copying others, which would be a sign of incompetence! He quickly thought of another spell that would restrict movement, and then confidently stepped into the dome, signaling to Professor Flitwick that he was ready.
Upon seeing this, Professor Flitwick announced the start of the exam. All the students turned their attention to Darius, eager to see how he would handle the test! However, they were quickly disappointed, as Darius made the exam extremely boring.
Darius used a swamp spell inside the enclosure, turning the ground into a swamp! The small animals that emerged were immediately stuck in the swamp and unable to move quickly, especially the rats! They were already half-submerged in the mud when they came out, making it very difficult for them to move, let alone run.
Just like that, the moving target became a fixed target! Darius didn't even need to waste any extra magic power; he simply petrified all thirty of the small animals used for the exam and took them away.
"That was a fantastic exam! Congratulations, Darius! I can tell you right now, your score is an O!"
Professor Flitwick praised Darius as he waved his wand to clean up the exam room, restoring the entire classroom to its original state.
"Alright, children, the Charms exam is over! I believe you have all learned a lot from this exam. Now that the exam is over, you can all go have dinner! The exam results will be announced in a couple of days. Just keep an eye on the notice board in the common room."
And so the spells exam for today came to an end. The young wizards left the classroom in twos and threes, in groups of their dormitories, and headed toward the Great Hall.
On the way to the auditorium, the students were still discussing the exam they had just taken.
"Jeanno, tell me, how come the prefects and the two student council presidents are so much better than us!"
"It's alright, Jerome. I believe you'll be just as excellent when you're their age. What you need to do now is prepare for tomorrow's exam!"
“Jerome is right! Besides the exams, the performance of the two student council presidents just now showed us that problem-solving skills are more important than abilities!”
“That’s right, Fabio, you’re right. Let’s go eat first, then hurry back to study.”
So that night, most of the young wizards, besides reviewing their study notes to prepare for tomorrow's exam, were thinking about which spells they knew that could help them improve their scores in the exam.
Soon, the transformation class exam began the next morning.
The written test lasted one hour and wasn't too difficult. The young wizards were generally able to answer the questions accurately; the only difference was the last question. It was also a theoretical question, and it completely came down to each young wizard's existing knowledge!
The practical exam in the afternoon was much more interesting. The seven-year junior wizards had to turn a very common stone into a goblet, and the goblet had to be as exquisite as possible!
And so the fun began, because just like in Charms class, everyone could see what the people behind them were doing. So all sorts of strange things appeared before them, like a stone goblet, a dark gray one! And then there was something that looked more like a basin than a goblet. In short, a lot of things were conjured up, but no goblet!
However, in the end, our little girl Beretta still brought Professor McGonagall some surprises.
She conjured a silver goblet adorned with the Gryffindor crest. For this, Beretta received praise from Professor McGonagall.
For the five-year junior wizards, the difficulty increases. They are required to turn a button into a beetle, the kind that can fly!
However, it was clear that the five-year junior wizards performed much better. They almost all turned the buttons into beetles, the only question being whether they could fly. Some beetles could fly for a long time, while others could only hop around on the table.
Overall, Professor McGonagall was satisfied!
Finally, it was the prefects' turn to perform, and their task was quite challenging. Professor McGonagall's challenge was to transform a table into a vertebrate, leaving the prefects free to improvise.
So the exam hall started to resemble a zoo, with the simplest example being small cats.
Sharon Dempsey transformed the table into a beautiful Ragdoll cat, which could even charm and be cute. As a result, it received a compliment from Professor McGonagall.
Bernhard chose a slightly more challenging breed of dog, conjuring up a Border Collie. After Bernhard threw the ball, the Border Collie quickly retrieved it and placed it at Bernhard's feet.
The others conjured other animals according to their own preferences, but Darius Pick, as the student council president, pushed his challenge to the limit! He conjured a lion, much to the astonishment of the other young wizards. This was Professor McGonagall's performance in the first class, and Darius had managed to replicate it a year later. Although Darius's lion had obvious flaws, it didn't change the fact that it was a lion!
Diane's eagle, on the other hand, is almost perfect.
And just like that, the little wizards' first school year came to an end!
