Chapter 67 Na Ling (Part 2)
"Clang!"
With a loud crash, the door was flung open, and the entire room seemed to tremble violently. Immediately afterward, a group of figures clad in black stealth suits surged in like ghosts. They wielded sharp blades, their eyes cold and piercing, like predatory beasts, scanning the dimly lit hallway.
The room was deathly silent, with only the intermittent light from a computer screen flickering in the darkness.
"What's going on?" Yu Lian asked from the monitor.
Suddenly, a writhing dark figure on the ground caught everyone's attention. The figure seemed to be struggling in pain, emitting low "uh-uh-uh" sounds. A masked man of medium build stepped forward and carefully turned Peng Fei over.
"Ugh...dodge...ugh...open!" he cried out in terror, his voice trembling. However, before the assassins could react, the door they had forced open suddenly slammed shut.
Immediately afterward, a loud crash came from the single room just a meter away from them, accompanied by the sound of heavy walls collapsing. After the violent impact, Xiao Junyao landed in a crouching position on the uneven wooden floor, right in the middle of the group of assassins.
Just as the assassins raised their sharp blades to stab her, she swiftly raised her foot and kicked the computer desk hard at them. The desk, like a wild horse, whistled through the room, smashing into two unfortunate men and pinning them firmly against the wall.
The remaining assassins could hardly believe their eyes. In their astonishment, they immediately drew their pistols and opened fire on Xiao Junyao at close range. She nimbly dodged to the side, easily avoiding the slowly approaching bullets. Some bullets grazed her body, while others struck the wall behind her.
Seeing this, one of the assassins quickly grabbed a chair and slammed it down on her back. Surprisingly, the chair shattered the moment it touched Xiao Junyao. She spun around and delivered a powerful front kick, sending the assassin flying out of the window. Her movements were incredibly swift; even her high heels sparked a trail of dazzling sparks on the ground.
Immediately afterward, Xiao Junyao knelt down and slid swiftly across the ground like lightning, dodging one deadly strike after another. At this moment, she was like a ferocious doe, weaving freely among her enemies, displaying unparalleled agility and elegance.
Only a few dozen seconds had passed, but most of these well-trained assassins had already been taken down. Some lay on the ground groaning in pain; others clutched their wounds, their faces filled with disbelief; and still others, though still able to stand, were staggering, clearly suffering serious injuries.
"How long are you planning to lie there, Mr. Peng Fei?" During a lull in the fierce fighting, Xiao Junyao, while nimbly dodging, spoke up with a hint of annoyance. Hearing her voice, Peng Fei, who had been feigning death on the ground, quickly opened his eyes and quietly reached for the rope binding his hands. Just then, an assassin who had just regained consciousness attempted to ambush Peng Fei. Peng Fei rolled away from the attack, and Xiao Junyao, standing nearby, delivered a powerful kick to the assassin's stomach. The poor assassin screamed in pain, flying a considerable distance before crashing heavily into a pile of cardboard boxes.
"Isn't this just playing along with your act?" He rubbed his wrists, which were red and swollen from being tied up and almost numb, and cursed the woman's ruthlessness in his heart.
“Yu Lian must have been on guard long ago, and he may have already surrounded this area—” She gently covered her left arm, her brows furrowed slightly, and a hint of pain flashed across her face, but she quickly regained her composure, as if nothing had happened.
"Are you injured?" Upon seeing this, Peng Fei quickly reached out a hand, wanting to take her hand to check her injury, but Xiao Junyao cleverly blocked it.
"It's nothing, let's go." Her eyes were utterly indifferent, as if everything around her was irrelevant. She stepped over the scattered "corpses" on the ground and walked towards the computer that had just been destroyed in the fierce battle.
Xiao Junyao stared wide-eyed at the computer, now a pile of shattered pieces, incredulous. Then she bent down and frantically searched through the fragments.
Just then, Peng Fei suddenly called out to her. He pulled a small USB drive out of his pocket, a smug smile on his face: "Is this what you're looking for? It seems that even if you plan everything perfectly, there will inevitably be oversights, Miss Xiao."
The tense atmosphere in the air dissipated at that moment. Xiao Junyao slowly turned around, staring thoughtfully at the USB drive in Peng Fei's hand. Her expression remained indifferent, but a hint of surprise flashed in her eyes.
“If you’re trying to blackmail me with this, then I advise you…” Before Xiao Junyao could finish speaking, Peng Fei sneered and shoved the USB drive into her hand. Then, mimicking how Xiao Junyao had treated him earlier, he turned and left without looking back, leaving Xiao Junyao standing there stunned.
Xiao Junyao's prepared speech was abruptly interrupted by Peng Fei. She gripped the USB drive tightly, her gaze fixed on Peng Fei's retreating figure, her eyes flashing with complex emotions…
......
"Chairman, are we just going to watch them escape like this? If she runs away, you'll lose a valuable assistant!" The liaison officer stared intently at the now completely black screen, secretly speculating about Yu Lian's possible next move. He didn't need much thought to be certain that the group from before was doomed to failure, because he had personally witnessed the secret hidden within the woman named Xiao Junyao.
Yu Lian slowly adjusted his glasses, not immediately responding to the liaison officer's question. However, a strange smile suddenly appeared on his face. "You're wrong. This is just her self-righteous little trick. Moreover, the situation is exactly the opposite of what you think." His tone was shrouded in mystery.
Then, Yu Lian's smile widened. "Don't forget, I still have her secrets in my hands. When the time is right, she'll be begging me to take these things off the front pages of all the major media outlets."
After speaking, he straightened his tuxedo collar, took a deep breath, and pushed open the tightly closed door of the monitoring room with a sigh of relief. Outside, a dazzling, resplendent scene unfolded—the very ballroom where An Han had just been.
"I'm sorry to have kept you waiting, Mengting." Yu Lian smiled apologetically at Tian Mengting, who was waiting not far away. However, Tian Mengting didn't seem to mind, and simply nodded slightly to indicate her understanding.
"It's like this, my brother just called from afar, saying he wants to meet with Chairman Yu. I'm so sorry to bother you so late." After a few brief pleasantries, Tian Mengting gave Yu Lian a wink, hinting that they should find another place to discuss the matter in detail. Yu Lian nodded in understanding, and then they walked together towards the reserved private room.
"Something happened to my brother."
As soon as Tian Mengting stepped over the threshold, her tone suddenly became unusually tense, and she kept touching the hair on her forehead, as if trying to hide her inner unease and anxiety.
Yu Lian sat on the sofa, looking at her expressionlessly, and calmly asked, "Have those prosecutors come knocking again?"
Tian Mengting shook her head, her voice trembling slightly, and said, "No... there's a problem at the White Bear Mountain outpost. A person who claims to be the High Priest of the Deer Clan wants to cooperate with us."
Upon hearing the words "Deer Clan," Yu Lian's eyes lit up instantly. He put down his empty wine glass, leaned forward, and asked eagerly, "Does this High Priest have any special conditions for cooperation?"
As he spoke, he casually picked up the bottle opener on the table, preparing to pry open a bottle of chilled beer to relieve the heat in his heart.
Tian Mengting said solemnly, "She asked us to find someone of their kind within a specified time, whose name is Na Ling."
Upon hearing this, Yu Lian snorted lightly, his face showing an indifferent expression.
He tossed the used bottle opener aside and coldly retorted, "What if we refuse?"
Tian Mengting's face grew increasingly pale. She bit her lip and uttered a few words with difficulty: "Then she will make the entire city of Shenzhen experience 'L' Day' again..."
