Boonie Bears: Another World Fantasy

Chapter 66 Na Ling (Part 1)

"Cough cough cough—" The dimly lit room reeked of disinfectant, and Peng Fei suddenly awoke from his unconsciousness. He struggled to open his eyes and found his arms tightly bound, unable to move an inch. A wave of despair washed over him, but he quickly calmed himself and began to look around. He found himself in a corner piled high with cardboard boxes, surrounded by complete darkness, with only a faint blue light filtering through the crack in the door opposite.

Peng Fei tried to struggle, but the ropes were tied exceptionally tightly, making it impossible to break free. However, when he tried to move his legs, he was pleasantly surprised to find that they were not bound. He carefully knelt up, hid behind the cardboard box, and peered out through the gaps.

"Where's Yu Lian? Tell him to answer the phone." Xiao Junyao's voice came through, clearly impatient. She was leaning against a waist-high table, a large shadow obscuring her face, only her constantly shaking legs and the crisp sound of her high heels could be seen.

"Ms. Xiao, he's out on business right now... Would you like to call back later?" The liaison officer on the other end of the phone seemed to be trying to fob her off and conceal Yu Lian's whereabouts.

"If he's listening right there, tell him to call back within five minutes."

"Bang!" Xiao Junyao slammed her phone on the table with a loud bang, then let out a long sigh.

Peng Fei hadn't expected that she could actually make contact with Yu Lian. He sensed an ominous premonition and looked around, hoping to find a tool or object to cut the ropes. Although he didn't know why this cunning woman had trapped him, her words before knocking him unconscious seemed to be aimed at An Han as well. No, he had to find a way to contact the outside world as soon as possible!

Peng Fei was extremely anxious, simultaneously observing his surroundings and trying to break free from his restraints. Time was of the essence; if he couldn't deliver the message in time, the odds were against him.

"Don't struggle, it's useless." Suddenly, Xiao Junyao's cold and disdainful voice rang out, plunging him into an ice cellar and completely extinguishing any thought of quietly escaping. He peeked through the crack and was surprised to find Xiao Junyao standing quietly in the open doorway of the room, holding an elegant lady's cigarette in her hand. The cigarette butt shimmered with a faint purple light, like twinkling stars in the night sky. Wisps of smoke drifted slowly from her lipstick-covered lips, like a veil, adding to her mature aura.

"What exactly is your relationship with Yu Lian?" Peng Fei didn't rush to reveal himself, but asked her directly, his tone carrying a hint of probing.

"Why should I answer your question, Mr. Peng Fei?" Xiao Junyao flicked her cigarette ash, responding to his questioning slowly and deliberately, her eyes revealing an inscrutable expression. "You still can't shake the habit of your speech, always carrying unnecessary aggression, and you like to pretend to be weak while actually being strong."

Xiao Junyao extinguished the cigarette in her hand, and the strong vanilla scent filled the air, proclaiming her calmness and composure.

"Do you think you understand me just because you understand someone like An Han?" she suddenly raised her voice and said to the pile of cardboard boxes, but her sharp gaze remained fixed on Peng Fei behind the boxes, piercing straight into his heart.

"I have never doubted you, Miss Xiao." Peng Fei planned to keep Xiao Junyao calm for now, and then think of another way if she really let him hold out until then.

"Ding-ding-ding-ding-"

The phone on the table rang urgently, its sharp, piercing sound shattering the tense atmosphere in the room and interrupting the conversation between the two. Xiao Junyao's gaze quickly swept over Peng Fei, a hint of wariness flashing in her eyes. She narrowed her eyes slightly, scrutinizing Peng Fei's every move, and only after ensuring that he was temporarily unable to escape did she slowly turn away.

"What news do you have for me?" The voice on the other end of the phone was deep, as if he had been waiting for a long time, with a hint of barely perceptible fatigue.

"My sister... what happened to her—" Xiao Junyao's voice trembled slightly as she tried her best to hide the impulse surging within her, but she still couldn't completely conceal it. She asked in a low voice, "You'd better tell me yourself, otherwise..." Her words stopped abruptly, as if a invisible force had forcibly cut them off, but the threat contained within was self-evident.

"Are you threatening me, Na Ling?" Yu Lian's tone was very calm, even indifferent. He had already expected this reaction, and he immediately changed the subject without hesitation. "I said that as long as you do things seriously, I can completely protect you."

"Stop talking nonsense! Where is she?!" Xiao Junyao could no longer suppress her emotions. The anger, worry, and fear that had been building up inside her erupted like a volcano. She clenched her fists tightly, her nails digging deep into her palms, trying to distract herself from the physical and emotional pain.

"Hmph, things over there are far more complicated than you imagine. A few days ago, a member of the Deer Clan approached the V Group and openly revealed his true identity in front of the media, leaving behind a string of provocative words. The military is furious... In comparison, what about you? How much about this are you still hiding from me? Didn't you say that your entire clan is wiped out?"

Yu Lian's words were somewhat vague, deliberately avoiding Xiao Junyao's questions, but Peng Fei, who had been listening attentively, still managed to glean several crucial pieces of information from them.

Deer people?

Peng Fei wondered if he had misheard.

“Go and see those messy news reports yourself. The V Group is scrambling to get your sister right now, and I’m trying my best to bring her to you.” His voice was no longer as domineering as before; it even had a hint of coaxing in it.

But Yu Lian knew very well that all of this existed only in the lies he had woven. He would not tell Xiao Junyao that the sister she longed for day and night had become a stiff corpse.

The current situation is like a mirror that has been shattered on the ground; piecing it back together is harder than climbing to heaven.

The only means that could get her to comply was no longer working.

Upon hearing about V Group's involvement, Xiao Junyao's eyes instantly lost their luster, becoming dull and lifeless, and her face turned ashen.

"What I want is very simple: send me the specific address, and you will get the results you want." Her words were devoid of any emotional fluctuation, as if they were the chilling silence and stillness that followed a violent storm.

"How can I be sure you're not lying to me?" he asked suspiciously.

Xiao Junyao stared at the camera on the ceiling of the room and replied, "You can see Peng Fei through the camera, and An Han will disappear as you wish." After saying that, her gaze lingered on the small camera, as if she could see the scene on the other side through it.

Yu Lian remained silent for a long time on the other end of the phone, clearly struggling internally. However, he ultimately decided to do as Xiao Junyao instructed. Soon after, a detailed address, along with a unique document, was uploaded to Xiao Junyao's computer.

"That's for the best, Naling. Don't try any tricks." Yu Lian's suspicions finally arose, and he warned her sternly.

She hung up the phone expressionlessly, as if she hadn't seen Peng Fei struggling to break free beside her, and went straight to the computer desk to sit down.

In the blink of an eye, countless street photos from the confidential documents flooded Xiao Junyao's eyes like a tidal wave.

She maintained a sharp gaze, but rarely showed a hint of tenderness.

In the scene, a completely unfamiliar man and a girl with a vaguely familiar face stood out. The bright red symbol on the girl's face further solidified Xiao Junyao's long-held suspicions.

"Xiaoya...you really did hold on until now..." she murmured softly, her voice ethereal. Xiao Junyao reached out and gently touched the screen, as if trying to reach that distant figure through the cold glass.

"Your sister has come to take you home." After squeezing out these words through gritted teeth, she slowly stood up, faced Peng Fei directly, and without the slightest hesitation, tore off the mask-like pretense covering her face.

Peng Fei stared at her with wide eyes, his body involuntarily shrinking back.

"Who are you?!" His voice was filled with astonishment and disbelief. Although he had seen it on some third-rate news websites, he still refused to accept the terrifying reality before him.

"You're a member of the Deer Clan?!" Peng Fei exclaimed, as if he had seen something terrifying.

Although she was in shadow, Peng Fei could still see three bright red inverted triangles on her face, as if they had been carved out with a knife, a shocking sight. These three marks not only ruined her originally beautiful face, but also revealed an indescribable eerie aura.

No wonder… Peng recalled the first time he saw her at the Shenzhen Museum. At that time, he felt that this woman had an extraordinary, unfathomable, and impossible-to-ignore aura.

"I don't care about your so-called power struggles; I just want to reunite with my sister." Xiao Junyao walked quickly to Peng Fei, leaning forward slightly as if trying to shield him from something. Her eyes flickered, revealing a hint of tension and unease.

Peng Fei looked up at her, a puzzled expression on his face: "Did Yu Lian send you to kidnap me?"

Xiao Junyao gritted her teeth and said softly, "Not only that, he also plans to take this opportunity to get rid of you, and then get rid of your little girlfriend as well..." She paused slightly, as if thinking about how to express herself next.

After a moment of silence, Xiao Junyao took a deep breath and deliberately lowered her voice: "Listen carefully, now do as I say." Her tone was firm and decisive.

Then, she pointed to the ground and uttered two words: "Lie down—"

……

"Let's do it."

Yu Lian's voice was cold and resolute as he closely monitored everything unfolding on the monitor. He wasn't overly angry about Xiao Junyao's ulterior motives. In fact, he had already reached a conclusion—this woman had been trying to escape his control, but had simply lacked the right opportunity.

The liaison officer standing nearby looked worried: "Chairman, if a shootout breaks out now, it might attract the police... Shouldn't we consider the consequences?"

Yu Lian's face was ashen. He took a deep drag of his cigarette and slowly exhaled the smoke, his eyes fixed on the monitor. His tone left no room for argument: "Don't worry, I'll handle everything. Just let your men do their job."

At this moment, in the dilapidated corridor in the scene, a group of assassins dressed in stealth suits rushed out like ghosts, menacingly lying in ambush around the tightly closed door. Clearly, a fierce conflict was about to erupt.

"Tell them not to let their guard down. That woman is a member of the Deer Clan; she kills without blinking an eye."
