Chapter 21 Lunch and the Cat (He Yanzhi)

After finishing her coffee, Chongyue transferred the money to her.

He wasn't afraid of being embezzled, but Liu Chaoque still admired such a straightforward employer.

"How about I give you another name?" Liu Chaoque suggested. "How about we treat you as a distant relative of mine? We look the same but have different names, which can confuse the other person, although I feel it might be unnecessary."

“Sure.” Chong Yue answered without hesitation, making Liu Chaoque wonder if he was just waiting to use his new name.

"A thousand mountains covered in snow at dusk, and you love seas of flowers, how about calling me Si Mu Li?" Liu Chaoque laughed and said, "Suddenly, like a spring breeze overnight, thousands of pear trees bloom. You can choose the 'Li' from 'pear tree,' or you can choose the 'Li' from 'leaving.'"

"Mu Li looks delicious." Chong Yue commented, "But the character 'Mu' has a sense of dusk, so how about 'Mu'? It sounds like 'admiration,' like leaving is fine, which sounds a bit depressing. How about 'Si Mu Li'?"

"Okay." Liu Chaoque smiled and said, "Then its nickname is Pear. By the way, I didn't even ask what breed of cat it is?"

“Oh, I’m a lion cat,” Chongyue replied.

"A lion cat? That's a large cat. I don't know if we can keep one," Liu Chaoque said with some concern.

"What's wrong? I'm not a dog, why can't I be kept? I'm a local cat, why can't I be kept here? Should I go abroad and get a 'golden' make?" Chongyue suddenly bristled, his hair standing on end like popcorn.

Liu Chaoque quickly reassured her, "You can keep it, you can keep it. If it really doesn't work, I'll get a cat license. Little Moyun needs one too."

So Liu Chaoque's family gained a new member, Si Muli. With two cats as her masters, is she feeling a bit overwhelmed?

Liu Chaoque: Actually, it's not so bad, at least there's still a sugar daddy, Cat Cat.

It was getting late, and the expensive coffee wasn't enough to fill their stomachs. When it was time for a meal, their stomachs were empty.

Now that the conversation is over and Si Muli has checked in, it's time for them to move on to another location.

Despite having such a large sum of money, Liu Chaoque still looked for the cheapest lunches available; she wouldn't even dare to look at those costing several thousand yuan per meal.

But looking at the exquisite cat beside her, she still had to ask for his opinion: "Muli, what would you like to eat for lunch?"

"I want to have a seafood feast."

Liu Chaoque thought to himself, "As expected," and then looked at the black cat, saying softly, "Mo Mo, what do you want to eat?"

"I want to eat roast chicken." Mo Yun's answer wasn't particularly surprising.

"I want to eat noodles." Liu Chaoque checked the food delivery app. "How about we get some seafood noodles, roast duck noodles, or chicken rice?"

She was met with two heads shaking like rattles.

Okay, let's pretend she didn't say anything.

The three people had different requests. If they didn't want noodles or rice bowls, Liu Chaoque's limited culinary knowledge really couldn't think of anything else: "How about this, we buy Momo a roast chicken first, and then we go to a seafood buffet?"

"Seafood buffet? Do you have any seafood buffet options here?" Mu Li asked.

Liu Chaoque searched for a bit, and ten minutes later, she said somewhat dejectedly, "I've seen the pictures and really want to eat it, but after reading the comments, I don't dare to eat it."

"The main reason is that I haven't eaten it," Mu Li concluded.

“A secondary reason is that you’re not familiar with it,” Mo Yun replied.

One person and two cats stared blankly at the food delivery interface.

The summer heat made even the breeze feel hot, and she thought irritably, "I'll just eat something random; I'll fill my stomach anyway."

"Let's decide quickly anyway." Liu Chaoque fanned himself, a little impatiently. "How about this one?"

It was the seafood buffet they initially chose, and of course, it was the most expensive. "But there's a problem, is Mo Yun considered a child?"

"I have a question. Can we bring in a kitten that hasn't taken human form yet?" Mu Li asked with some concern.

"Let's give it a try." Liu Chaoque didn't care. She searched the surrounding area again: "If they won't let us cats in, we'll go to another place. We're not going to put up with this nonsense. They're blocking our customers from making money."

There are several noodle shops, restaurants, and fried food stalls nearby, so there are plenty of options.

"Okay." Mu Li looked at the delicious food around her, which meant she agreed to Liu Chaoque's idea.

Just as the two were about to hail a taxi, Mu Li suddenly said, "How about I stand outside and wait for you to finish eating before we leave together? That way, you won't have to worry about being stopped outside if you bring me along."

Liu Chaoque continued hailing a taxi, his hand involuntarily stroking the kitten's head, laughing and scolding, "The whole family is here, how can we leave you out to starve? It's their problem if they stop us, you don't need to compromise."

"If all else fails, we can always order takeout," Mu Li said. "We can find a place to squat and eat, that's fine too."

"We could have a picnic, but it's a bit hot now, so let's go to the mall instead." He secretly slipped the little black dog into his pocket and took it inside.

The two happily discussed the picnic arrangements, changing the seafood buffet to a seafood restaurant, depending on the situation; if they could eat there, they would go in and enjoy the meal.

After replanning the route, Liu Chaoque searched around and asked, "Shall we go to Shiyi Restaurant first? It's about 8 kilometers away. Do you want to take the bus or a taxi?"

"Let's take a taxi!" Si Muli and Mo Yun said in unison.

"Row."

The driver was three minutes away. Liu Chaoque was petting the kitten while chatting with Mu Li. Pedestrians passed by them, and Liu Chaoque and Mu Li dodged them, glancing at the roadside trees from time to time.

"What's on this menu? I've never seen anything like it before. Oh, there's even steamed hairy crab. I wonder how it's made." Si Muli complained as she looked around the restaurant and found a few seafood dishes that interested her.

"I'll order it and see. If it's not good, I won't eat it," Liu Chaoque said dismissively.

"I don't know if these clams are fresh or not, and I don't know if the oysters will be overcooked. Ugh, I feel like I'm going to step on a landmine."

"Let's try it," Liu Chaoque said. "After you've tasted it, you'll know whether you've fallen into a trap or not."

"Damn it, there's no caviar in this side dish, not even wasabi. Am I supposed to eat it plain?" Si Muli frowned in disgust.

“We can drink vinegar here,” Liu Chaoque said. “Isn’t wasabi sauce used when eating raw seafood? If you want some, you can go to the supermarket and buy some.”

"Never mind then, this grandpa thinks it's too far." Si Muli sighed.

This kid is so hard to please. I wonder what wasabi sauce tastes like.

"That……"

"Eat whatever you want, just don't waste food." The ride-hailing car on the map was almost there, so Liu Chaoque decided to end the conversation.

Her eyes scanned the speeding cars on the road, searching for the target license plate number. In a fleeting moment, she seemed to catch a glimpse of a profile across the street. She took out her phone and quickly snapped a picture.

“That man…” Liu Chaoque murmured.

"What man?" Mu Li asked.

"The license plate number is ZA3245, and the last four digits are 9527. You get in first, I have something to do."

Looking at the pedestrian crossing next to her, the red light was counting down to 10 seconds. Liu Chaoque took a step forward and ran onto the pedestrian crossing. As soon as the green light came on, she dashed across to the other side and chased after the person.

"Hey!"

"What?" Mu Li said, "You're my bodyguard!" He chased after her.

The driver who called to ask where someone was: So?

The figure wasn't walking fast, but when she chased him into the alleyway, she couldn't see him anywhere.

"Did I lose them?" Liu Chaoque muttered to himself.

"Are you looking for me?" A slightly cold voice sounded from behind her. She instinctively turned around and was met with a fist.

Liu Chaoque: Huh?

As she dodged, she said, "I meant no harm; I came to thank you."

After a dozen or so punches, the man finally stopped, his fist barely stopping at the tip of her nose. Looking at Liu Chaoque's face, he asked with some doubt, "Who are you?"

“Three months ago, in the east of the city, at the alley entrance, you saved me from a knife-wielding thug.” Liu Chaoque said with a helpless expression, tinged with reproach, “Have you forgotten?”

"Oh, I see?" The man finally recognized her, lowered his hand, and said helplessly, "Why are you following me?"

Liu Chaoque scratched his head, feeling embarrassed: "You didn't leave any contact information, not even your name. I couldn't find anyone to thank you. So when I finally saw you, I ran over to thank you. But maybe I did it wrong and made you think I was a bad person. I'm sorry."

For some reason, because she changed her major, she doesn't remember giving him a piece of drawing paper back then, nor does she know his name. So whether his name was Pei Midu is a mystery.

"Now that you've seen it and I've received your thanks, you can leave," the man said coldly.

"But I still don't know my benefactor's name," Liu Chaoque said regretfully and forlornly. "At least let me know who you are..."

She hung her head, like an eggplant felled by frost.

“He Yanzhi,” the man said.

"Hmm?" Liu Chaoque looked up in confusion, staring blankly at him. Her big, watery eyes were full of his reflection, making him feel an urge to pat her head.

The man pursed his lips: "He Yanzhi, Yan is the Yan of Junyan, Zhi is the Zhi of Zhilan Yushu. Now you know my name."

He turned away, no longer looking into her eyes that seemed to draw others in.

Liu Chaoque blinked. He Yanzhi had actually changed her name.

Before she had taken two steps, He Yanzhi turned back, a hint of frustration on her indifferent face. She handed him a business card: "This is my contact information. Call this number if you need anything, and I'll come help you."

"Thank you." Liu Chaoque smiled, revealing two little crescent moons, making her look even more adorable.

He Yanzhi's hand felt an uncontrollable urge to touch her head again.

The business card had the name of a law firm on it. Liu Chaoque exclaimed in surprise, "You're a lawyer? That's amazing!"

"It's alright." Although he said that, He Yanzhi's lips involuntarily curled up slightly: "I can help you with any lawsuit, and for things other than lawsuits..." He took out another business card.

Liu Chaoque glanced at it and saw it was a business card from a bodyguard at a certain company. He said, "I can help you too."

"Okay." Liu Chaoque smiled and said, "Thank you, benefactor."

"Hmm." He Yanzhi tilted her head back, not daring to look at her again.

Is this little girl a little fox? She's so bewitching.

Despite his cool appearance, He Yanzhi is completely powerless against small animals.

"Then I'm leaving." He Yanzhi thought for a moment, and figured there was nothing else to say, so he moved his hand.

"Okay, thank you, benefactor, goodbye." Liu Chaoque smiled even more sweetly.

He Yanzhi's departing figure seemed to convey a sense of dejection.

Liu Chaoque blinked; she must have been wrong. She looked at the two business cards, lost in thought. It seemed even the game couldn't be entirely trusted; even the same person could have different names, different experiences, and even different professions.

Could it be that this is actually a parallel world, and the game is just a reference to them, but her cheat ability still exists, still reminding her that this is just a game world, where people operate according to a predetermined program, and her different fates may just be her butterfly effect, or a bug.
