Rebirth: Supreme Soul Master
Chapter 22 The Strict Master
"This..." Elena was startled just by seeing William's final state. She immediately deactivated the useless shield, appeared beside him, and supported his body with her strong arms.
"Yes... thank you..." William was too exhausted to speak. He had indeed gone too far in those five minutes, pushing his body to its limits.
“Here,” Elena said, taking out a yellow bottle and handing it to William. “This is Spirit Breath, one of the best remedies for restoring energy and relieving fatigue.”
"Thank you." William couldn't refuse such a precious gift from her. As far as he knew, a bottle like this would cost at least a thousand spirit crystals! And even less than this.
He only drank a sip of the potion, and immediately felt refreshed. A few drops were enough to restore his exhausted strength. After all, William was originally just a weak Soul Master.
Moreover, William didn't want to use up all these precious potions at once. He planned to save a few drops for future adventures.
“I have to admit,” Elena said honestly, “your master is indeed a genius! But she’s also a ruthless person!”
William wanted to force a wry smile, but he restrained himself. If this was considered harsh, then what would Alina call the inhuman training her master had given her back then?
“Thank you,” William said sincerely, pointing to the medicine she had given him.
"It's nothing, I just wanted to see what you would do in the end." Elena waved her hand and stood aside without moving.
This potion might be priceless to someone like William, but it's nothing to Elena.
"Aren't you going back?" William pointed to where Elena had been standing. But Elena shook her head.
“I now believe what you’re saying…you won’t just throw your life away like that,” she said firmly, her main goal being to observe more closely and attentively the innovative things William was doing here.
She didn't want to miss anything he did, and from this experience, she might even try to replicate everything that followed.
William had seen through her intentions, but he didn't stop her. She had sworn to keep what she had seen here a secret. Besides, she had already paid a price to obtain such a privilege with this potion.
With his strength replenished, he returned to repeat the same process. The drawback of this method lies not only in the physical fatigue it causes, but also in the time it consumes.
William can only process the ore once every five minutes. He also needs at least a few minutes to drink a few drops of the potion and rest.
With the presence of the spiritual herb's aura, he became bolder and exerted more effort, halving the time required. But that wasn't enough.
It took him more than fifteen hours to complete this arduous task. By then, it was getting dark outside, and night had fallen, but he did not stop, nor did Elena leave.
For the first hour, she watched his every move without blinking. The more she watched, the more she admired William and his mysterious master.
So, he used a hammer to remove the impurities... using vibration to cleanse this violent ore without triggering its energy... Amazing! Why didn't I consider using the same method before?
She had been thinking of trying to purify those vibrant ores using the same method. However, the thought of her lack of experience in such an operation made her hold back.
And so she decided to continue observing and learning, imitating William's movements in her mind so that she could better imprint them in her memory.
One day, she was hungry, so she sent one of her apprentices with a delicious meal that was enough for five people.
William refused to eat until he completed the task. He was completely absorbed in the process. He feared that he would lose focus if he stopped. So he spurred himself on and continued.
His fatigue had been swept away by the medicine. His strength had also been restored. But his body still needed to eat, and his mind couldn't recover from the mental exhaustion that had kept him constantly focused, just like his body. Just a few hours before he stopped, his stomach had started to ache, making strange noises from time to time. As for his mind, he felt a nagging headache, as if his head had been cruelly split open by an axe or something similar.
"Phew, done." When he finally finished cleaning the last piece, he stopped and drank a few drops to replenish his strength. When he saw that it was pitch black outside, he couldn't help but feel a little strange.
He then realized that Elena had been right beside him the whole time, without moving an inch. This meant she had been there for over fifteen hours!
"Doesn't she have anything else to do?" William wondered to himself as Elena pointed to a new wooden table brought by her disciple.
"Come on, let's eat."
"Thank you." The sight of food triggered an uncontrollable surge of his suppressed hunger. Without any hesitation, he sat down opposite Elena and devoured the food like a monster.
"Hahaha, keep it simple, or you'll choke, hahaha!" Seeing him like this, Alina's mood improved considerably. Just then, William returned to the eight-year-old child's side, the mysterious aura he had emitted during the forging process vanishing without a trace.
Elena might buy the Mystery Master's story, but who says reading a book is enough to become an expert?
One must be talented, but that's not enough. Continuous training in these skills and techniques is also necessary. So even if William had a master as powerful as he claimed, that master also had a formidable disciple capable of wielding such skills with such precision.
"I can't believe you're only eight years old." Elena couldn't help but show surprise after asking his age. "I see you're a porter, why don't you quit this useless job and come work for us?"
In her view, if William continued working as a porter, his talent would be wasted and left to languish. William, while eating his fill, replied:
"I will, but not now."
"why?"
William continued eating, feeling his headache and hunger being cleansed by the food.
“This is my master’s wish.” William shrugged, a helpless expression on his face, as if it was not something he could decide.
"Sigh, your master... I can't criticize her, but her methods are just too strange." Elena couldn't believe that a master, at the very moment when she herself could shine, would force her apprentice to do such lowly work. Living the life of a king in the forging department.
But if William was surprised by his abilities, then she was certain his master must be someone else entirely. How could she possibly utter such teachings from a master like that?
