Rebirth of a Farmer's Dad

Chapter 49 Preparation Training

Luo Feng, who had been drinking all night, had no idea how he got home. He couldn't even remember what he had done after drinking the night before.

This is probably what people often refer to as blacking out from drinking.

To be honest, it wasn't a pleasant experience. When Luo Feng woke up the next day, he felt like his head was about to explode. He was also weak all over and felt drowsy and listless.

Normally, Luo Feng wouldn't be able to focus on work in this state. He knew that in this condition, he wouldn't be able to fully concentrate, and it would actually have a negative effect.

But Luo Feng doesn't have time to rest right now. He just called the shop yesterday, and barring any unforeseen circumstances, Biaozi and the other two should be arriving at his house today. That means starting today, Luo Feng will begin training them.

In order not to delay his plan to contract the canteen or affect the development of his business, Luo Feng was determined to go all out.

Making a big pot of stew isn't actually complicated, but it's still quite a challenge for three complete novices who have never cooked before.

More importantly, their learning is time-limited; they must complete the course within two months. This is precisely Luo Feng's dilemma, as it is difficult to strike a balance between quality and efficiency.

No matter how difficult or painful it is, for his own future, for everyone's future, and for his daughter's future, Luo Feng has no choice but to give it his all.

The equipment was plentiful at home; the set that Hanzi had borrowed had long since been brought back. So now all that was left was cleaning and preparing the materials.

Luo Feng first washed all the equipment and laid it out to dry. Then he made breakfast for his daughter, having bought all the ingredients himself a few days earlier.

After finishing these tasks, Luo Feng decided to go to the market to see if there was anything else he needed to buy. He decided not to bring apricot blossoms this time, feeling it was unnecessary, given the long and difficult road from the village to the town.

I originally thought that as long as I told Xinghua about this, she would definitely be happy to stay in the village, since no child would want to walk more than ten miles in this awful weather.

But things didn't go as planned. To his surprise, his daughter insisted on going with him. The reason was simple: she told him directly that she was afraid her father would be kidnapped by a bad woman.

This statement left Luo Feng speechless, but he didn't want to say anything too much, lest he make the little girl cry again.

Left with no other option, Luo Feng took his daughter to the market. He thought to himself that if she couldn't walk any further, he would carry her on his back.

But his daughter's behavior made him very happy; she never asked him to carry her even once on the more than ten-mile journey.

It must be said that children of this period were very hardworking, especially those from rural areas. Their spirit of hard work and perseverance was far beyond what children of later generations, who were pampered and spoiled, could ever match.

Before Luo Feng could finish his reflection, the father and daughter had already arrived at the market. Luo Feng strolled around the market and bought some essential seasonings. Afterwards, Luo Feng decided to wait in town for Biaozi and the other two to arrive, and then they could all go back together, looking out for each other on the way.

The rest was simple. After Luo Feng bought the seasonings he needed, the father and daughter casually found a stall, ordered some miscellaneous food, and ate while waiting.

The wait wasn't too long. The father and daughter had finished breakfast and rushed to town, arriving around 9:00 AM. Biaozi and his group arrived around 2:00 PM. So the entire wait was only a few hours.

Honestly, spending four or five hours at the market isn't a big deal. Especially for someone like Luo Feng, a regular customer with many acquaintances at the market. Those few hours might not even be enough for him to chat with his old friends.

The hardest part is that it's the height of summer. The sky is clear and cloudless, and the sun hangs high in the blue sky, as if it wants to unleash its most powerful heat to bake everything on the ground.

Under such circumstances, Luo Feng naturally felt that time was passing very slowly.

Fortunately, with the arrival of Biaozi and his two companions, Luo Feng's agonizing wait finally came to an end.

Seeing the three exhausted people after a morning's journey, Luo Feng knew they definitely hadn't had lunch yet. He had originally planned to grab something to eat in town, but the three refused.

We all come from the countryside, and the spirit of diligence and thrift seems to be ingrained in the bones of country people, something that no one can erase.

Of course, Luo Feng utterly disdained their approach. Perhaps it was because his future self had grown accustomed to city life. Subconsciously, Luo Feng always believed that one should eat when one is hungry and drink when one is thirsty, and that some essential expenses in life should not be spared.

Just like this time, Biaozi and his two friends went hungry to save money, forcing themselves to endure until they returned to the village for dinner. Luo Feng couldn't agree with this approach. Health is the foundation of everything; who's responsible if someone ruins their health by starving?

However, Luo Feng didn't say much about their choices. After all, people are different, and you can't expect everyone to act according to your ideas.

Then, the group returned to the village. All the way, Luo Feng could hear the rumbling stomachs of Biaozi and the other two. Especially Zhou Manfu, who was already fat and naturally couldn't stand being hungry. He wondered what kind of willpower had kept him going until now.

Because Biaozi and his two companions hadn't eaten lunch and had traveled all afternoon, when they arrived home, they lay down on the kang (a heated brick bed) and couldn't get up anymore.

Luo Feng wasn't bothered, since he had food in his stomach. He settled his daughter, who was already asleep behind him, into a small room, and then went to prepare dinner for the three of them.

Having skipped lunch and driven all afternoon, dinner naturally needed to be more substantial. Fortunately, Luo Feng had prepared all the necessary ingredients a few days prior, so the family had no shortage of food.

Luo Feng spared no effort in preparing this dinner. It was arguably the best meal he could manage under the current circumstances.

Luo Feng put in the effort, and the result was self-evident. Everyone devoured the meal, almost swallowing their tongues in the process.

Seeing everyone devour the food on the table, then pat their bellies and let out happy burps, Luo Feng felt very satisfied.

For a chef, this kind of behavior from diners is the greatest reward.

However, Luo Feng didn't care much about any of that at the moment. What he cared about was that now that everyone was present, training could begin tomorrow, and his grand plan to make a fortune could take another step forward.

Thinking of this, Luo Feng couldn't help but feel much better.

"I've waited so long for this day; I've dreamed so long for this dream to come true." Overwhelmed with excitement, Luo Feng couldn't help but belt out a song again.
