We bear people have power

Chapter 9 Home and Parting

Although there were people living at the foot of Luojia Mountain, it was not a bustling town. Instead, it appeared desolate due to its remote location and barren land. Guan Bo did not intend to stay in the village for long, but since this was Yingcao's former residence, he couldn't help but venture inside.

However, Guan Bo knew he was huge, so he always chose to stay in the dense forest and avoid being seen by others.

As they got closer, the little grass on her back excitedly shouted, "My home is over there!"

The little hand had just pointed forward when it immediately turned melancholy.

"It's a pity that Grandpa is no longer here."

Xiao Yingcao and Yingcao are no different except for their memories with Guan Bo. Even the memories of spending every day together are slowly being made up for during this time.

Guan Bo was somewhat bewildered, and the distinction between the two of them began to blur.

Thinking of this, Guan Bo asked Xiao Yingcao, "Do you still want to revive your grandfather?"

"But, isn't the Bodhisattva unwilling?" Xiao Yingcao said sadly.

Guan Bo remained silent, recalling how Yingcao, before seeing Guanyin Bodhisattva, persevered in climbing the mountain the next day no matter how painful the fall was.

But after Yingcao met Guanyin Bodhisattva, would she have given up?

Guan Bo could not answer this question.

"Are you going home?" Guan Bo asked.

"There's no one home." Although Xiao Yingcao said this, her eyes were filled with envy as she looked at the children playing in the village.

"Go if you want to," Guan Bo advised Xiao Yingcao.

"They never play with me and they love to bully me." Xiao Yingcao's eyes were filled with tears, but she kept looking at them.

"Why is that?" Guan Bo asked curiously.

"Because I don't have parents."

"..." Guan Bo could only remain silent once again.

After a while, Guan Bo asked Xiao Yingcao, "Do you want to play with them?"

"No way... Do you have a way?" Xiao Yingcao's tone changed quite quickly.

“We can do this…” Guan Bo whispered a few words to Xiao Yingcao, and the little girl’s eyes lit up.

The village at the foot of Luojia Mountain is named Guanyin Village, presumably to borrow the blessings of the Bodhisattva and hope for prosperity in all its endeavors. However, in recent years, the villagers' lives have only been peaceful, not particularly prosperous. But such days are not bad, and everyone lives contentedly day after day.

To the east of the village lies a children's paradise. There are ancient trees as large as canopies, clear streams, and seas of flowers and butterflies—it's a truly enchanting place.

But after watching it for a long time, it becomes uninteresting, and the children just play the same repetitive games and get by.

Perhaps we'll miss these carefree days when we grow up, but we might not cherish them as much now.

Suddenly, a delicious aroma wafted over, attracting all the children.

The aroma is so refreshing that just one breath makes you feel completely relaxed.

The children dashed off in the direction of the aroma and saw Xiaoyingcao (a type of grass) munching on bamboo shoots on a small hillside.

This is a treasure dug up from deep within the purple bamboo forest, the best quality one, which Guan Bo usually can't bear to eat.

These are all treasures imbued with spiritual energy; the children's mouths watered at the sight of them.

"Yingcao? Didn't you get eaten by a monster on the mountain?" A little boy who looked like the leader of the children stepped forward and said.

This little brat had dark skin and looked to be under ten years old, but he was quite tall, more than two heads taller than Yingcao.

"You're the one who got eaten by a monster!" Little Yingcao retorted sharply.

"How could it not be? You went up the mountain that day and never came down. Everyone said you were eaten by the black bear spirit on the mountain."

"Xie Rulin, are you blind? I'm perfectly fine here, but I saw your dad get hung on a purple bamboo by a monster two months ago when he went up the mountain," Xiao Yingcao said proudly.

Xie Rulin felt embarrassed after hearing this.

"You little jinx, you've already caused the deaths of your own parents and your own grandfather, are you coming back now to bring misfortune to our whole village?"

These words were extremely malicious and could cause psychological trauma to a child. The other children joined in, hurling insults at Xiaoyingcao in various ways, even throwing stones at her.

A sharp pebble landed on Xiaoyingcao's forehead, leaving a bloody mark and staining her face.

Just then, a roar came, and the huge howl made the kids stagger.

Guan Bo's massive size, coupled with his deliberately menacing expression, terrified the kids so much that they wet their pants.

Just as they were all so panicked they could barely stand, Xiao Yingcao ran out and stood in front of Guan Bo.

Xiao Yingcao waved the bamboo shoot in her hand at Guan Bo, who then spun around in response. Then, Xiao Yingcao threw the bamboo shoot far away, and Guan Bo pretended to pounce on it.

"Why aren't you running? Are you waiting to die?" Xiao Yingcao shouted at the brats.

The little devils had just woken up and were running away as fast as they could.

Guan Bo pretended to be only focused on eating bamboo shoots, but actually just turned his back to the kids without actually eating them.

He wasn't so eager to eat bamboo shoots that were covered in Xiaoyingcao's saliva and dirt.

Meanwhile, the children ran around in a chaotic frenzy. Xie Rulin, regaining his senses, ran to Xiao Yingcao's side, squatted down, and shouted, "Come on, I'll carry you!"

Perhaps because she had never been treated like this before, Xiao Yingcao hesitated for a moment, but before she could say anything, Xie Rulin picked her up and ran away.

The little girl was light, while Xie Rulin was particularly strong, and he ran quite fast carrying Xiao Yingcao.

Before long, the villagers, having heard that a monster had appeared, came out with pitchforks and hoes.

Guan Bo put on a convincing act, fooling the villagers for a while before pretending to be outmatched and fleeing into the dense forest.

However, Guan Bo did not go far, but hid in the woods and kept a close eye on the situation in the village.

The villagers breathed a sigh of relief after "driving away" Guan Bo, after all, with Guan Bo's huge size, if a fight broke out, who knows how many lives would be lost.

The kids then cried out in relief, hoping to garner some sympathy from their parents and perhaps avoid a beating, and even get a piece of smoked meat for dinner.

Xiao Yingcao was still being carried on Xie Rulin's shoulder when she finally had a chance to stand on solid ground.

Xie Rulin awkwardly wiped the blood from Xiao Yingcao's face, which he had gotten from throwing stones earlier. However, the next moment Xiao Yingcao saved his life, which made Xie Rulin quite embarrassed.

At that moment, a mischievous child pointed at Xiaoyingcao and said, "It's this jinx; she's the one who lured the monster here!"

Xiao Yingcao felt a pang of grievance, but she still bit her lip and stubbornly held back her tears.

At this moment, Xie Rulin shielded Xiao Yingcao behind him and said to the brat, "You ungrateful bastard! If it weren't for Yingcao, we would all have been eaten by the monster. She lured the monster away, which is how we escaped with our lives. How can you twist the truth like this?!"

Xie Rulin was usually a leader among children, and as soon as he said this, the brat was so frightened that he hid behind his mother and didn't dare to say a word in rebuttal.

"From now on, anyone who bullies Yingcao will be going against me, Xie Rulin."

The little boy's manly demeanor didn't elicit laughter; instead, it drew cheers and applause.

It was probably the first time Xiaoyingcao had felt the care of someone her own age, and she felt that this feeling was quite wonderful, as if something warm was seeping into her heart.

But at that moment, when Xiaoyingcao turned around and saw that familiar figure was not beside her, her heart felt empty and she felt very sad.

Although Guan Bo was far away, he saw the scene very clearly.

"I guess it's better for me to travel alone." Guan Bo gave a wry smile, and his figure disappeared into the dense forest.
