We bear people have power

Chapter 63 The Desire of a Geek

Guan Bo said, "This question has been bothering me for a long time. If I could know the answer, even if I lost, my life... oh, my demonic life would have fewer regrets."

"Stop talking nonsense, it's already dawn." Black Impermanence looked at the deepening darkness on the horizon and knew that it was the hour before dawn.

"Um, what I want to ask is, when will Detective Conan end?" Guan Bo asked earnestly, his tone filled with deep resentment and longing. He really wanted to know the answer.

"Ke~ What the hell?" If Hei Wuchang hadn't been breathing for so many years, he would have almost choked to death.

He had thought that no matter what the problem was, he would be able to get a general idea based on his thousands of years of experience wandering the underworld. But Guan Bo's opening remarks left him completely dumbfounded.

I glanced at the White Impermanence; this one was similar, but since he was used to having a blank expression, his bewildered state wasn't as obvious.

When Guan Bo asked the question, he didn't intend to make any big news, nor did he know that the Black and White Impermanence could communicate with Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva instantly.

Therefore, it was just a clever trick.

But what he didn't know was that this cleverness was directed at all the gods and Buddhas.

Black Impermanence was quite decisive; realizing he couldn't even understand the question, he immediately relayed the message back to Judge Cui in the underworld.

This Judge Cui is not a martial arts master like Black Impermanence; he is the magistrate of Changzi County in Luzhou, and like Bao Zheng in later generations, he is a capable person who can judge the mortal world by day and the yin and yang world by night.

Although he is ranked last among the four judges of the underworld, he is the most famous.

With such a great reputation, Judge Cui must be a knowledgeable and capable person; otherwise, how could he judge so many mysterious cases? But when faced with this question from Black Impermanence, he could only scratch his head.

"Conan? What's that?" Judge Cui couldn't help but pluck out a few hairs from his beard, but still found nothing.

Out of desperation, I flipped through the Book of Life and Death, and there didn't seem to be many characters named Conan, and he didn't seem to have anything to do with any grand finale.

However, Black Impermanence said that this matter was the Bodhisattva's decree, and that they must do everything possible to find the answer.

Therefore, Judge Cui used his supernatural powers to travel thousands of miles to a small courtyard in Chang'an City.

In the early hours of the morning, an old man was sitting cross-legged in the small courtyard, looking like a wise and venerable sage.

"Brother Yuan, I'm truly sorry to disturb you so late at night." Judge Cui politely bowed.

"I did foresee that someone would be visiting tonight, but I didn't expect it to be you. Could it be that I miscalculated your lifespan, and today is the day you go to the underworld?" the old man laughed.

“Brother Yuan, you are joking. You are an unparalleled diviner, how could you possibly miscalculate your own lifespan? I have come today to ask you for a favor.”

The man Judge Cui found was Yuan Shoucheng, an extraordinary figure whose divination skills were unparalleled in the court. The Dragon King of the Jing River had once wagered against him, and Yuan had accurately predicted the Jade Emperor's decree, ultimately costing the Dragon King his life.

Therefore, Judge Cui immediately thought of asking him for help.

"Judge Cui, you need something from me? I'm no match for your abilities," Yuan Shoucheng said, puzzled.

"Only Brother Yuan can help with this matter. I know that Brother Yuan's ability to calculate is unparalleled in the world, so I would like to ask Brother Yuan to help me calculate a sentence."

Judge Cui repeated Guan Bo's question once more, and then... another person in the world was left completely bewildered.

"This... Conan is a person's name?" Yuan Shoucheng asked hesitantly.

"It should be...yes." Judge Cui was also a little uncertain.

“I should…” Yuan Shoucheng finally understood why Judge Cui looked so troubled.

However, Yuan Shoucheng did not refuse and quickly took out the tortoise shell and copper coins, and seriously cast a divination.

The moment the copper coins were placed inside the tortoise shell, and it was shaken even once, a cracking sound was heard, and the shell shattered. The three copper coins inside fell to the ground and broke into six pieces.

Upon seeing this, Yuan Shoucheng sighed and said, "I am not skilled enough to perform this divination."

The tortoise shell and copper coins shattered, indicating that the divination result had exceeded Yuan Shoucheng's calculations. Judge Cui was secretly alarmed. Judge Cui knew that Yuan Shoucheng's divination skills could even accurately predict the Jade Emperor's decrees. Thinking about it this way, this seemingly nonsensical statement actually contained a profound mystery.

This matter was beyond the control of a mere judge in the underworld, so Judge Cui could only apologize to Yuan Shoucheng and hurried off to the underworld.

Judge Cui immediately reported Guan Bo's question to King Yama, but King Yama was also completely baffled, so he simply summoned the divine beast Di Ting.

The mythical beast Di Ting is a unique creature of heaven and earth. Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva once praised it, saying: "I bow to the pure and untainted mind, the Great Compassionate One with boundless Buddha-treasure."

This mythical beast can distinguish the sounds of all things in the world, especially the human heart, and can discern good from evil and wisdom from foolishness. In the Journey to the West, only Di Ting and the Buddha could distinguish between the Six-Eared Macaque and the Great Sage Equal to Heaven.

The King of Hell summoned Di Ting not so that the mythical beast could answer the question, but rather to have it use its supernatural powers to listen to Guan Bo's inner thoughts. He wanted to see if the question was just empty talk; if it was, then where would the answer come from?

Unfortunately, the Di Ting divine beast simply shook its head upon hearing the question. Di Ting could penetrate the Nine Netherworlds and hear Guan Bo's innermost thoughts, thus it could judge that the question was indeed well-founded and not something Guan Bo had made up.

However, how could Di Ting know that this question was also unsolvable for Guan Bo, so it was impossible for him to know the answer by reading minds?

In this situation, even Yama, the King of Hell, could only pass the problem on to Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva, indicating that he was also at a loss.

Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva never expected that the entire underworld would be stumped by a single problem, especially since the Book of Life and Death records the life stories of all living beings, yet no result could be found.

When will Detective Conan end?

Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva repeated it, for even with his great wisdom, he could not figure out the answer.

A Buddhist swastika mantra contained this sentence, which passed through hell, rushed out of the underworld, and flew straight to Mount Sumeru. Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva actually sent this question directly to the Western Paradise.

When Venerable Kasyapa and Venerable Ananda received the decree from Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva, they thought it was something important, but upon unfolding it, they found it to be such an inappropriate sentence.

"Could it be that the Bodhisattva has been in hell for too long and is filled with greed, anger, ignorance, and resentment? Otherwise, why would he issue such a decree? Giving some kind of official position would be better than this ridiculous problem," Venerable Kasyapa cursed.

This kind of human relations is bribery. Don't say that all Buddhist monks are virtuous. If that were true, there would be no Arhats or Bodhisattvas; everyone would have become a Buddha.

“You dare ask for favors from Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva? I think you’ve gone mad from chanting sutras. Go and relay this to the Buddha. Once you understand the great matter of the Bodhisattva, you can forget about favors for the rest of your life,” Ananda said with a laugh.

Kasyapa said it casually, but dared not be negligent. He just muttered to himself that it was too disrespectful to bother the Buddha Tathagata with such a obviously nonsense question.

As always, the Buddha sat serenely on his lotus throne, his brows brimming with wisdom and compassion, his divine eyes illuminating the myriad worlds.

The decree was presented, and Kasyapa waited respectfully for the Buddha's instructions.

He had thought he would receive the decree to reply to Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva shortly, but after waiting for a long time, the Buddha still did not give any instructions.

Unable to resist looking up, Kasyapa was horrified to discover that the Buddha, with his hand in a gesture of holding up a flower, was still calculating. The Buddha, who could see through the three thousand worlds, was actually calculating with all his might for such a single sentence?
