Chapter 63 (Xiao Kong) Turning Around to Embrace the Sea 1
This is Kong's first time on the open sea.
It was evening, and looking out, the sea was calm and still. Only the moonlight reflected on the water, creating shimmering waves that, in harmony with the movement of the water, produced a beautiful and luminous scene.
Suddenly, he saw a trail streak across the once calm sea. He couldn't see it clearly at first, and when he looked again, the surface was calm again. "It must be some kind of fish; it's swimming really fast," he muttered to himself as he observed. Then, he yawned, feeling a little sleepy, and returned to his cabin.
Sora encouraged herself, telling herself to get some sleep and be well-rested so she could go to that famous island to find seashells tomorrow—the seashells she had been longing to see for so long! Perhaps because she was a little excited, Sora tossed and turned in bed a few times before finally falling asleep. Bathed in the bright moonlight and with the sound of a rocking boat, Sora slept soundly.
His golden hair, illuminated by the moonlight, radiated a breathtaking beauty. Like an unclaimed treasure, it flaunted its dazzling brilliance. In the darkness, a pair of golden eyes glanced at him imperceptibly, a hint of fondness in their gaze.
Sora woke up early in the morning. After quickly getting ready, his eyes lit up as he looked at the approaching island. He gazed at the island with excitement, observing everything on it. The island was covered in lush greenery, with scattered wildflowers adding a touch of beauty. It was this beauty that delighted Sora.
"Mr. Kong, make sure you bring plenty of food and remember to come back before evening. If you get injured or anything, remember to signal us and we'll definitely come back for you."
The captain gave Sora detailed instructions, telling him some things to be careful about when walking on the island, and reminded him to be careful as he picked up his backpack.
Kong smiled and nodded in response, then gathered her belongings and headed to the other side of the beach.
Upon arriving on the island, Sora was surprised to find some adorable native inhabitants. Fluffy little birds would perch on Sora's shoulders, their soft wingtips brushing against him as if they were being affectionate. Sora carefully reached out to touch them, and the birds didn't flinch, simply allowing him to stroke them obediently.
Not only small birds, but also tiny lizards, agile red foxes... they would all approach him when they saw him. He was quite surprised by the animals' friendliness, but he naturally accepted their approach, assuming that they were not afraid of humans because they lived on a secluded island.
Kong spent a long time walking around the island, enjoying the company of these adorable little animals. For convenience, he braided his long, golden hair into a plait. Birds would often perch on his head or shoulders, gently touching his braid with their beaks.
Sora wandered through the island, observing the various green plants around him. Unaffected by human interference, they grew freely and unrestrained, making his journey considerably more difficult. However, Sora didn't consider these minor difficulties insignificant and even thought about taking some specimens with him before leaving to give to his friends.
The island wasn't very big. Finally, after walking for two or three hours, Kong arrived at his destination.
The other beach looked more expansive, but it had many nearby reefs, making it difficult for boats to anchor. The fine sand on the beach glittered in the sunlight, momentarily dazzling Sora's eyes. But Sora quickly adapted and excitedly ran towards the beach like a child, scaring away the crabs that had been crawling around freely.
Sora walked along the beach, carefully selecting the seashells. As a painter, he often created art. He had only seen the patterns of these seashells in books before, but they had captivated him. Now, being able to touch them himself, he was naturally overjoyed.
It was precisely because of Kong's joy that he slightly lowered his guard. Therefore, he failed to notice that a creature was hiding behind a reef, watching him intently. Because it was not human, its gaze towards Kong was filled with a love distinctly different from that of a human—a love tinged with possessiveness. Due to its own restraint, its gaze, which should have been clear, became much more obscure.
He watched the golden human bend down to pick up seashells from the beach, the human's fair waist exposed with the movement, very beautiful. He didn't know why this golden human liked these useless things. However, the clever boy didn't care; he only wanted to befriend the golden human so he could have him.
So, after carefully selecting a few seashells, Kong looked up and saw a white, glowing human arm protruding from the edge of the reef. Kong was startled and quickly put down what he was holding, approaching the 'person' in distress.
As Sora approached, he realized that this was not a victim of the disaster, or rather, not human. Sora stared in astonishment at the creature before him; every part of its body was perfect, with long, bluish-green hair clinging to its skin, which did nothing to conceal its muscles.
What made Sora realize he wasn't human was that where his ears should have been, there were exquisitely crafted ear fins. They looked thin and shimmered in the sunlight. His fingers were also different from humans; they were connected by a thin membrane like that of a fish, strange yet possessing a unique beauty.
As Sora approached, his golden eyes shone brightly upon him, and his stunningly beautiful face momentarily stunned Sora. He couldn't resist reaching out to touch his eyes, but at the last second, Sora stopped himself.
To Kong's surprise, the creature before him showed neither anger nor agitation upon seeing Kong's actions. It merely glanced at Kong as he withdrew his hand, then cautiously approached him as if afraid of hurting him. Finally, it rested its cheek against Kong's still hand, rubbing against Kong's palm like a red fox on an island.
Sora's eyes were filled with surprise; he hadn't expected this seemingly human creature to be so docile. Seeing that the creature showed no signs of aggression, Sora cautiously approached it, observing it more closely.
Then Sora discovered that its lower body was a large fish tail. Perched on the rocks, its scales appeared even whiter and shimmering in comparison. Sora suddenly realized that the creature before him might be a mermaid from legend.
What a wondrous island! Not only are there beautiful seashells, but I've also encountered such amazing creatures. Sora marveled inwardly, then asked the merman before her with some concern, "Are you stranded on the beach? How can I help you?"
The golden-eyed merman stared intently at Sora, finally offering him a faint smile. He ran his fingers along the back of Sora's hand, then patted his silver tail and swam towards the shore.
Sora watched the departing merman, then looked down at the back of her hand. It wasn't injured or painful, just a faint white mark.
