Chapter 3 (Sati) The Stars Are Your Gift 2

Perhaps because he was too tired last night, little Senuo slept for a long time the next day. His parents quietly peeked into his room before leaving for work. They left him plenty of food and a thoughtful note.

Seno slept peacefully, dreaming of studying the star-like plants in the forest with Tinari. Tinari even enthusiastically found another star-like plant imbued with lightning element and placed them together. Upon waking, Seno felt the small bottle clutched in his hand. He realized last night wasn't a dream; he might have really encountered a strange cabbage, but it must have been a very kind cabbage. Seno decided he would never eat cabbage again, as a way of repaying the cabbage from the previous night.

Seno carefully opened the small bottle in his hand, and when he saw the fireflies inside, he instantly became excited. Great! He was going to give Ti a surprise tonight.

As evening fell, Seno, carrying the bottle, ran to Tinari's house.

Perhaps because the little fox had been raised very healthily from a young age, he recovered quickly. By this time, Tinari was almost fully recovered, and he was sitting at his desk reading a comic book. He was happy to see Seno enter, put down his book, and went to his side.

"Little Ti, Little Ti, I have something good to show you." He then drew the curtains and turned off the lights. Next, he opened the small bottle in his hand. Instantly, tiny specks of light appeared, illuminating the dim room.

"Is this a firefly?" The clever little fox remembered the species after a brief moment of thought.

"Yes, yes, I found it in the forest."

"It's so beautiful, it looks like a star."

"Of course, this is the biggest and brightest one I found. That way I can give you the star."

In the dimly lit room, Tinari couldn't see Seno's face clearly, but he could hear Seno's voice, breathing, and heartbeat perfectly. He knew these fireflies must be very hard to find, and he wondered how long this fool had been searching. A surge of intense emotion suddenly welled up from within him, and little Tinari touched his chest somewhat bewilderedly, then smiled.

“I really like the star you gave me, thank you, Seno.”

That night, the two children slept together. The next morning, when Tinari's mother entered the room, she saw the two children sleeping head to head, hand in hand, with little Tinari's tail still covering little Seno's belly.

Tina's illness was almost cured. The two boys made a pact to go into the forest to find where fireflies could appear.

It rained lightly yesterday, and the weather is very refreshing today. The forest feels completely renewed; the flowers are more vibrant, the plants are more lush, and even the mushrooms in the corners are growing in clusters.

Are you sure you remember that place?

"Of course I remember. Although it was a bit dark then, I can remember every corner that cabbage fairy led me to..."

A white-haired child walked ahead, wobbling and chattering incessantly behind a little fox. A dark green fox followed diligently behind. The two children walking together resembled elementary school students on a picnic.

"Look! This is the place. Just go through this rock and you'll see that place!"

"Wait, is the cabbage fairy the one you told me about the other day? But didn't you say it was a dream?" Tinari was confused when she heard this. "That idiot Seno," the little fox thought to herself, secretly disliking her good friend.

"Let's go, let's go!" Seno avoided Tinari's question, grabbed his friend's hand, and ran off. Passing through the strange stone gate, the sky gradually darkened. The little fox looked around at the plants with great curiosity; they were all beautiful, some even unlike anything he'd seen in books. Continuing on, sure enough, they came across a beautiful lake.

Fireflies danced around the lake, gathering in abundance and bathing the entire lake in a starlight-like glow. The breathtaking scenery left Tinali somewhat stunned, while Seno remained unfazed, having already seen this place once before. Neither of them noticed Lannaro hiding in the corner; if Seno had, he would surely have pointed at it and called it a cabbage sprite.

The two approached the lake quietly, the surrounding grass shimmering with fluorescent light as they moved. Tinari gently touched the fireflies swirling around her; the tiny creatures were beautiful and radiant. Having never seen strangers before, they weren't afraid, even nuzzling closer. Seno also stepped forward and released the firefly he had placed in the bottle. Surrounded by its companions, it became even more beautiful.

Tinari looked excitedly at the firefly resting in his palm and then at Seno. "Look! It's landed on my hand!" Seno looked at Tinari's palm and then said innocently, "Tinari, a star has landed in your palm!"

“Thank you for bringing me here, Seno!” Tinari looked at Seno, her emerald eyes sparkling in the fireflies, which filled Seno with joy. He thought, Tinari’s eyes are even more beautiful than his mother’s green gems. I love Tinari the most, we will be together forever.

Tinari excitedly ran to the lakeside, where the fireflies gathered in the largest numbers. The beautiful little fox swayed gently with the fireflies, his erect ears bobbing and his soft, fluffy tail swishing in a graceful arc. The twinkling lights made him sparkle. Seemingly noticing Seno lost in thought, Tinari ran over and took his hand.

Seno felt he would never forget this scene: a fluffy little fox running happily across the grass, surrounded by fireflies. The beautiful little fox ran towards him, and Seno thought: My star has flown into my arms too.

On that beautiful summer night, they embraced each other's stars.
