Chapter 26 (Knowing the Subtle) The traveler was somewhat confused, then he understood (Part 2)

After a brief exchange, the traveler pulled out a variety of spices from his magical backpack. Seeing Kavi's puzzled expression, the traveler explained that Tinari had asked him to bring them. Elhesen understood immediately, but Kavi remained somewhat confused.

"The incense I brought this time was bought from Tinari. I guess they were worried we wouldn't have enough, so they had the travelers bring some over."

After finishing his work, Elhesen came over. He took the spices and prepared to put them away carefully. Seeing Elhesen's actions, Kavi also consciously followed suit. Elhesen sorted the spices into categories, and Kavi assisted him.

After tidying up, Kavi whispered, "Tinari is really thoughtful. I don't know how he knew I was in the forest. Looks like I'll have to treat him to a big meal next time." Paimon and Mehrak didn't notice, but the traveler, with his amazing hearing, heard it. He was about to explain when he heard Elhesen's words.

"Do you think you've stayed in the forest for so many days without getting bitten by mosquitoes because of your strong willpower or your stupid brain that refuses to listen to advice?" Elhesen chuckled, arms crossed, waiting for Kavi to start his commotion.

Sure enough, Kavi got angry when he heard this, like a cat whose fur had been ruffled after being ravaged, baring his not-yet-sharp teeth, trying to bite the bastard who made him furious.

"Of course my willpower is strong... no, I'm very smart. I'm a genius architect. Countless people beg me to design their blueprints, do you know that?!"

……

The traveler watched helplessly as the two started arguing again—or rather, it was a one-sided argument between Kavi and Elhesen. In the traveler's view, Kavi could quickly find the problem in any expression or word Elhesen uttered and then launch into a long, drawn-out argument.

Elheisen seemed quite used to it, even appearing somewhat spoiled in the traveler's eyes. How terrifying, the word "spoiled" had actually appeared in Elheisen's description. Shaking himself, the traveler realized that Kavi was unaware of this.

It's strange, but whenever travelers see two people arguing, they always have a strange, indescribable feeling. It's like they've seen it somewhere before, but they can't quite put their finger on it.

“Last time before I went to sleep, you said there was a strange smell in the room. That’s from these incense sticks,” Elhesen said to Kavi, seemingly having had enough of Kavi’s nagging. He even pressed one hand down on Kavi’s head, stroking his fur like he was petting a cat, before looking at the somewhat embarrassed Kavi.

Upon hearing this, Kavi naturally stopped arguing. Perhaps feeling somewhat ashamed that he had gone off-topic in his argument, he muttered, "So it was you who did it."

Watching Elheisen try to appease her, the Traveler finally understood. This dynamic was so similar to a couple she'd seen in Liyue! That husband always liked to deliberately provoke his wife, and once she almost couldn't win him back. She had to ask him to gather a lot of Cleansing Essence from the mountains, plus he prepared many other small gifts to finally appease her.

The traveler, having finally had his fill of watching, grabbed Paimon, looked at the two who had "made up," smiled at them, and then said goodbye and left. Halfway there, Paimon realized, "Weren't we here to see Alheisen take care of Kavi? Why are we leaving?"

The traveler smiled knowingly and didn't respond, instead saying, "Haven't you had a proper rest in a long time? Let me take you to eat something delicious." Sure enough, Paimon's attention was diverted by this, and he walked even more eagerly than the traveler.

"I shouldn't disturb this young couple's romance; it'll just make me feel like I'm eating dog food (a Chinese slang term for witnessing public displays of affection)." With that thought, Ying led Paimon away from the forest.

The traveler encountered Elhesen again in a shop selling ceramic cups.

Hu Tao offered the traveler a generous reward, hoping she would purchase a tea set from Sumeru. This was a gift Hu Tao intended to give to Mr. Zhongli, as he had worked diligently for a long time, and as the head of the hall, she was naturally the most considerate of her employees!

Unfortunately, Zhongli had already seen many of Liyue's unique tea sets, making it difficult for them to surprise him anymore. He was initially a bit troubled, but seeing the Traveler gave him an idea.

Busy traveling around, the traveler later visited places like Fontainebleau. Looking at the somewhat unfamiliar streets of Sumeru, the traveler couldn't help but feel a sense of novelty. So, with the large sum of money provided by Walnut, the traveler entered a famous teaware shop in Sumeru City. By sheer coincidence, he encountered Elhesen.

Noticing the traveler and Paimon, Elheisen took the initiative to greet them this time. "Long time no see, how have you been?" His tone was surprisingly gentle.

Paimon felt a chill run down his spine, hugging himself as if he were dreaming. "This dream is terrifying! Elheisen actually talking like that, it's so scary, so terrifying..."

Ying felt a little confused, and her voice trembled slightly: "Are you... are you alright?"

The shop owner next door chuckled upon seeing their different reactions. "Speaking of which," he remarked, "ever since the clerk and that architect got together, his personality has become much gentler." Paimon, upon hearing this, was shocked: "You two are together?!"

The traveler wasn't too surprised; judging from how they interacted, he knew their relationship was definitely not simple. And it turned out he was right!

Elhesen didn't react much after hearing this, his calm and composed demeanor exactly the same as before. He took the things the shopkeeper had packed, saying, "You seem quite surprised."

Having gathered his belongings, Elhesen prepared to leave, but before he could utter a word of farewell, the Traveler and Paimon exchanged a glance, their unspoken understanding unspoken. They spoke in unison, "It's been a long time since we've seen Kavi. May we pay him a visit?"

Clearly, the two little ones, with their boundless curiosity, were impossible to shake off.

With two little tails trailing behind him, Elhesen walked home. As soon as he opened the door, a stunning blonde beauty walked over and gave Elhesen a sticky kiss, as was her habit. Then, seeing the Traveler and Paimon standing behind him, her face suddenly turned bright red.

As expected of travel companions who have been together for a long time, Paimon and Ying had the same expression. It was a slightly smug look that wasn't off-putting, and you could almost see "Wow (?◇?)" in their eyes.

Seeing the shy Kavi, Elheisen handed him the item in his hand. "This is the ceramic cup you mentioned yesterday. See where you want to put it." Hearing this, Kavi was no longer shy. Although he still felt a little uncomfortable, he happily opened the packaging and touched the contents.

"This is it!" she exclaimed, clutching the precious seashell like a little otter reluctant to let go.

Kavi, pleased, acted as if nothing had happened and naturally entertained the two. Then he went to get some things, though a few voices could be heard from time to time.

"Elheisen, where's the fruit plate?"

"Where's the tea you brought back before?"

……

Elhesen, however, patiently responded to Kavi's questions one by one:

"In the cabinet in the bottom left corner."

"Be careful not to bump your head..."

Ying looked up at her surroundings. Compared to her last visit, it was clear that things had changed a lot. Many decorative items of various sizes were arranged in an orderly fashion, obviously arranged by Kavi. The warm and bright living room made the home feel very cozy. Their lives had naturally intertwined, blending and converging to create this kind of life.

Seeing how dependent Kavi was on Elhesen, the usually taciturn but surprisingly eloquent traveler remained composed and said, "Kavi seems to be spoiled. Do you have any clues, Elhesen?"

Elhesen paused as he was about to go to Kavi's side, a faint smile playing on his lips. "Isn't it good that he only stays by my side?" He then headed towards the kitchen, intending to follow Kavi and save him the trouble of searching for him.

After resting for a while, the traveler bid farewell to Paimon and the two others. After all, she hadn't yet completed Walnut's request. She would have to search carefully to find suitable teaware.

On the way to the shop, Paimon and Ying exclaimed in amazement, "We've only been away from Sumeru for a few months, but they've changed so much. Love really can change people, it's amazing!" Paimon nodded and summarized in a deliberately mature tone. Ying chuckled slightly but didn't say anything more.

Someone had been laying the groundwork for a long time, subtly and silently influencing him like a master hunter. Those obvious, fleeting moments of love couldn't capture someone like Kavi. While not entirely familiar with Kavi, Ying could see some flaws in his character. Only this light, intimate, silent, spiderweb-like affection could make Kavi unable to resist.

Everything fits perfectly. When a child who is smiling on the outside but crying on the inside meets a calm and rational person, love will dispel the dark clouds in their heart like sunshine.
