Transmigrating to become Hua Qiangu
Chapter 73 Transformation and the Battle for Life and Death
The air around seemed to freeze, and the castle was filled with an old and decaying atmosphere. The torches on the walls flickered in the cold wind, and the light and shadow danced eerily on the ancient bricks, like countless pairs of eyes watching.
"Hua Qiangu! Hua Qiangu! Wake up!" Tang Bao spun around anxiously in the air, her voice trembling with tears, echoing in the eerie environment and adding to the panic.
You Ruo anxiously called out from the side, "Master, come back quickly! Don't get trapped by this strange book!" Her face was flushed with tension, and her eyes were fixed on the mysterious light that was trapping Hua Qiangu, filled with fear and worry.
Sha Qianmo frowned, staring at Hua Qiangu in the light, and shouted, "What the hell is this? How could this happen! We have to find a way to rescue Xiao Budian!" His clothes fluttered violently in the uneasy air, as if he too was anxious about Hua Qiangu's situation.
As Dongfang Yuqing carefully examined the book, he said, "This book is definitely strange. Perhaps we can only save the bones by finding a way to decipher it." Fine beads of sweat glistened on his forehead in the flickering light, and his eyes revealed tension and focus. His fingers gently touched the book, as if trying to find clues from its ancient patterns.
Bai Zihua's expression was solemn. He stroked his sword and said in a deep voice, "Don't rush. Let's see if there are any clues." His gaze was as sharp as a hawk's, scanning everything around him, not letting go of any trace. However, all around him was endless darkness and an unsettling silence, with only the tense breathing of the crowd rising and falling.
Ni Mantian stood to the side, a hint of worry flashing in her eyes: "Hua Qiangu can't be hurt, we still have to go on together!" Her hand gripped the weapon tightly, her knuckles turning white from the force, and her lips trembled slightly, revealing her inner unease.
Shuofeng nodded: "Yes, let's find a solution together." His voice was steady, but his slightly trembling shoulders betrayed his tension. In this oppressive environment, everyone felt immense pressure.
Just then, Hua Qiangu, enveloped in light, seemed to hear her companions' cries. She tried to calm herself and looked at the strange scene around her. In the scene, a blurry figure was casting a peculiar spell. The surrounding environment resembled a chaotic void, with purple lightning flashing intermittently in the darkness, crackling and making Hua Qiangu's eardrums ache. Each bolt of lightning briefly illuminated that void, revealing jagged rocks that looked like the fangs of a demon. Hua Qiangu thought, "Could this be a clue?"
Suddenly, the figure in the scene seemed to sense Hua Qiangu's presence and slowly walked towards her, becoming clearer and clearer. It turned out to be an elderly man with white hair. He looked at Hua Qiangu with deep eyes and said, "Fated one, your arrival here is the arrangement of destiny. This world in the book holds the power you seek, but it also holds danger. Do you dare to accept the challenge?" His voice echoed in the empty void, carrying an undeniable majesty. Every word struck Hua Qiangu's heart like a heavy hammer.
Hua Qiangu's eyes were firm: "I'm not afraid! For my friends, for the sake of moving forward, I accept!" Her voice trembled, but the determination in her eyes did not waver in the slightest. The surrounding void seemed to sense her courage, and lightning flashed even more frequently.
The old man smiled slightly: "Alright! Let's begin then." As he spoke, the surrounding scenery began to change drastically, transforming into attacks that hurtled towards Hua Qiangu. The attacks were accompanied by howling winds, which scraped across Hua Qiangu's cheeks like blades, causing a stinging pain. The winds also carried black sand, which felt like being hit by pebbles.
Hua Qiangu used magic to defend herself, shouting, "Come on! I will not be defeated so easily!" Her hair flew wildly in the wind, her clothes fluttered, and her figure appeared so small under the attack of the wind and sand, yet she was incredibly resilient.
While everyone outside was anxiously searching for a solution, Tangbao suddenly shouted, "Look, the light seems to be changing!" Its voice sounded particularly sharp in the tense atmosphere.
As everyone looked, they saw the light flickering, seemingly related to Hua Qiangu's experiences in the book. As the light flashed, the surrounding shadows appeared to dance, like a swarm of ghosts waiting for their prey to fall.
Sha Qianmo shouted, "Little one, you must hold on!" His shouts echoed in the castle, filled with endless worry, and the anxiety in his eyes was almost tangible.
Ni Mantian also shouted, "Hua Qiangu, if you can't get out, I won't let you off the hook! We still need to get to a safe place together!" A hint of panic flashed in her eyes, she bit her lower lip tightly, and her hands unconsciously clenched and unclenched.
Hua Qiangu fought valiantly against the attacks within the book's world, her clothes soaked with sweat, but she did not flinch. Gradually, she discovered that these attacks seemed to follow a certain pattern, like an ancient formation. The surrounding environment grew increasingly harsh, the intensity of the attacks constantly increasing, and cracks began to appear in the ground beneath her feet, with dark red magma surging within them, emitting a pungent sulfurous smell. The intense heat made it difficult for Hua Qiangu to breathe.
"So that's how it is! I understand!" Hua Qiangu exclaimed excitedly, then countered the attack using the method for breaking the formation. As the last attack was neutralized, the surrounding scenery gradually disappeared, and the ancient book stopped glowing. The surrounding darkness and dangerous aura receded like a tide, leaving only the exhaustion of everyone after the tension.
Hua Qiangu emerged from the light, looking somewhat tired, but her eyes were bright.
Tangbao immediately pounced over: "Mommy, I'm so glad you're alright! I was so worried!" It hugged Hua Qiangu's neck tightly, its little body trembling, clearly terrified.
You Ruo rushed over and hugged Hua Qiangu: "Master, I knew you could do it!" Her eyes were filled with tears, but her face was filled with the joy of surviving a disaster.
Sha Qianmo laughed and said, "Haha, little one, I knew you wouldn't be trapped so easily!" He stepped forward, gently patted Hua Qiangu's shoulder, and his eyes were full of satisfaction.
Ni Mantian stepped forward and snorted, "Hmph, you're something else, you really worried us!" But she couldn't hide the smile in her eyes, and the corners of her mouth turned up slightly as she breathed a sigh of relief.
Hua Qiangu looked at everyone and said with emotion, "Thank you all. If it weren't for your encouragement, I probably wouldn't have had the courage."
Bai Zihua stepped forward, his eyes filled with satisfaction: "Hua Qiangu, you did very well. You remained so calm in the face of adversity. I am very pleased with you." He nodded slightly, a rare smile appearing on his face.
The group continued their exploration of the castle. The uneven stone paths beneath their feet exuded a chilling aura, as if telling the story of the castle's long and tumultuous history. The moss on the walls took on an eerie dark green hue in the dim light, and water droplets occasionally dripped from the ceiling, making a soft, rhythmic sound in the silence, like the tolling of a countdown clock, unsettling the group.
They hadn't gone far when they heard a muffled rumble, as if something enormous was crashing into the castle walls. Each impact shook the ground slightly, and dust fell from the walls and ceiling, forming a hazy, gray smoke in the torchlight that blurred their vision.
"What's going on now? Why is this castle so dangerous!" Dongfang Yuqing said with a frown. He covered his mouth and nose with his sleeve to prevent inhaling dust, his eyes full of helplessness and vigilance.
"Whatever it is, let's go see!" Shuofeng gripped his weapon tightly, leaning forward slightly, ready for battle, his eyes fixed firmly on the direction from which the sound came, even though that direction was shrouded in dust and darkness.
The group entered a large hall, thick with an even denser layer of dust that made it almost impossible to breathe. Through the dust, a massive crack could be seen in one of the hall's walls, resembling the gaping maw of a colossal beast, from which dust poured continuously. Emerging from the crack were a group of enormous stone golems, their bodies heavy and clumsy, each step accompanied by a dull thud that seemed to tremble the earth. The golems were covered in mysterious runes, which shimmered with a dark red light in the darkness, giving them an aura of malevolence and power. Their eyes were empty sockets, yet they seemed to see through everything, radiating a chilling aura.
"These guys don't look easy to deal with!" You Ru swallowed, her voice a little hoarse. Her small hands gripped her weapon tightly, her eyes wide as she stared at the approaching stone golems.
"Everyone be careful, let's attack together!" Hua Qiangu shouted, her voice echoing in the hall. Although her voice was firm, it couldn't hide her nervousness.
The group immediately engaged the stone golems in battle, but these golems possessed extremely strong defenses, rendering their attacks largely ineffective. Weapons striking the golems only produced a series of sparks, which briefly illuminated the surroundings in the dim light, further highlighting the golems' indestructibility. The golems swung their massive arms, creating a whistling sound; each attack contained immense power, and a hit would have unimaginable consequences.
Ni Mantian brandished her weapon, shouting as she fought, "These rocks are too hard! No matter how I hit them, it's no use!" Her face was covered in sweat and dust, making her look somewhat disheveled, but the fighting spirit in her eyes still burned brightly.
Sha Qianmo cast a powerful spell, but it only made the puppet pause slightly. He shouted, "This won't work, we have to find their weakness!" His brows furrowed, a hint of anxiety flashed in his eyes, and his hands kept changing hand seals, trying to find a way to break through the puppet's defense.
While dodging the puppet's attacks, Hua Qiangu observed its movements and suddenly noticed strange runes flashing at the puppet's joints. Dust swirled around them from the battle, dimming the light, but the runes acted like beacons in the darkness, drawing Hua Qiangu's gaze. The runes' light flickered, like a pulsating heartbeat, exuding a mysterious aura.
"Attack their joints! There are runes there, possibly the key!" Hua Qiangu shouted, her voice piercing through the noise and commotion of the battle, clearly reaching everyone's ears.
Upon hearing this, everyone attacked the puppet's joints, and sure enough, the puppet's movements began to slow down. Each attack on the puppet's joints produced a piercing creaking sound, as if the puppet were groaning in pain, and the dark red runes flickered erratically.
"It works! Everyone, continue!" Dongfang Yuqing shouted, a hint of excitement flashing in his eyes, and his attacks became even more ferocious.
After a fierce battle, the group finally defeated all the stone golems. The sound of the golems crashing to the ground echoed in the hall, raising a huge cloud of dust. Everyone was panting heavily, some sitting on the ground, others leaning against the wall, their faces etched with exhaustion.
"How many dangers are still in this castle!" Tangbao complained, landing on Hua Qiangu's shoulder, its little body bobbing up and down, clearly exhausted.
"No matter how many there are, we will get through them," Hua Qiangu said firmly, wiping the sweat and dust from her face, her eyes revealing an indomitable will.
After a short rest, the group continued onward. The path beneath their feet grew increasingly eerie, and the surrounding darkness seemed to come alive, relentlessly pressing in on them. The torchlight appeared so faint in the darkness, illuminating only a small patch of ground, like a lone boat in a dark ocean.
They arrived at what appeared to be the center of a castle. There stood a massive circular platform, inscribed with intricate runes that shimmered with light of various colors—blue, purple, gold, and more—intertwining to form a mysterious radiance that enveloped the platform. The runes seemed alive, constantly flowing and shifting, as if telling ancient and enigmatic stories. The air around the platform seemed to be tinged with color by the light, creating a dreamlike atmosphere. Yet, no one dared to relax, for they knew that great danger often lurked beneath beautiful facades.
