HP: The Root of Everything - The Magician

Chapter 38 Implanting a New Magic Circuit

During the agonizing process of magical circuits altering her body, Teach Carl desperately tried to control himself and tighten his grip on Hermione's hands.

When the pain subsided, Hermione had already fainted due to difficulty breathing.

At this time, the Giant Strength Magic Circuit was about to finish modifying the body, and the pain subsided, allowing Teach's body to move again.

Teach immediately released Hermione, who had fainted from lack of oxygen, and quickly carried her to the heated bed. Finally, he laid Hermione flat and performed chest compressions to provide first aid.

Although Hermione would wake up naturally, Teach knew that prolonged oxygen deprivation could cause some damage to the brain, so he had to start CPR immediately to get oxygen flowing through Hermione's blood vessels throughout her body as quickly as possible.

After half a minute of pressing, Hermione woke up.

Upon waking, Teach Carr held Hermione in his arms for a long time without saying a word. No one knew what he felt when he was about to strangle Hermione in the agony of the transformation, just as no one could understand the unease, helplessness, and fear Hermione felt kneeling beside him, watching Teach suffer a fate worse than death.

After a moment of silent embrace, the two of them, one big and one small, Teach finally released Hermione and asked somewhat flusteredly, "Hermione, are you feeling unwell anywhere?"

"Does your brain hurt? Are you dizzy?"

"Can you see clearly? Is it blurry? Is your breathing smooth? Do you feel weak or limp?"

The questions Teach asked were all symptoms that would appear after the brain is damaged due to lack of oxygen, but thankfully, Hermione shook her head repeatedly in response to Teach's questions, indicating that she did not feel any discomfort.

If I had to say something... it's that my chest hurts a little.

The discomfort in her chest put Teach at ease; it was a result of the chest compressions he had performed during CPR. Teach didn't directly address Hermione's discomfort.

In Teach Carr's eyes, Hermione was just an underage little girl.

At this moment, his anxious concern for Hermione was simply the kind concern one would show to a disciple.

This is how the two of them feel now.

But Hermione, whose heart had been opened, didn't think that way. She was smiling sweetly and happily amidst Teach Carl's anxious concern. At her age, she didn't know what this happiness really meant, but that didn't stop her from being happy. It was that simple.

After repeated checks and confirmations, and by drawing a transmutation circle to investigate, Teach finally confirmed that Hermione was indeed unharmed, and then plopped down on the ground.

His attention returned to himself. His body was still trembling with pain. Although it was just the lingering pain from the near completion of the modification, it was still unbearable for Teach. But he had no choice but to endure the final stage of the modification in his body.

The Mighty Magic Circuit, after circulating through Teach Carl's body, settled in his heart and then split into two golden branches that spread towards Teach's arms.

However, because this 'Giant Strength Magic Circuit' was only one centimeter long, it stopped spreading when it reached his shoulder. Teach estimated that, like the 'Flash Magic Circuit' on his back, it would take 39 centimeters of the circuit to complete before it could form a complete golden circuit on his arm.

Hermione watched Teach sitting on the ground, enduring the pain with great effort, and dared not make a sound as she waited quietly on the heated bed.

Time ticked by, and as Teach Carl's forehead was covered in cold sweat, the hourglass ended.

When he felt his body lighten, Teach knew that the new magic circuit had completed its transformation of him. As a surge of power welled up in his body, Teach picked up a stone to test it. He clenched his fist tightly, and although he did not crush the stone, he left a five-finger mark on it.

Teach Carr was very satisfied with the result. This was only a one-centimeter-long 'Giant Strength Magic Circuit,' and he wondered what the power would be when the circuit was completed.

Teach Carr was very eager to get started.

Noticing Hermione's concerned gaze from the heated floor, Teach tossed her the stone with the five-finger mark he had pressed into it, then rummaged through his suitcase for a set of dry clothes and went outside the underground base to change.

When Teach came in after changing his clothes, he saw Hermione gripping the stone tightly, her little face turning red from the effort.

This playful behavior made Teach realize the endearing qualities of Hermione, a young girl. He usually viewed Hermione as a very intelligent disciple, placing certain expectations on her and thus overlooking the fact that Hermione, at only twelve or thirteen years old, also had a playful heart.

Teach stepped forward, tossed the stone aside from Hermione's hand, and said to her, "Since you're so interested in this stone, would you like to know how strong your teacher is right now?"

Hermione, of course, wanted to know.

So Teach stretched out his hands and lifted Hermione, who was 1.6 meters tall.

At Hug & Lift High School, Teach had to play with Hermione for a while, satisfying her natural instincts as a little girl.

After playing, Teach taught Hermione about magic circuits.

Hermione is a wizard and cannot have magic circuits implanted. This was something Teach used to hunt down the Auror wizards who had researched it. If magic circuits were forcibly implanted, it would cause a violent conflict between natural magic and life magic. At best, it would cause her blood and meridians to break and turn her into a living dead; at worst, it would cause her to explode and die.

But Teach devised a different approach: during Christmas, he would create a 'pseudo-magical circuit' by drawing lines of magical script on Hermione's entire arm.

The fundamental principle of this pseudo-magic circuit is to train Hermione's left arm into a special, independent organ, so that this self-contained 'organ' will not be conflicted by natural magic.

Hermione couldn't learn magic circuits, but Teach wanted her to know and understand them.

The level of magic depends on the amount of knowledge one possesses. Teach Carl did not want Hermione's wall of knowledge, built on the path of magic, to collapse because of the missing brick of a magic circuit.

Through Teach's instruction, Hermione learns that magical circuits are a form of extraordinary modification to the body of an ordinary person. The more circuits one has, the more modifications one can make. So, what level of power can a person reach through continuous modification?

In her mind, Hermione looked down the path of magic... and she saw 'God'.

After learning about magic circuits, Hermione Granger finally believed what her teacher, Teach Carr, had said in a public lecture at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry: 'Magic can create gods.'
