The Young Swordsman of Dalu
Chapter 3 I Have No Son Like You
Wen Fei fell into a deep sleep again, throwing the entire palace into chaos once more. The old princess was so anxious and angry that she nearly fainted. Upon hearing the news, Prince Wen was furious.
"This unfilial son, I've truly had enough of him! He's brought shame upon the entire palace. Once he recovers, I'll make sure this rebellious son leaves the palace. I wish I didn't have a son like him!"
As he spoke, Prince Wen stormed off to Wen Fei's courtyard, entered the room, and saw that the physician had just finished taking the old princess's pulse.
“Mother, your son is truly unfilial, having given birth to such a good-for-nothing, causing you to worry and fear.” Prince Wen said respectfully to the old princess.
"I'm fine. Quickly, let the doctor check on Fei'er. She just woke up, how come she's fallen asleep again?" the old princess said worriedly.
Upon hearing the sound, the doctor walked to Wenfei's bedside, reached out to feel Wenfei's pulse, and couldn't help but frown.
"Sir, what exactly is wrong with my grandson?" the old princess asked anxiously.
"Your Highness, Your Highness, the Fourth Young Master's pulse feels a bit strange," the doctor said, puzzled.
"What's so strange about it? Tell me," Prince Wen said calmly.
"The Fourth Young Master has been unconscious for three days. His body is weak, so his pulse should not be strong. However, his pulse is beating very strongly. Moreover, I really can't figure out what's wrong with the Fourth Young Master. I suggest that Your Highness find someone more skilled." The doctor said, packing his medical kit to leave.
"Doctor, please take a good look at my grandson," the old princess pleaded.
"Your Highness, my medical skills are no longer sufficient to treat the Fourth Prince," the doctor said helplessly.
“Mother, don’t force her. Let the doctor leave,” Prince Wen said.
The doctor left, and the old princess was heartbroken.
"How could this happen, my dear grandson! Please, please don't let anything happen to you! Otherwise, I will be so sorry for your deceased mother," the old princess said sorrowfully.
“Mother, don’t mention her,” Prince Wen said in surprise.
"I'm telling you, you can't treat this child like a thorn in your side just because of his mother's situation! He's still your own flesh and blood, how can you bear to ignore him? As the saying goes, 'It is the father's fault if he is not properly raised.' If you had just shown him a little care normally, he wouldn't be like this now." The old princess cried as she accused her son.
"Alright, Mother! I'm afraid of you, old man. I'll go to the palace and personally fetch the imperial physician, okay?" Prince Wen said helplessly.
"This doesn't seem like the behavior of a father." The old princess immediately stopped crying.
"Mother, please go back and rest. Your son will go to the palace to ask His Majesty to issue an imperial decree to have the imperial physician treat this rebellious son." Prince Wen sighed as he left Wen Fei's courtyard and had a carriage prepared before heading to the palace.
At this moment, Wenfei is meeting another Wenfei in his dream.
“Dude, you’re doing terribly in the Prince’s Mansion. I don’t want to replace you there. I’m going back to my own home. Although I’m not doing so well either, my reputation is much better than yours. I don’t gamble, I don’t gamble, I don’t visit prostitutes, I don’t steal, I don’t rob. I’m very clean. I was even named an outstanding student by my school,” Wenfei said.
"What is a 'Three Good Student'?" another Wenfei asked.
“Even if I told you, you wouldn’t understand. Let me put it this way: he’s a good kid who wants to improve himself, and in short, a good kid who doesn’t cause his parents any trouble,” Wenfei said proudly.
“So what? I’ve tried, and I’ve been excellent, but apart from my grandma, no one can see my excellence,” another Wenfei said dejectedly.
"Just because others can't see your excellence, you become degenerate? How can you face your grandma and your mother?" Wenfei said angrily. He felt the same way because he was the same way. No matter how excellent he was, his father ignored him, didn't visit him, and never praised him. However, he had his grandma. He was lucky that his grandma gave him the right guidance and didn't spoil him excessively.
“It’s no use. In this family, apart from Grandma and my second brother, no one really cares about me,” another Wenfei said sadly.
"Where is your mother?" Wenfei asked.
“My mother died after giving birth to me. I never even saw what she looked like before she died,” another Wenfei said sadly.
"I'm sorry, I brought up something that hurt you," Wenfei said sympathetically.
“Aren’t you just like me? Let’s not look down on each other,” the other Wenfei joked.
“I’m very different from you. At least I haven’t degenerated into the same state as you. I still hold myself to very high standards and I’m still very ambitious,” Wen Fei said hurriedly.
"Do you think I wanted this? Only I know whether I did it or not. Without this reputation, who would know that there was a Fourth Master Wen in the Wenwang Mansion?" another Wen Fei said sadly.
"You can't just debase yourself like this and ruin your reputation just to get attention," Wenfei asked, puzzled.
"I'm exhausted. I miss my mother. I'm going to find her. You stay here. Whatever happens to you in the Prince's mansion is none of my business. I'm leaving. Take care of yourself." With that, the other Wenfei disappeared into the white mist.
“Don’t go! You can’t be so irresponsible! Come back! Come back!…” Wenfei shouted.
The imperial physician, Liang, was taking Wenfei's pulse. Wenfei was gesturing wildly, leaving the physician somewhat helpless. Prince Wen gave a signal, and Changsheng and several servants quickly stepped forward to hold down Wenfei's limbs.
After taking the pulse, the old imperial physician Liang stood up and said to Prince Wen, "The problem with the fourth prince is still in his head. Due to the fall from a height, his head suffered a strong impact, which caused some internal damage."
"Imperial Physician Liang, do as you see fit. My son's life is in your hands," Prince Wen said calmly.
"Your Highness overestimates me. It's actually quite simple; it's just acupuncture. But I'm no longer capable of this. I'm too old, and my hands aren't steady anymore. How about I have my granddaughter, Feiyan, personally administer the acupuncture to the Fourth Young Master?" the old imperial physician Liang said confidently.
"I'll do whatever Imperial Physician Liang says. Besides, my mother hasn't seen Feiyan in a long time. It'll be good for her to come. She'll be happy too. Wenjie has also just returned to the Prince's Mansion, so they can meet. I'll send someone to invite Feiyan right away," Prince Wen said happily.
"Your Highness, perhaps I should have my attendants and people from your household go and invite Feiyan over," said the old imperial physician, Liang.
"Oh dear! My brain just doesn't work when I'm in a hurry," Prince Wen said, slapping his head.
When Wenjie heard from Afu that Wenfei had woken up, he got up to go see Wenfei, but Afu stopped him.
"What's wrong with Afu? Didn't Wenfei wake up?" Wenjie asked, puzzled.
"Second Master, you should be mentally prepared before you meet Fourth Master," Afu said.
“I’ll just go see him, what else do I need to prepare?” Wenjie said.
"Second Master, Fourth Master is acting strangely when he wakes up. He's not the same as before," Afu said.
"What's different?" Wenjie asked.
“It seems he hit his head and doesn’t remember anyone, including you, Second Master,” Afu said.
"That kid, he dared to forget about his second brother! I'll teach him a lesson. Never mind him, I'll go see him first." Wenjie said, waving his fist, and then ran off to Wenfei's yard.
