The Young Swordsman of Dalu

Chapter 26 We unexpectedly met in this northern frontier

Shangguan Chenxing struggled to lift his head, looking at the person sobbing beside the bed, "Are you Yun'er? Are you really my Yun'er?"

"Father, it's me, Yun'er. I'm late, and I've made you suffer," Shangguan Xingyun said, crying.

"Let me take a good look." Shangguan Chenxing reached out and stroked Shangguan Xingyun's cheeks.

Liang Feiyan watched from the side, tears welling up in her eyes. She knew clearly that this was not the time to cry and wail; they were surrounded by danger.

"Miss Shangguan, we should think of a way to rescue your father now," Liang Feiyan said, stepping forward to persuade the still weeping Shangguan Xingyun.

"Are you the doctor they invited?" Shangguan Xingyun asked suspiciously.

“Miss Shangguan, please don’t worry. I’m a woman just like you. We originally came to the Northern Frontier for sightseeing. When we saw the notice they posted, we thought that since I’m also a medical student, I would come here to treat patients. We didn’t expect to be detained here,” Liang Feiyan said.

"It is I who have burdened you, young lady," Shangguan Chenxing said.

“Mr. Shangguan, there’s no need to blame yourself. It’s fate that we met here in the northern frontier,” Liang Feiyan said politely.

"May I ask your honorable name, young lady? I, Shangguan Xingyun, will certainly be grateful in the future," Shangguan Xingyun said, standing up.

"I am Liang Feiyan, from Yulu," Liang Feiyan said.

"You're from Kyoto. Do you know the Imperial Physician Liang?" Shangguan Chenxing asked.

“He was my grandfather,” Liang Feiyan said.

"I never imagined that after so many years away from Kyoto, I would still be able to see the descendants of my friends from Kyoto," Shangguan Chenxing said excitedly.

“Mr. Shangguan, they will be back with the medicine soon. Rainbow will prepare it for you. Take it and get your body in order to heal your injuries. Then we can work together to figure out a way to get out of here,” Liang Feiyan said.

"Father, I'll get you out of here right now," Shangguan Xingyun said.

“Child, don’t worry about me. Find a way to get your mother and your elder brother’s family out of here. They’re locked up in jail. Once you get them out, I won’t have any worries,” Shangguan Chenxing said.

"Miss Shangguan, you should find a place to hide now, so they don't find you and cause any more trouble," Liang Feiyan said.

“Yes, Father. Miss Liang, we’ll discuss our strategy when it’s nighttime and no one’s around. I’m going to hide now.” Shangguan Xingyun said as he left the room.

As evening fell, Wenjie stared intently at the gate of the city defense camp, but he didn't see the doctor come out. He was getting impatient and anxious.

"Sang Ziqi, you didn't miss anything, did you? Why aren't they coming out yet?" Wenjie said anxiously.

“My eyes hurt from staring so hard, I didn’t blink. I swear, they didn’t come out,” Sang Ziqi said.

"Does the city defense battalion have a back door?" Wenjie asked.

"Yes, only their internal staff are allowed to use the back door; outsiders can only use the front door," Sang Ziqi said.

"No, I can't wait any longer. I need to go into the city defense camp to scout things out after dark," Wenjie said.

“Alright, I’ll risk my life to accompany you,” Sang Ziqi said.

“You can’t come in with me; you stay outside and provide backup,” Wenjie said.

“There are many experts in the city defense camp; I can help you,” Sang Ziqi said.

“Sang Ziqi, I don’t want to involve you too much, you still have your Ayiguli,” Wenjie said.

“Alright, for Ayiguli’s sake, I’ll wait for you outside,” Sang Ziqi said.

In the backyard of the city defense camp, Rainbow brought the freshly brewed medicine to Shangguan Chenxing's room, with Liang Feiyan watching over him.

Shangguan Chenxing was very weak. He would wake up for a while and then fall into a deep sleep. When the medicine had cooled down enough, Liang Feiyan gently woke him up.

"Senior Shangguan, it's time to take your medicine."

Shangguan Chenxing slowly opened his eyes and saw Liang Feiyan standing in front of the bed with a bowl of medicine in her hand.

"I'm sorry to trouble Miss Liang."

"Take your medicine," Liang Feiyan said.

Liang Feiyan and Caihong gently lifted Shangguan Chenxing's head, elevating it slightly, and Liang Feiyan fed him the medicine spoonful by spoonful.

"Thank you, Miss Liang," Shangguan Chenxing said.

“This is what a junior should do,” Liang Feiyan said.

At this moment, the military officer outside the door entered, walked closer to the bed, glanced at Shangguan Chenxing, and said:

"Doctor, has he taken the medicine?"

"I just ate," Liang Feiyan said.

"You can take care of him for now. The city defense battalion is heavily guarded, so you'd better behave yourselves." After saying that, the military officer left.

"What a load of rubbish!" Rainbow cursed in disgust.

"Rainbow, keep your voice down, don't let him hear," Liang Feiyan said cautiously.

"Miss, they're really bullying us!" Rainbow said indignantly.

“This isn’t the place to complain. When Miss Shangguan comes over, we’ll have to figure out a way to get you out of here first,” Liang Feiyan said.

“I want to stay with Miss. I’m not leaving. If anyone’s leaving, it’s Miss who should go first,” Rainbow said.

"Can you keep this so that Senior Shangguan can treat his illness?" Liang Feiyan asked.

“No, Miss, if you don’t leave, I won’t leave either,” Rainbow said firmly.

As darkness fell and the third watch drum sounded, Shangguan Xingyun quietly emerged from a pile of broken metal in the storage room. She quickly walked towards the backyard, and just as she entered the courtyard, a dark figure landed behind her. She alertly bent down to draw her sword, but the figure covered her mouth and pulled her aside.

Shangguan Xingyun tried to resist, but the other party was too strong, and she had no room to maneuver.

"Who are you? Let me go!" Shangguan Xingyun shouted.

"You are Miss Shangguan, and I am Wenjie." Wenjie was overjoyed.

"You are Wenjie from Nanshan," Shangguan Xingyun asked excitedly.

Wenjie released Shangguan Xingyun's hand and said, "I'm sorry I hurt you."

"What are you doing here?" Shangguan Xingyun asked.

“Master Wuyi asked my master to send me to the Northern Frontier to find you. She hasn’t heard from you in a long time and she’s worried about you,” Wenjie said.

"Let's go inside and talk." Shangguan Xingyun gently pushed open the door.

"Miss Shangguan, you've finally arrived," Liang Feiyan said, standing guard by the bedside.

"Miss Liang, you've gone to so much trouble," Shangguan Xingyun said gratefully.

"Let's not be so polite," Liang Feiyan said.

"Miss Liang, how could it be you?" Wenjie couldn't believe his eyes.

"Young Master Wen, you've come too." Liang Feiyan didn't expect her dream to come true so quickly, but something about this place was a little off.

“During the day, the doctor who came in to take down the notice looked familiar, but I didn’t expect it to be you,” Wenjie said.

"Why is the Second Young Master here?" Liang Feiyan asked.

"I did this for... well, let's not talk about that now. Let me get you out of here first," Wenjie said, glancing at Shangguan Chenxing lying on the bed.

"I need to go to the prison to rescue my mother and my elder brother's family," Shangguan Xingyun said.

“I’ll go with you,” Wenjie said.

"You all go, I'll stay here and watch over Senior Shangguan." Liang Feiyan felt a little disappointed.

Wenjie glanced at Liang Feiyan and then left with Shangguan Xingyun.
