The Young Swordsman of Dalu

Chapter 144: Surrounded

After bidding farewell to Yuchi Liang, Wenfei and Li Wei turned around and embarked on their journey back to China.

Wenfei remained silent the entire way, and Li Wei knew he was feeling troubled.

"Wenfei, do you think your second brother and the others will go to the northern desert again?" Li Wei asked.

"Probably not!" Wen Fei said in a muffled voice.

"How did you know?" Li Wei asked.

“No matter which route Second Brother and the others take, they will know that the so-called attack on the Great Lu Kingdom in the Northern Desert is just a pretext from the Western Regions. So I think Second Brother is still in Northern Frontier City. Let’s go to Northern Frontier.” Wen Fei said, patting the horse’s rump, and the horse galloped away.

Li Wei shouted from behind, "Wait for me!"

"Neigh--!" With a long neigh from the horse, Wen Fei stopped. Li Wei, who had come up from behind, also immediately reined in his horse. A row of people and horses stood directly in front of them.

"Did you come on your own, or was it on the orders of Bulu Khan?" Wenfei asked.

"What's the difference?"

“If you came on your own, then your lives are mine! If Bulu Khan sent you, then I have too little respect for him, and your lives will still be mine,” Wen Fei said.

"Don't let them leave the Western Regions alive!"

"Li Wei is right behind me!" Wen Fei spurred his horse and galloped toward the group of people, with Li Wei following closely behind.

As Wen Fei charged into the crowd, he leaped into the air and unleashed his Thunderous Continuous Palm technique, knocking everyone off their horses. Li Wei swung his sword and kept stabbing at the Western Region soldiers. Wen Fei also drew his sword and used the Meteor Shower Sword Technique, slaughtering the Western Region soldiers until none were left alive.

"Li Wei, let's hurry up and go!" Wen Fei urged.

The two mounted their horses and galloped away.

“I think this is only a part of them. There are definitely bigger challenges ahead for us. Are you afraid?” Wen Fei looked at Li Wei from his horse.

"I'm not afraid with you by my side!" Li Wei said with a smile.

Wenfei was satisfied with the answer. He smiled at Li Wei and ran forward, with Li Wei following closely behind.

Sure enough, after galloping for less than fifty miles, another group of people was waiting for them ahead, each carrying a bow and arrow.

“Li Wei! It seems they’re going to keep us here!” Wen Fei said.

"Do you want to stay?" Li Wei asked with a smile.

"I don't want to stay!" Wenfei said.

“Let’s charge in!” Li Wei said.

"That's bold! Kill!" Wen Fei didn't waste any more words with them this time and rode his horse straight towards them.

"Fire arrows!"

A barrage of arrows rained down on Wen Fei and his men. Wen Fei drew his Meteor Shower Sword, deflecting the arrows to the side. He flew swiftly forward, and before the archers could even fire their second arrow, they fell victim to Wen Fei's Meteor Shower Sword.

Li Wei followed, and the two of them joined forces to kill all the remaining people. Then they mounted their horses and galloped away.

"Wenfei, do you think there will be someone waiting for us up ahead?" Li Wei asked, sounding like he was having some difficulty speaking.

Wen Fei sensed something was wrong and asked, "Li Wei, what's wrong? Were you shot by an arrow?" As he spoke, Wen Fei dismounted.

Li Wei endured the excruciating pain and dismounted from the horse. Wen Fei pulled her into his arms.

Li Wei was shot in the chest by an arrow, and to avoid distracting him, he immediately pulled the arrow out.

"Why don't you say anything?" Wenfei felt extremely distressed seeing Li Wei's pained expression.

"I'm fine!" Li Wei said.

"Still being stubborn! I'll treat your wounds!" Wenfei laid Li Wei down.

"No! The wound is on my chest, it's inconvenient for us!" Li Wei protested.

"What time is it? Why are you still worrying about these things? Besides, it's not like I haven't seen your place before," Wenfei blurted out.

"Damn it! I knew you'd see it." Li Wei's face was as red as a sheet of red cloth.

“You can do whatever you want with me now that you’re better. Let me treat your wounds first; there might be enemies waiting for us ahead,” Wenfei said.

Li Wei did not resist; she let Wen Fei tear open her chest.

Wenfei took out the wound medicine from his pocket. At first, he wanted to apply the medicine with his eyes closed, but when he tried, the medicine was applied off-center. Li Wei saw his comical appearance and felt both annoyed and amused. In the end, Wenfei could only keep his eyes wide open and quickly apply the medicine and bandage the wound in one go. After doing all this, Wenfei was panting heavily.

"I have a favor to ask!" Wenfei said.

"What is it?" Li Wei asked.

"When you're better, could you hit me a little lighter? You hit me too hard. Every time you hit me before, it hurt so much I grimaced," Wenfei said.

“You’re still being picky? Impossible! I’m going to put in even more effort than usual, otherwise I won’t be able to vent my anger!” Li Wei said.

“I am not your enemy!” Wen Fei said.

"Anyway, I'm going to give you a good beating!" Li Wei said.

“I give up! Let’s go!” Wenfei said.

Wenfei helped Li Weishi onto the horse. He and Li Weishi rode on one horse, while Wenfei held the reins of the other horse. He considerately let Li Weishi lean against him.

The two continued walking. At dusk, a strong wind swept across the grassland. In this late autumn moment, the wind on the grassland was already stinging one's face. Wenfei pulled Li Wei closer to his chest, and Li Wei obediently nestled against his chest. Wenfei's body immediately warmed up. To hide his embarrassment, he paused on the horse's reins. As if sensing its master's awkwardness, the horse leaped into the air and galloped forward.

Li Wei developed a high fever in Wen Fei's arms and remained unconscious.

"Li Wei, look! We've arrived at the border of the Northern Dynasty!" Wen Fei exclaimed excitedly.

Li Wei slowly opened her eyes in Wen Fei's arms, looked at him weakly, and said, "That's great!"

“Li Wei! Wake up! You can’t sleep anymore! Once we’re in the Northern Dynasty, I’ll find an inn to stay at first, and then I’ll find you a doctor,” Wen Fei said.

As the two of them walked forward, they encountered another group of people waiting for them at the border between the Western Regions and the Northern Dynasties.

Wen Fei looked at this group of people and noticed that they were different from the previous two groups. These people were not soldiers from the Western Regions; they were dressed as martial arts practitioners and looked like martial arts masters.

Wenfei calmly told Li Wei, "We've run into a tough opponent."

"They're never going to stop!" Li Wei said groggily.

"Stay in my arms for a while and don't move around. We have to get through this," Wenfei said.

"Don't worry about me then. We'll just make sure we get out as many as we can," Li Wei said.

“Nonsense! I will not hand you over to them!” Wenfei said.

Wenfei rode his horse up to the group of people, who all stared at him expressionlessly.

"May I ask which martial arts school you are from? It's a pleasure to meet you here today!" Wen Fei said.

"You're Wen Fei!" one of them asked.

“Yes, that’s me!” Wenfei replied.

"That's exactly what I've been waiting for!" The man's eyes lit up when he heard it was Wen Fei.

"Kill me? Not so easy!" Wen Fei said.

"Let's settle this once and for all! Kill!" At that command, everyone brandished their swords and charged towards Wenfei and his men in formation.

Looking at their formation, Wenfei thought to himself, "This is bad!"
