Beast Taming Star Journey
Chapter 412 A New Crisis Emerges, War Clouds Gather
Chapter 412
Darkness engulfed me. After a dizzying spin, I crashed to the ground, my ears ringing. I struggled to my feet and found myself in a strange space. It was pitch black, so dark you couldn't see your hand in front of your face, and the air was filled with a nauseating stench of decay.
"Su Yao! Thallium Warrior!" I shouted, my voice echoing in the darkness, but there was no response. Fear, like a cold snake, coiled tightly around my heart.
Suddenly, a faint green light flickered in the darkness, followed by more and more points of light, drifting like will-o'-the-wisps. They slowly approached, and I could then see clearly that they were a group of humanoid black ghosts, their bodies as ethereal as smoke, their faces grotesque, exuding a chilling aura.
I instinctively stepped back, alarm bells ringing in my head. What were these ghosts? What abilities did they possess? I had absolutely no idea.
A ghost floated in front of me, its claws, as thin as withered branches, reaching out to grab me. Instinctively, I threw a punch, but missed completely; my fist passed right through the ghost's body.
“It’s no use,” a voice suddenly rang out behind me. I whirled around to see the Thallium Warrior. He didn’t seem to be hurt, though his face was a little pale. “These ghosts are ethereal beings; ordinary physical attacks are ineffective against them.”
My heart sank; the situation was worse than I had imagined.
"What should we do then?" I asked anxiously.
The thallium warrior shook his head, indicating that he was also at a loss.
Just then, a ghost suddenly pounced on the thallium warrior. He dodged quickly, but was still scratched on the arm by the ghost's claws. A wisp of black smoke emerged from the wound and spread rapidly.
"Ah!" The thallium warrior let out a painful groan, his face turning even paler.
My heart tightened; I had to find a way to break through!
I took a deep breath, closed my eyes, concentrated, and began to communicate with my beast.
"Come out, my mate!"
A dazzling white light burst forth from my body, dispelling the surrounding darkness. Within the light, my tamed beast—a majestic giant tiger—appeared beside me.
I shared power with my beast, and a powerful energy surged into my body. I felt my strength greatly enhanced, and my body was filled with power.
I opened my eyes again, my eyes shining with confidence.
The ghosts seemed startled by the sudden light and retreated, not daring to approach easily.
"Roar!" My tamed beast let out a deafening roar, the sound waves spreading outwards like shockwaves, blasting away any approaching ghosts.
I clenched my fists, ready to fight.
Suddenly, a hand gently rested on my shoulder. I turned around and saw Su Yao. She had appeared behind me without me noticing, a hint of worry on her face.
"Yu..." she whispered, "Be careful..."
Su Yao stood behind me, her hands on my shoulders, her body pressed tightly against me. I could feel the warmth of her palms and her slight trembling. It wasn't fear, but concern, an unwavering trust in me. "Yu," she whispered, her voice trembling slightly, "I believe you can lead us to victory once again."
Her words were like a warm current flowing into my heart, dispelling the fear and unease within me. I clenched my fist, feeling the power surging within me. I was fighting not only for myself, but also for her, and for all those who trusted me.
"Roar!" My tamed beast roared again, intimidating the restless ghosts around it. I turned to look at Su Yao, giving her a resolute look. "Don't worry, I won't let anyone down."
Just then, the Mercury Messenger rushed over, his face pale and his forehead covered in sweat. "Gentlemen," he said breathlessly, "we...we received news that the weakness of the Dark Specters is..." He paused, as if organizing his thoughts, "...the power of light."
"The power of light?" The Beast Tamer frowned. "That's too vague. What exactly constitutes the power of light? Does that mean we all have to cultivate light-based techniques?"
"This..." The mercury envoy was momentarily speechless. The message he brought was indeed unclear, even somewhat absurd. "This is the conclusion reached by the platinum strategists after communicating with their wise men..."
"Absurd!" A burly beast tamer stepped forward, his tone filled with dissatisfaction. "How many men have we lost fighting these ghosts! And now you're telling us that the power of light alone can solve the problem? This is utter child's play!"
“Exactly! Why should we believe you?” another beast tamer chimed in.
The crowd began to stir, and discontent gradually spread. The already fragile alliance now showed signs of splitting.
"Silence!" I shouted, my powerful aura instantly silencing everyone. I looked around at them and said in a deep voice, "I know you're all anxious, but now is not the time for infighting! Whether this news is true or false, we must unite and face the enemy before us together!"
My gaze fell on the Mercury Envoy. "Where is the Platinum Strategist? Let him come out and explain!"
The mercury envoy wiped the sweat from his brow and said, "The platinum strategists are discussing more specific countermeasures with their wise men. Please remain calm."
I took a deep breath, struggling to suppress the anger within me. The situation was more complicated than I had imagined. Not only did I have to face the powerful Dark Specter, but I also had to deal with internal conflicts.
Just then, a clear voice broke the silence. "Look!" It was the gold-plated boy, pointing to a corner in the distance, his voice filled with surprise. "Those ghosts... seem terrified of that light!"
I looked in the direction he was pointing and saw a faint golden light emanating from a dark corner... What was that?
I squinted, trying to make out what the golden light was. It was very faint, like a candle flame flickering in the wind, as if it could be extinguished at any moment. But even so, the surrounding dark phantoms seemed to have encountered their natural enemy, all avoiding me and not daring to approach.
"Let's go take a look!" I shouted in a low voice, taking the lead towards the direction of the golden light. Su Yao followed closely behind, and the Beast Tamer of the Metal Iridium hesitated for a moment before following as well. Seeing this, the others also moved closer in that direction.
As we drew closer, the golden light gradually became clearer. It was a stone, a stone radiating a soft golden light. It lay quietly in the corner, inconspicuous, yet exuding a strange power.
"What...what kind of stone is this?" The gold-plated boy cautiously reached out, wanting to touch the stone.
"Don't move!" I quickly stopped him. "Be careful, it might be a trap."
I examined the stone closely. Its surface was smooth, without any patterns, but inside, a golden liquid seemed to flow, shimmering like it was breathing. This golden light, though faint, carried a sacred aura that gave me a strange sense of peace.
"This... could this be the power of light?" the Mercury Messenger murmured to himself, his eyes gleaming with hope.
I crouched down, reached out, and gently touched the stone. A warm power instantly spread throughout my body, dispelling the fatigue and anxiety of the past few days. A thought struck me: could this stone truly possess the power to subdue the dark spirits?
"Roar!" My tamed beast also sensed this power, letting out a low growl, its eyes filled with excitement. It cautiously approached the stone and licked it with its tongue.
The miracle happened!
The moment it touched the stone, a dazzling golden light burst forth, illuminating the entire corner. The surrounding dark phantoms let out shrill screams, melting away like ice and snow meeting the blazing sun, turning into wisps of black smoke and disappearing into the air.
"It works!" I stood up excitedly. "This stone really works!"
Upon seeing this, everyone cheered. The appearance of this stone undoubtedly brought us great hope.
"Great! We are saved!"
"This stone...this stone is simply a divine object!"
"With it, we can completely eliminate these ghosts!"
A lively discussion broke out among the crowd.
I took a deep breath, trying to calm myself down. Although this stone could suppress the dark ghosts, there was only one, and its light was limited, far from enough to eliminate all the ghosts.
“Don’t get too excited yet,” I said in a deep voice. “Although this stone is effective, there is only one, and its power is limited. We must find a way to replicate or amplify its power.”
“That’s right,” the Beastmaster of the Iridium also calmed down, “We need more of these stones, or to find a way to enhance their brilliance.”
I looked at the Mercury Envoy, "Where is the Platinum Strategist? Let him come and take a look at this stone; perhaps he knows something."
The mercury envoy nodded quickly and turned to leave.
I looked at the stone in my hand, my mind filled with questions. What exactly is this stone? Where did it come from? And why does it possess such magical power?
Just then, Su Yao suddenly grabbed my arm and said in a serious tone, "Yu, look..."
I followed her gaze and saw a black rift appear in the distant sky... From the rift, even more dark phantoms poured out, more powerful and ferocious than before...
"Damn it!" I cursed under my breath, gripping the stone tightly in my hand.
The beast tamer, Jin Yi, was pale-faced. "What... what's going on? How can there be so many ghosts?"
Suddenly, a voice came from behind us, "This stone, we call it the 'Heart of Light'..."
