Beast Taming Star Journey
Chapter 402 The Counterattack: Breaking the Impasse
Chapter 402
That black pillar of light was like a bridge connecting heaven and earth, continuously transmitting some kind of power. I felt the air become thick and viscous, and breathing became difficult. The oppressive feeling grew stronger and stronger, almost crushing me.
"What is that?" I turned my head with difficulty to look at the Platinum Strategist. His face was ashen, his lips trembled, but he could not speak.
"Oh no! The Dark Altar has been activated!" the Beastmaster Yi cried out in alarm, his voice filled with fear. "They've actually completed the construction of the Dark Altar!"
A dark altar? My heart sank. What terrifying thing is this? Have all our previous efforts been in vain?
Just then, I felt the beast-taming power within me begin to surge, an unprecedented force coursing through my entire body. I seemed to hear an ancient and mysterious voice calling to me.
“Yes…it’s time…” I murmured to myself, a strange impulse rising within me.
I closed my eyes, concentrated, and felt the powerful force within me. I stretched out my hand, palm up, and silently recited the ancient incantation of the contract.
A golden light burst forth from my palm, shooting straight into the sky. I felt an unprecedented connection forming between myself and my tamed beast, the crimson lion that had been with me for many years. We were no longer master and servant, but equal partners, sharing each other's power.
The Crimson Lion let out a deafening roar, its size instantly expanding as it was engulfed in raging flames, like a divine beast reborn from the ashes. Its eyes gleamed with golden light, brimming with power and majesty.
"Break through the darkness!" I shouted, pointing to the black pillar of light.
The Crimson Lion roared, transforming into a streak of red lightning as it charged towards the pillar of dark light. The ghostly faces along its path were torn apart like paper before it.
boom!
With a deafening roar, the Crimson Lion collided with the Dark Pillar of Light. Golden flames and black light intertwined, creating a spectacular sight.
I felt a powerful shockwave hit me, knocking me back several steps. I steadied myself and nervously watched the battlefield.
The golden light gradually gained the upper hand, and the dark pillar of light began to dim and eventually disappeared completely.
The Crimson Lion let out a triumphant roar, standing proudly on the battlefield like an invincible general.
The situation on the battlefield reversed instantly. The soldiers of the dark forces lost the support of the dark altar, their morale plummeted, and they fled in disarray.
The Beastmaster, witnessing this scene, was filled with shock and admiration. He walked up to me and bowed deeply, saying, "Thank you so much for your help. You are truly our benefactor!"
I waved my hand, indicating that he didn't need to be so polite.
Just then, I felt a pair of soft arms wrap around my waist. I turned my head and saw Su Yao.
She looked at me, her eyes filled with...
...She was filled with adoration and love. She pressed close to me, her warm breath brushing against my ear, sending a shiver down my spine. "You're amazing," she whispered, her voice trembling slightly, "You've captured my heart." Her hair brushed against my cheek, tickling me and stirring my heartstrings. I took her hand, our fingers intertwined, feeling the warmth of her palm. At that moment, the clamor of the battlefield seemed to vanish, leaving only the two of us.
The joy of victory spread through the crowd, cheers rising and falling. The Beastmaster Yi approached me, excitedly saying something, but I was somewhat distracted. Su Yao's words still echoed in my ears; her gaze, her warmth, all made it impossible for me to concentrate.
“Nong Yu,” the Beastmaster Yi suddenly raised his voice, “I think we should press our advantage and completely annihilate the remaining forces of the Dark Forces!” His tone carried an unquestionable command.
I snapped out of my reverie and frowned. "No," I said, "now is not the time. Although we have won this battle, the main force of the dark forces still exists. A hasty pursuit could easily lead us into an ambush." My strategy was to consolidate our gains, regroup our troops, and then devise a plan for the future.
“But…” Yi’s Beast Tamer wanted to say something, but I interrupted him.
“Beastmaster Iridium, I know you yearn to achieve great things, but please trust my judgment. The most important thing now is to preserve your strength and wait for the right opportunity.” My tone was firm and decisive, leaving no room for argument.
The Beastmaster's expression changed, seemingly somewhat unconvinced, but he ultimately nodded. "Alright, I'll listen to you." After saying that, he turned and left, his back view appearing somewhat lonely.
I watched his retreating figure and sighed inwardly. I knew he was an excellent beast tamer, but he was impulsive and prone to acting on emotion. I had to constantly remind him to stay calm to avoid unnecessary losses.
Just then, I noticed the direction of the leader of the dark forces. He stood on the high platform, not fleeing like the other defeated soldiers, but instead revealing a strange smile. He slowly raised his hands, muttering incantations, as if performing some kind of ritual.
A sense of foreboding washed over me. Did he have some other trick up his sleeve? My heart tightened, and I immediately became more alert, watching his every move closely. His movements grew faster and faster, the surrounding air began to distort, and a powerful dark energy emanated from him.
Suddenly, he stopped moving and roared to the sky. "Come forth, my ultimate weapon!" His voice was filled with madness and triumph.
The earth began to tremble, and a massive crack appeared in the ground. From the crack, a gigantic black shadow slowly rose… The leader of the dark forces stared at the enormous shadow, a sinister smile spreading across his face. “Now, the game has only just begun!”
