Beast Taming Star Journey
Chapter 28 Camp Attacked, Beast Taming for Protection
More and more scarlet eyes appeared, flickering like will-o'-the-wisps in the darkness, sending chills down our spines. The low roars grew more frequent and closer, as if a thousand horses were charging towards us.
"Warcraft!"
Professor Sun gasped, his face turning deathly pale. His voice trembled, filled with barely concealed fear. My heart sank.
The Monster Mountain Range is teeming with magical beasts, but they don't usually attack human camps unprovoked. Unless... unless some powerful magical beast is driving them!
"Everyone, be careful!"
I shouted a warning and released my beast companion, Little Gold. Little Gold is a golden cheetah, extremely fast and with formidable attack power.
Su Yao also summoned her tamed beast—a phoenix engulfed in flames.
The phoenix let out a clear cry, circling above us and watching the surrounding movements warily.
Other students also released their own beasts, and soon all sorts of beasts appeared in the camp, making all sorts of noises, turning the originally quiet night into a noisy one.
"Hmph, they're just low-level magical beasts, what's there to be afraid of?"
Chen curled his lip in disdain. His tamed beast was a huge wild boar that looked majestic, but was actually quite clumsy.
I gave him a cold glance, ignoring his provocation. Now is not the time for infighting; we must unite to fight against the approaching horde of monsters.
"Don't be careless, Chen,"
Professor Sun said seriously, "There are a lot of magical beasts this time, and there may be high-level magical beasts among them."
Chen smiled dismissively: "Professor Sun, you're being too timid. Even if there are high-level magical beasts, with so many of us, are you afraid we can't handle them?"
Before he could finish speaking, a deafening roar came from afar.
Immediately afterwards, a large horde of monsters surged out of the darkness, rushing towards our camp like a tidal wave.
A chill ran down my spine; it seemed this monster attack was more serious than I had imagined.
"Ready to fight!"
I yelled and charged into the horde of monsters. Little Gold followed closely behind, letting out a sharp roar as it pounced on the first few monsters.
Su Yao's phoenix also swooped down, spewing out streams of flames that burned several magical beasts to ashes.
Other students also joined the battle, and soon shouts of battle and roars of beasts filled the night sky.
Although Chen's wild boar was huge, it was slow-moving and quickly fell into a disadvantageous position, being surrounded and attacked by several magical beasts.
"Help!"
Chen screamed in terror, his voice filled with fear. I didn't want to pay him any attention, but seeing his disheveled state, I couldn't help but feel a little sorry for him.
I directed Xiao Jin to quickly eliminate the few monsters around us, and then charged towards Chen's direction...
"you……"
Chen looked at me with a complicated expression, as if he wanted to say something but couldn't bring himself to. I directed Xiao Jin, my sharp eyes scanning the approaching horde of monsters.
They were like a black tide, emitting a nauseating, fishy stench that sent chills down one's spine.
"Little Gold, Wind Blade!"
I gave a low shout. Little Gold let out a deep roar, and dozens of sharp wind blades instantly condensed around its body.
These wind blades shot towards the small group of demonic beasts at the forefront like arrows, tearing them to pieces.
Blood splattered, and severed limbs were scattered all over the ground. The once ferocious horde of monsters was stunned by this sudden attack, and their steps faltered slightly.
The students around me were stunned. They never expected that my beast tamer would be so powerful, able to kill the monster so easily.
Even Chen, who always thought highly of himself, showed a surprised expression.
He originally thought my tamed beast was just an ordinary cheetah, but he never expected it to have such powerful attack capabilities.
"Well done, Nong Yu!"
Su Yao gave me an approving look, her eyes sparkling with excitement.
I know this is only a temporary advantage. There are too many monsters; more will soon surge in.
Sure enough, a moment later, more monsters rushed out of the darkness, letting out deafening roars as they madly pounced on us.
"Xiao Jin, be careful to protect everyone!"
I shouted loudly, drawing the dagger from my waist, ready for close combat.
Little Gold let out a roar, its body transforming into a golden lightning bolt as it weaved through the horde of monsters, relentlessly attacking them with its claws and teeth.
I wasn't idle either; the dagger in my hand was like a venomous snake, each strike accurately hitting the monster's vital points.
Su Yao's phoenix also joined the battle. It let out a clear cry, circled above us, and kept spewing flames, burning a large number of magical beasts to ashes.
Su Yao and I worked together seamlessly. She was responsible for holding off the powerful magical beasts, while I directed Xiao Jin to attack their weak points.
The battle was incredibly fierce, with shouts of battle, roars of beasts, and howls of monsters mingling together, creating a deafening cacophony. After an unknown amount of time, the monster horde finally began to retreat.
They dragged their injured bodies and slowly disappeared into the darkness. We all breathed a sigh of relief and collapsed to the ground, our bodies aching all over.
Although I had temporarily repelled the monster horde, I remained vigilant. I knew they could very well return.
Moreover, Chen had been observing coldly from the sidelines, his eyes darting around as if he were plotting something.
I have a feeling that the next crisis might not just come from Warcraft...
“Nong Yu,”
Su Yao walked to my side, her expression grave. "We need to leave here as soon as possible."
I nodded in agreement. Just then, I noticed Chen sneaking into Professor Sun's tent... My heart tightened, and an ominous premonition welled up inside me.
I grabbed Su Yao's arm and whispered, "Let's go take a look."
We quietly approached Professor Sun's tent and, through the crack, saw Chen searching for something... In his hand, he was holding an ancient map with a red mark and the words "Ruins" written next to it... He quickly stuffed the map into his pocket and then sneakily left the tent... Su Yao and I exchanged a glance, our eyes filled with doubt... "Ruins..." I murmured.
