Beast Taming Star Journey

Chapter 25 The Dilemma of the Ruins, A Glimmer of Hope

A massive stone slab was crashing down from above! Instinctively, I rolled to the side, barely dodging the fatal blow. Shards of stone flew everywhere, dust billowed, and I scrambled to my feet, my heart pounding.

"Damn it!"

I cursed under my breath and wiped the dust off my face. The traps in these ruins were truly impossible to avoid; a moment's carelessness could cost you your life.

Su Yao also flashed to my side, her long sword gleaming coldly as she warily surveyed her surroundings.

"Are you OK?"

She asked with concern.

I shook my head: "It's okay, let's keep going."

The core area was so close, I couldn't give up! We carefully bypassed the fallen stone slabs and continued along the passage.

The guardian continued its relentless pursuit. Although its attacks were powerful, they seemed to be somewhat restricted, preventing it from unleashing its full potential.

While dodging the guardian's attacks, I observed my surroundings. Suddenly, around a corner, I discovered a complex mechanism.

The mechanism looked incredibly ancient and sophisticated, composed of countless gears and runes, so intricate it was dazzling. A thought struck me, and I stopped in my tracks.

"what happened?"

Su Yao asked.

"Look at this mechanism,"

I pointed to the device on the wall and said, “I think this might be the key to unlocking the core area.”

Su Yao also observed carefully, her brows furrowed: "This mechanism looks very complicated; even Professor Sun might not be able to solve it."

Professor Sun is an expert in ancient ruins at the academy. Even he found the mechanism tricky, which shows how difficult it was. But I didn't back down; instead, I felt a surge of excitement.

I had a feeling I could solve this puzzle. I carefully observed every detail of the mechanism, trying to find the pattern.

My tamed beast companion, the little fire fox, also jumped onto my shoulder, using its keen senses to help me analyze the situation.

Time passed second by second, the guardian's attacks grew more and more intense, and the passage began to shake as if it would collapse at any moment.

At this critical moment, I suddenly had a flash of inspiration and found a way to break the mechanism!

"I see!"

I shouted excitedly, "Little Fire, help me!"

I quickly followed the steps in my mind and began operating the mechanism. The little fox cooperated with me, using its nimble little paws to manipulate some of the small parts.

Click! With a crisp sound, the mechanism was activated! A hidden door slowly opened, revealing a passage leading deeper into the passage.

"Success!"

I was overjoyed.

However, before I could rejoice for long, the guardian, seeing that I had deciphered the mechanism, seemed to become even angrier. It let out a deafening roar and intensified its attack, trying to prevent me from entering the area behind the secret door...

“Nong Yu…”

Su Yao's voice carried a hint of worry.

I clenched my fists, my gaze unwavering... The guardian's roar made my eardrums ring, and its massive body, carrying a ferocious force, pounced on me.

A chill ran through me; I immediately realized we had to get into the secret door as soon as possible.

"Little Fire, cover me!"

I yelled and backed away. The little fire fox let out a shriek, and a wall of fire appeared out of thin air, blocking the way between the guardian and me.

Although the fire wall couldn't completely stop the Guardian's attack, it bought me valuable time.

Holding Su Yao's hand, I fended off the guardians' sporadic attacks as we approached the hidden door.

The passageway was shaking more and more violently, and loose rocks kept falling from above, making the situation extremely dangerous.

"careful!"

Su Yao shoved me away, and a huge rock grazed my shoulder and crashed to the ground, kicking up a cloud of dust.

I broke out in a cold sweat and looked at Su Yao anxiously, asking, "Are you alright?"

"I'm fine,"

Su Yao shook her head, "Go inside quickly!"

The guardian's attacks grew increasingly fierce, and the little fire fox endured several attacks to protect me, resulting in several wounds on its body.

It let out a painful whimper, which broke my heart.

"Little Fire, hang in there!"

I gritted my teeth, my heart filled with anger and self-reproach. I had to find a way out of this predicament! I forced myself to calm down and observed my surroundings.

The walls near the hidden door were covered with ancient runes, and broken stones were scattered on the ground. Suddenly, a thought struck me.

These runes and stones might be useful! While dodging the guardian's attacks, I kicked stones from the ground at the guardian.

Although these stones couldn't cause any real damage to the guardian, they could slightly hinder its movements. At the same time, I began to try to understand the meaning of the runes on the walls.

These runes look incredibly complex, but upon closer inspection, I discovered that they seem to be related to some kind of energy flow.

"Su Yao, shield me!"

I shouted. Su Yao immediately understood what I meant. She brandished her longsword, drawing the guardian's attention to herself.

I took the opportunity to place my hand on the runes on the wall, trying to guide the energy within.

A strange energy flowed into my body through my arm, and I felt my strength instantly increase significantly.

I was overjoyed and continued to guide the energy, while transferring some of it to the little fire fox.

The little fire fox, having replenished its energy, began to heal its injuries. It let out a joyful cry and unleashed another wall of fire, forcing the guardian back a few steps.

I seized the opportunity and pulled Su Yao into the hidden door. The space behind the hidden door wasn't large, and inside were some strange runic stone tablets and some glittering treasures.

But before I could get a good look around, the guardian rushed in. In this confined space, the guardian's attacks were even harder to dodge.

I must protect these treasures while defending against the guardians' attacks...

"It seems the real battle has only just begun..."

I whispered, clutching a rune-carved stone I'd picked up from the ground tightly in my hand. The stone was icy cold to the touch…
