Beast Taming Star Journey

Chapter 126 The Guardian of Inheritance, A Turning Point Appears

Just as the dazzling light was about to touch the feathers on the Thunder Eagle's back, a powerful aura suddenly descended, like a mountain pressing down on me, making it almost impossible for me to breathe. "Stop!" A deep voice reverberated in the air, forcing me to abandon my attack and stagger back a few steps.

As the smoke cleared, a figure slowly appeared before us. He wore a long blue robe, had white hair and a youthful face, and possessed an air of otherworldly grace, surrounded by an indescribable aura of power.

Without anyone introducing me, I immediately understood that this was Elder Feng, one of the guardians of the heritage site.

Elder Feng's gaze swept over us, finally settling on me, his deep eyes seeming to see through everything.

I felt uneasy, unsure whether this unfathomably powerful elder was friend or foe. The Thunder Beastmaster also stopped his attack, a hint of apprehension on his face.

The air froze, the atmosphere tense to the extreme. "Young man, your beast-taming ability is quite unique," Elder Feng spoke, his voice calm yet carrying an undeniable authority. "Why did you trespass into the inheritance grounds?"

I took a deep breath, trying to remain calm. "Elder, we meant no harm. We just wanted to seek refuge from the Thunder Beastmaster's pursuit." I pointed to the Thunder Beastmaster not far away and continued, "He wanted to steal our beasts, so we had no choice but to flee here."

Elder Feng turned his gaze to Lei Yushouzhe, whose expression changed slightly. He quickly explained, "Elder Feng, this kid is talking nonsense! I was just passing by and did not chase after them."

Elder Feng ignored Lei Yuzhe's explanation. He merely glanced at him indifferently, and an invisible pressure instantly enveloped Lei Yuzhe.

The Thunder Beastmaster was deathly pale, trembling all over, and even breathing became difficult. The Thunder Eagle behind him also let out a mournful cry and flapped its wings uneasily.

"This land of inheritance is not a place for you to run wild!" Elder Feng snorted coldly, and with a flick of his sleeve, a powerful gust of wind swept out, instantly sending Lei Yuzhe and his beast flying.

Lei Yushou fell heavily to the ground, spitting out blood, clearly suffering a serious injury.

I was secretly shocked. Elder Feng's strength was indeed unfathomable. He defeated a high-level beast tamer with just one move.

He turned his head and looked at me again, this time with a hint of appreciation in his eyes.

"Young man, your courage and beast-taming skills are commendable. The Land of Inheritance is not off-limits to outsiders, but they must pass a test."

A test? I was puzzled, wondering what Elder Feng meant by a test.

"Are you willing to accept the test?" Elder Feng's voice rang out again, carrying an air of undeniable authority.

I nodded without hesitation, “I do!” This was an opportunity, a chance to prove myself.

Elder Feng smiled slightly and pointed to an ancient stone tablet in the distance. “Go, place your hand on the stone tablet, and it will guide you in the right direction.”

I took a deep breath and stepped towards the stone tablet. Su Yao followed behind me, her eyes filled with worry and encouragement.

I walked to the stone tablet, slowly extended my hand, and gently placed it on the cold stone surface… A strange energy instantly surged into my body, and a mysterious voice appeared in my mind: “Land of Inheritance, welcome to your arrival…”

That voice... I feel like I've heard it somewhere before... A tingling sensation spread through the cold stone tablet, and the mysterious voice in my mind gradually faded away.

I withdrew my hand and turned to look at Su Yao, who was looking at me with a worried expression.

I gave her a reassuring smile, and Su Yao happily took my hand, gently pinched the back of my hand, and said, "Yu, our efforts have paid off."

I smiled too. Yes, at least we're safe for now, and it seems we're one step closer to passing on the legacy.

Elder Feng's figure had vanished, leaving only his profound words echoing in the air: "Welcome to the Land of Inheritance..."

This sentence always seems familiar, but I can't quite place where I've heard it before.

“Let’s go,” I said, taking Su Yao’s hand. “Let’s see what secrets this place of inheritance holds.”

We walked in the direction indicated by the stone tablet. Along the way, ancient trees reached for the sky, blocking out the sun, and an ancient and mysterious atmosphere permeated the surroundings.

I felt that the spiritual energy around me was more concentrated than that outside, and I could even sense a strange energy fluctuation. This energy fluctuation made my beast-taming power within me slightly restless.

"Be careful," I warned Su Yao, "something's strange here." Su Yao nodded, gripped her longsword tightly, and cautiously observed her surroundings.

We walked for a while and found a fork in the road ahead, with two roads leading in different directions and no signs.

As I was hesitating about which path to take, I suddenly heard a soft rustling sound, like someone moving through the grass.

I immediately became alert and whispered to Su Yao, "Someone's there!" Su Yao heard the voice too. She drew her longsword and pointed it in the direction the voice came from. "Who's there?"

No one answered, but the rustling sound grew closer. I held my breath, listening intently, trying to pinpoint the other person's location.

Suddenly, a figure darted out of the bushes with incredible speed, appearing before us in the blink of an eye. "Heh heh, didn't expect there to be two escapees!"

The newcomer was a short, stout man with a cunning smile on his face. He was none other than the Fire Beastmaster who had been with the Thunder Beastmaster earlier! What was he doing here?

Didn't he leave with the Thunder Beastmaster? My mind was filled with doubt. "What do you want?" I stood in front of Su Yao, watching the Fire Beastmaster warily.

"What are we doing? Of course, we're here to seize the inheritance!" The Fire Beastmaster grinned slyly. "That idiot Lei got scared off by Elder Feng, what a stroke of luck for me!"

So he'd been hiding in the shadows all along, trying to seize the inheritance amidst the chaos! What a cunning fellow! "You won't get away with this!" I clenched my fist, and the beast-taming power within me began to surge.

"Just the two of you?" The Fire Beastmaster scoffed disdainfully. "You overestimate yourselves!"

Suddenly, a ball of flame appeared in his hand and he hurled it at me... I quickly dodged, the flame grazed my sleeve, and a scorching heat rushed towards me.

I was startled; this fire beast tamer's strength was not to be underestimated! Just then, I felt a strong sense of danger coming from behind me...

"Watch out!" a voice rang in my ear... I turned around abruptly...
