Beast Taming Star Journey
Chapter 114 Eradicating the Crisis and Rebuilding Peace
From the depths of the mist, a chilling aura swept over me, making me shiver involuntarily.
Su Yao also sensed something amiss. She gripped her longsword tightly, warily scanning her surroundings. "We must be careful," she whispered. Passing through layers of mist, we finally arrived at the Beast Taming Research Base.
Although the area has been brought under control, an unsettling energy fluctuation still lingers in the air, as if something is lurking in the shadows, waiting for its chance to strike.
Researcher Zhao followed behind us, pale-faced and trembling, clearly terrified by what had just happened. "Researcher Zhao, what exactly happened here?" I asked in a low voice.
Researcher Zhao pointed tremblingly into the depths of the base, "It's...it's inside, that...that energy...is very...very unstable..." I nodded, took a deep breath, and said to Su Yao, "Let's go in and take a look." The base was in a mess, with scattered instruments and documents everywhere, and mottled bloodstains on the walls, silently telling the story of the fierce battle that had taken place here.
I unleashed my mental energy, carefully sensing the energy fluctuations around me, trying to find the source.
Suddenly, I sensed a powerful energy fluctuation emanating from the deepest part of the base. The energy was chaotic and violent, as if it could explode at any moment. "Found it!" I exclaimed with delight, and immediately led Su Yao and Researcher Zhao toward the direction from which the energy fluctuation came.
In a sealed laboratory, we found the source of the energy—an energy sphere shimmering with an eerie light, suspended in mid-air, constantly humming, its presence distorting and deforming the surrounding air. "What is this thing?" Su Yao stared at the energy sphere before her, her eyes filled with astonishment.
"This is an out-of-control beast taming energy core," I explained. "If left unchecked, it will explode sooner or later, and the entire city will be razed to the ground." I took a deep breath, mobilized the beast taming power within me, and established a deeper connection with my tamed beast—the Crimson Flame Griffin.
A powerful force surged into my body, and I felt the telepathic connection between myself and the Crimson Griffin become even clearer, as if we had become one. "Crimson Griffin, absorb it!" I commanded.
The Crimson Griffin let out a loud cry, opened its huge mouth, and a powerful suction force gushed out from its mouth, slowly drawing the energy ball into its body.
As the energy sphere shrank, the surrounding energy fluctuations gradually subsided, and the oppressive feeling in the air dissipated.
Researcher Zhao stared in disbelief at the scene, his eyes filled with awe. "This...this is unbelievable..." he murmured to himself, "You...your beast can actually absorb this kind of energy..." I smiled and offered no explanation.
This is a special ability I was born with, allowing me to enter into an equal contract with my tamed beasts and share their power. "Alright, we're safe now." I patted Researcher Zhao on the shoulder and said, "Next, we need to repair the equipment in the base and completely eradicate the hidden danger of the tamed beasts going out of control." Researcher Zhao nodded and led us to the base's control room.
However, when we saw the scene in the control room, we couldn't help but gasp... The wiring on the control panel was intricate, and many critical components were severely damaged, almost beyond repair... "This..." Researcher Zhao's face turned pale, and he said in a trembling voice, "This... what can we do..." I frowned, and an ominous premonition rose in my heart... "I'm afraid..." I looked at the devastated control room and said in a deep voice, "Things... are more complicated than we imagined..." The control room was filled with the smell of burning, and the flickering lights shone on the parts scattered on the floor, making it look particularly desolate.
I crouched down, picked up a charred circuit board, and gently ran my fingers over the broken lines on it, feeling a heavy weight in my heart.
Researcher Zhao is right. The damage to these critical devices far exceeds my expectations, and repairing them is virtually impossible. "What... what are we going to do..." Researcher Zhao's voice trembled, and his face was filled with despair.
The crisis of the beasts going out of control was finally brought under control. If these devices cannot be repaired, all the previous efforts will be in vain, and it may even cause an even greater disaster.
I took a deep breath, trying to stay calm. This wasn't the time to panic; I had to think of a solution.
I carefully examined each damaged part, trying to find a glimmer of hope for repair.
Time ticked by, and fine beads of sweat appeared on my forehead, but I still hadn't succeeded.
Su Yao walked to my side and gently patted my shoulder. Her voice, like warm sunshine, dispelled the gloom in my heart. "You can definitely find a way, just like before." Her encouragement gave me immense strength. I looked up at her determined eyes, and the flame of hope was rekindled in my heart.
Yes, I've overcome so many difficulties before, and I'm sure I can do it this time too! I rallied and started trying other methods to repair the equipment.
I disassembled some intact parts, attempting to replace the damaged ones with them. This was an extremely complex and delicate task, requiring immense patience and skill.
My fingers moved incessantly among the various lines and parts, my mind highly focused, not daring to relax for even a moment.
Time ticked by, and the control room was silent except for the faint sound of the tools in my hands.
I seemed to forget about time and everything around me, immersing myself completely in the restoration work.
Finally, after my persistent efforts, some of the indicator lights on the control panel lit up again. I was overjoyed, knowing that I had achieved initial success.
However, this is just the beginning; more time and effort are needed to completely repair these devices. "It seems... we still have a long way to go..." I said softly, my voice tinged with weariness but also full of hope.
Suddenly, the door to the control room was pushed open, and a man in a black uniform walked in.
He was tall and imposing, with sharp eyes, and exuded a powerful aura. "Who are you?" he asked coldly.
I looked up at his unfamiliar face, a sense of unease rising within me. "We've come here to..." Before I could finish, he interrupted me, "Whoever you are, this is not a place for you. Leave immediately!" His tone was firm and laced with warning.
Su Yao and I exchanged a glance, both seeing confusion and unease in each other's eyes. Who exactly was this strange man? Why was he stopping us from repairing the equipment?
Could there be an even bigger conspiracy hidden behind this? As we stepped out of the control room, a strange atmosphere rushed towards us.
The surrounding buildings soared into the clouds, with unique designs and a metallic sheen, unlike anything we had ever seen before.
A strange energy fluctuation permeated the air, sending shivers down one's spine. "Where...am I?" Su Yao asked in a low voice, her eyes filled with vigilance.
I shook my head, indicating that I didn't know either. It was as if we had entered a completely unfamiliar world, where everything around us was fraught with unknown dangers.
I gripped Su Yao's hand tightly, silently preparing for battle. "No matter where we are," I whispered, "we must be careful..." Suddenly, a piercing alarm blared, shattering the surrounding silence...
