Beast Taming Star Journey
Chapter 113 Residual problems remain, but have been completely eradicated.
The intermittent static from the communicator felt like a sharp thorn piercing my heart. On the edge of the city, out-of-control beasts… Could it be that the mastermind still has remnants of their power?
I took a deep breath, trying to calm myself down. "Su Yao, we need to go to the edge of the city." Su Yao's expression also turned serious. "Those out-of-control beasts?" I nodded, a sense of unease rising in my heart.
The public anger that had previously subsided is now lurking like an undercurrent, ready to erupt at any moment. If the out-of-control beasts cannot be brought under control in time, the consequences will be unimaginable.
We set off immediately and gathered the local beast tamers. Although these beast tamers weren't top-tier in strength, they were familiar with the terrain, and their numbers made them a great help.
I briefly explained the situation. Everyone's faces showed a hint of tension, but even more so, a determination. When we reached the edge of the city, the scene before me made my heart sink.
A large group of out-of-control beasts gathered together, roaring restlessly. Their eyes gleamed with an eerie light, unlike ordinary wild beasts, more like... puppets controlled by some kind of force.
Even more unsettling is that they seem to be communicating with each other, vaguely forming a new collective consciousness. "This...this number is too many!" exclaimed one of the beast tamers.
I roughly estimated there were at least a hundred of them, and they were of various species with varying strengths, which greatly increased the difficulty of controlling them. "Everyone, don't panic!" I shouted. "Use the formation we practiced before to divide and surround them!" I quickly divided my beasts into several small teams, each under my command.
My tamed beasts are in perfect harmony with me; they understand my commands precisely and swiftly divide the out-of-control horde into several smaller encirclements. "Attack!" I commanded, and my tamed beasts launched the first attack.
They coordinated perfectly, their moves swift and deadly, defeating the surrounded, out-of-control beasts one by one. The beast tamers also commanded their own beasts to join the battle.
The battle was incredibly fierce, with roars and howls echoing everywhere. I directed my beasts in battle while observing the overall situation.
Although the Zhou Beast Tamers are not as strong as I am, they are all very brave and have shown a high degree of teamwork in battle, which makes me feel gratified. "As expected of Lord Nong Yu, his command ability is truly outstanding!" one of the Zhou Beast Tamers exclaimed.
I smiled slightly and didn't say anything more. At that moment, all my energy was focused on the battle in front of me.
With fewer and fewer out-of-control beasts remaining, the scales of victory seem to be tipping in our favor.
However, at that moment, a thick fog suddenly billowed out from the out-of-control horde of beasts, blotting out the sky and instantly enveloping the entire battlefield. "What's going on..." My voice trailed off, a sense of foreboding rising in my heart.
The thick fog arrived suddenly, like a giant beast opening its blood-red maw to devour us all. Visibility instantly dropped to extremely low levels; I couldn't even see Su Yao's figure beside me.
The communicator crackled with the panicked shouts of the beast tamers, mingled with the terrified howls of their beasts; the entire scene was utter chaos. "Su Yao!" I cried out, but only heard an empty echo.
My heart sank. This fog not only obscured our vision, but it also seemed to sever our connection with our beasts.
I sensed that my beasts were also becoming restless; their attacks lost their aim, and they charged haphazardly through the mist.
A cold hand grasped mine, and a warm current instantly spread throughout my body. "I'm here," Su Yao's voice came from beside me, carrying a hint of determination.
"Don't panic, let's think of a solution together." She held my hand tightly, as if transferring strength and dispelling the fear in my heart.
I took a deep breath, trying to calm myself down. Su Yao was right; now was not the time to panic. I had to find a way to break out of this predicament. "All Beast Tamers, cease attacking! Gather your beasts and come closer to me!" I shouted into the communicator. My voice sounded a little distorted in the thick fog, but I hoped my command would reach every Beast Tamer.
I sensed my tamed beasts approaching, so I summoned them back to my side and used my mental energy to soothe their emotions.
Su Yao was doing the same thing, her tamed beast whimpering softly beside her, as if giving her strength. "This mist... is very strange." Su Yao's voice rang in my ears, "It doesn't just obscure vision, it seems to also have some kind of mental interference, affecting the emotions of the tamed beasts." I nodded, I felt it too.
This fog is more like some kind of special energy field, disrupting the connection between us and our beast tamers, and causing the beast tamers to lose their sense of direction. "I think I might know what this is..." A trembling voice came from the communicator; it was one of the beast tamers.
"I once saw a similar record in an ancient book. This mist... is released by a type of beast called the 'Illusionary Mist Beast.' They can manipulate the mist, interfere with the tamer's senses, and even create illusions..." Illusionary Mist Beast?
A thought flashed through my mind. If that were the case, then we had to find the Illusionary Mist Beast to break free from our current predicament. "Everyone, be careful of your surroundings! Try to stay calm and don't be fooled by the illusions!" I reminded them again through the communicator.
We cautiously groped our way through the fog, clinging tightly to each other, not daring to separate even for a moment.
Everything around me became blurry, as if I were in a dream world. I focused my mental energy intensely, trying to perceive everything around me.
Suddenly, I sensed a powerful energy fluctuation emanating from the depths of the mist, and my heart skipped a beat. "There!" I pointed in the direction from which the energy fluctuation came and said to Su Yao.
Su Yao sensed it too. She nodded, a resolute glint in her eyes.
We walked side by side toward the direction from which the energy fluctuations were coming, gripping our weapons tightly, ready to deal with any potential dangers.
The fog grew thicker and thicker, and the air around us became increasingly oppressive. I felt a strange sense of crisis enveloping us... "Wait..." I suddenly stopped, a feeling of unease washing over me. This fog... seemed more complicated than we had imagined... "What's wrong?" Su Yao asked, looking at me with a puzzled expression.
I shook my head, pointed deeper into the distance, and said in a heavy voice, "I feel... there... something else there..."
