Rebirth: I Became a Maggot 2
Chapter 74 The Enemy Finally Appears
I flew into the cabbage field with Dafu in my arms. Since Dafu had basically lost its sense of smell, I was basically guiding the way from then on.
Although I don't have the ability to survive in the wild, I still know the most basic things, like finding my way around. I've seen it on TV at least once.
So I took Dafu and, based on the sun's position, headed towards the exit.
But after flying for a while, I felt a sense of dread; something was really wrong.
When I stopped to observe my surroundings, Dafu looked at me with a puzzled expression, so I explained my current situation to him.
But Dafu didn't understand. Even though I explained it so clearly, Dafu still looked at me as if he didn't understand.
So I explained, quite frustrated, "Don't you understand? There must be some danger ahead that has trapped everyone, or they've encountered some kind of danger they can't escape from, or they've encountered some problem they're trying to solve and don't have a chance to get out. Anyway, something's happened, and it's definitely not going to be that easy to get out." I said with certainty.
"How did you know?" Dafu asked, puzzled.
"This is wisdom," I said with great pride. I'm not bragging, this is real wisdom, hahaha.
I couldn't help but chuckle to myself, wondering how I could be so clever.
"What is wisdom? Can you eat it?" Dafu asked curiously.
"Yimao Er, what's wrong? Why are you vomiting blood? Why are you foaming at the mouth? Why is your body convulsing?" Dafu cried out anxiously.
"Alright, stop arguing. You're the one who made me angry. Let's get on our way." I said, quite annoyed. This Dafu is simply unreasonable.
So I slowly continued flying forward with the big fortune in my arms, my heart filled with more and more worry as I flew. I hoped I was just overthinking it, but no matter how I looked at it, the current situation didn't seem like there was any possibility of a problem.
We slowly moved forward, and after flying for a while, I saw the thing I least wanted to see: a battlefield appeared not far in front of me.
That's right, it's a battlefield. There are a lot of flies, butterflies, dragonflies and bees lying on the ground, and it's unclear whether they are dead or alive. The most important thing is that apart from these, there are no other creatures to be seen.
There's definitely something wrong, but how did those insects end up lying on the ground?
And there are no other living beings around. What's going on?
I stared in disbelief at the countless insects lying on the ground, my heart filled with fear. Just as I had imagined, but what should I do next?
What about the rest of the insects? Did they all hide? Were they hiding before figuring out the situation?
It was only then that I remembered that the rule about circling the village didn't have a time limit, and my only requirement was to fly back.
This explains why the other insects have disappeared.
But looking at the battlefield before me, what kind of creature could have caused so many insects to lie here, and so silently?
Faced with this bizarre scene, I was filled with doubt. What was going on?
"What do we do about the 12 cents? What are we going to do?" Dafu, who was following behind me, asked anxiously, looking at the scene before him.
"Don't speak, don't you think I'm trying to figure something out?" To be honest, I was also filled with surprise. What happened? How could they all die? And so silently?
So you'd think there are many strong opponents, but so far I haven't even seen a glimpse of them. What does that mean? It means the enemy is very good at hiding.
Thinking of this, I quickly looked around, fearing that there might be hidden enemies lurking nearby.
But apart from the deathly silence, there was almost no sound; it was an eerie quiet.
The quieter the situation, the more dangerous it is, so I quickly whispered to Dafu, "Stay close to me, we need to get out of here."
"Where are we going?" Dafu asked, puzzled.
"No matter where we go, let's get out of here first! Can't you see all these insects lying here? Can't you see there's danger?" I shouted angrily. At a time like this, she was still asking such a stupid question.
"Oh, where are we going?" Dafu asked like an idiot.
"Don't ask so many questions, just follow me," I whispered, and then flew off to the side.
If all else fails, I'll just go around it. I refuse to believe that the mysterious murderer has blocked all the roads.
Just as I was flying to one side with Dafu, a dark shadow suddenly darted past me from behind.
When I turned around, there was nothing there. Maybe I was just being paranoid, but I felt it was definitely not safe to stay here any longer, so I decided to leave as soon as possible.
"Let's go, it's not safe here." The unease grew stronger, and I quickly said to Dafu.
So I took Dafu and flew around to the side in hopes of avoiding this inexplicable danger, but even though I flew around to the side with a bet, I still felt a trace of danger following behind me.
I had a feeling that something was following me, but when I looked back, there was nothing there, which made me even more panicked.
The cabbages around us looked like mountain peaks, while Dafu and I looked like we were desperately trying to escape in a canyon.
Most importantly, the cabbages here seem to follow no pattern at all, which means I have to find the right path while also being wary of the lurking danger behind me.
I flew desperately to one side with Dafu in my arms. As we sped up, the creature behind us probably got anxious too and quickened its pace.
It jumped from one cabbage to another, and this time it finally saw the creature clearly, but only roughly, and still dared not confirm.
But at least one thing is certain: there really is danger, and there are indeed other creatures besides us.
Now that my conjecture has been proven, there is only one thing left for me: to run for my life.
But as if it knew I was going to run away, the creature sped up and chased after me frantically.
Damn, they're going to hunt us down! If we don't run now, when will we?
So I frantically ran away with Dafu, because we couldn't go higher than the cabbage, otherwise we'd be out of the game. So we could only fly through the gaps in the cabbage.
But the creature was like an alien from a movie; it leaped rapidly among the cabbages, and after spinning around in the air a few times, it landed right on a cabbage in front of us.
It was only then that I got a clear look at the creature in front of me. It was a gray grasshopper, staring at us with fierce eyes, ready to attack at any moment...
