Rebirth: I Became a Maggot 2

Chapter 72 The Moving Maze

Actually, I didn't have a good impression of those two flies. After all, they were the ones who refused to help when I was in trouble. I just don't understand how they had the nerve to come and talk to me.

The question posed by that big fly is also my question. Don't tell me I don't know; even if I did know, I wouldn't want to say it.

So I said, "There's nothing we can do. We have too few clues."

I'm telling the truth, because how can we know anything and what to do if we don't know anything right now?

"I see. Well, good luck then." After saying that, the big fly left with the little fly.

A little while later, Dafu returned, carrying a small spicy strip in his arms.

"Here you go, these are the spicy strips you wanted. Eat them quickly, they'll give you the energy to keep going," Dafu said, handing me the spicy strips.

I looked at the spicy strips in Dafu's hand with a puzzled expression and asked, "What is this?"

"Isn't this the spicy strip you wanted?" Dafu said.

I stared at the blackened, burnt-out mess in my hand, speechless for a long time. What kind of spicy snack is this? When did spicy snacks become so ugly?

Is this the spicy snack that rich people eat? Or is this the spicy snack that country bumpkins eat?

It looks incredibly eerie; how can I possibly eat it?

And what the hell is this stuff made of? This is supposed to be spicy strips? Besides looking like strips, how can you tell it's spicy?

"Eat quickly, eat quickly, we'll leave after we eat," Dafu called out to me from the side.

I couldn't bring myself to eat the spicy strip in my hand. How was I supposed to eat it? It looked like a freshly burned matchstick.

But the surrounding insects began to rush in quickly, and the cabbages looked like mountain peaks, while the surrounding gaps looked like canyons.

All those insects flew through the canyon, heading towards the end of the cabbage field.

They disappeared into the cabbage field in an instant, leaving me and Dafu standing there dumbfounded.

"Can't I just not eat?" I said, feeling quite annoyed. How could I possibly eat this?

"If you don't eat, you won't be able to fly over. Who knows what problems you'll encounter inside?" Dafu said anxiously.

"What is this thing? How do you eat it?" I said, quite disgusted.

“Just eat it directly, how else can you eat it?” Dafu said.

"Hurry up! Everyone else has left, and they're just waiting for us!" Dafu called out anxiously when he saw that everyone else had left and only we were left.

Looks like I really can't resist eating it. I hope this weird spicy snack won't kill me? I see the other insects are fine, so I should be okay too, right?

So I tried to slowly bring it to my mouth, even though I was actually resisting it; my heart was being pricked by needles.

Just then, a force from who-knows-where suddenly grabbed my hand and slammed it toward my mouth.

The spicy strips, which looked like matchsticks, rushed into my mouth, making me choke and feel extremely uncomfortable. I quickly took them out and started coughing uncontrollably.

"What the hell are you doing?" I yelled angrily.

Just now, Dafu nudged my hand when I was about to eat, which made me choke. Those noodles were really spicy!

I don't know if it's stuck in my throat, but I feel like vomiting, but nothing comes out, and I just feel waves of nausea.

This disgusting feeling wasn't just physical; it was also psychological. I was actually deep-throated by a spicy snack that looked like a matchstick.

I'm too heartbroken to even cry anymore; all I feel now is resentment and anger.

Faced with my anger, Dafu said, feeling quite aggrieved, "Are we still going to have the competition? If we don't leave now, we won't be able to leave at all."

I looked around and sure enough, everyone except the two of us had left; there wasn't a single person left. They had all rushed inside.

I quickly looked towards the vegetable patch, but there was no sound at all—no cries for help, no fighting, and absolutely no other sounds.

The insects rushed in as if they'd vanished without a sound. How bizarre! What's going on? Is there something inside waiting for us to die?

"Dafu, don't you feel something's off in there?" she asked Dafu. It was so eerie inside, so quiet.

“What’s so strange about it? They’ve probably already left and are heading towards their next target,” Dafu said anxiously.

"You mean we should go in now? Is there any danger inside?" I asked, puzzled.

"Yes, that's what the promotional material said. It said there's no danger inside, so let's hurry up and leave," Dafu said with certainty.

"Are you sure?" I asked, feeling quite frustrated as I looked at the quiet cabbage field.

"Yes, don't worry, let's go." Dafu called out anxiously.

"Alright then, let's go." I quickly threw away the spicy snack in my hand and said.

"Are you really not going to eat anything?" Dafu still wouldn't let me off the hook, and finally asked to confirm.

"What are you still eating? We're in a hurry, let's go." I threw down the spicy snack and flew inside.

Dafu followed me in, and once inside, it felt like we were flying through a giant canyon, with all the sunlight blocked by the enormous cabbage.

I originally thought that cabbages should be planted in a very orderly manner. Aren't farmland rows of cabbages supposed to look exceptionally nice and be easy to manage?

But the cabbages we encounter now are different. Our cabbages seem to have been planted haphazardly, one here and one there, not only disorderly but also numerous and dense.

It was like entering a maze; once inside, I immediately lost my sense of direction and couldn't find the right path at all.

What kind of cabbage field is this? Are farmers no longer reliable at farming? How can they possibly grow good-looking and delicious cabbages here?

The most crucial point is that we can't fly on the cabbages; we can only fly in the cabbage field. What is this test for us? Is it to make us navigate a maze?

What's even more outrageous is that there's no way to tell if there are any dangers in this cabbage field. If there are, then it's a double test of facing a maze and danger.

This so-called flying competition is such a rip-off! What are they trying to do? Is this some kind of moving maze?

It was a little warm at first, but as soon as I entered the cabbage field, a chilly feeling washed over me.

I had a very bad feeling. Looking at the cold and gloomy environment, I suddenly felt that it wouldn't be so easy to get through here.

Not long after Dafu and I flew inside, we spotted a bee. Didn't the bee arrive a long time ago? Why is it still here?
