Rebirth: I Became a Maggot 2

Chapter 71 The Omnipotent Fly Language

Thanks to my cleverness, we finally overcame the first trial, and everyone made it through safely.

The red petals were used to create red patterns to attract the cow's attention, and then the flying insects formed red patterns again, attracting the cow's attention once more.

We finally made it through safely, and as soon as we were done, we flew towards the next section of the road.

I thought it was a simple flying competition, just a test of physical strength and such.

But we didn't expect there to be so many challenges ahead. As we continued flying forward, we finally arrived at the second challenge. When we arrived, the bees were gone.

However, the second obstacle was a vegetable field, which didn't seem dangerous at all. But everyone suddenly stopped in front of the vegetable field.

"What's going on? Why did it stop again?" I asked, quite annoyed.

"It's dangerous here, don't rush over there," Dafu said beside me.

"Is there any danger? I don't see any danger at all." I looked at the patch of green vegetables in front of me. How could there be any danger? Are they afraid that cabbage worms will jump out and eat us?

Besides, we can just fly higher. I don't believe that cabbage worm can fly. I thought to myself, feeling quite annoyed.

"According to the competition rules, we have to fly through the middle of those cabbages, so everyone is getting ready," Na Dafu explained to me.

"How come I don't know? Where did you find these rules? I didn't see them," I said, quite annoyed.

"You can't read, so you didn't see it. It was written in the advertisement before," Dafu said matter-of-factly.

"It's written there! I didn't see anything!" I exclaimed, feeling quite frustrated.

"It's that advertisement we saw after we finished breakfast this morning," Dafu told me.

Hearing this, I knew I had lost. What kind of advertising slogan was that this morning? It was like a bunch of headless flies flying around randomly. How could it possibly have any language?

Okay, I admit I can't read, okay, I also admit I can't understand it. Since Dafu understands, I'll just listen to Dafu.

So I asked, "What do we do now? How do we get across?"

“Fly over there,” Dafu simply told me.

"Fly over there?" I looked at the endless vegetable field with a sense of frustration and said, speechless.

“Yes, we’ll fly there,” Dafu confirmed.

"If we can fly there, why are we still here? We can just fly directly there. Why stop?" I asked, feeling quite annoyed.

"We don't know what dangers are in that cabbage field yet, so we need to prepare first, and then we'll rush over in one go," Dafu explained.

"What do we need to prepare?" I asked, feeling quite frustrated.

"Get yourself back to peak condition, then fly there in one go. Of course, you can eat something if you get hungry," Dafu said.

"Eat something? What can I eat?" I asked, puzzled.

"There's plenty of food, what would you like to eat?" Dafu asked.

"Is there something to eat? What kind of food is there?" I asked expectantly.

I had some yogurt in the morning, then I got a lecture from Yitong, and after flying for so long, Dafu's question made me quite hungry.

"What do you want to eat? I'll go get you something," Dafu asked, looking at me.

"What kind of food do you have?" I asked curiously.

"These should all be things that keep us as clear-headed as possible and give us the motivation to pursue our goals," Daifuku said.

"What kinds of things are there?" I asked, still a little curious.

"There's chili powder, Lao Gan Ma chili sauce, spicy strips, chili peppers, white vinegar, and things like that," Dafu explained to me.

I was completely stunned when I heard this. How could there be such things? Come to think of it, I didn't see anyone carrying anything when we were flying.

But now I'm really depressed about what to eat and these things. Is it safe to eat these things?

How did these things get here? Were they buried here a long time ago?

"What are you eating?" Before I could even recover from my surprise, Dafu asked anxiously.

"Ah, is there anything else?" How am I supposed to eat all this stuff? It's all junk, how could I possibly eat it?

I just ate yogurt this morning, and now I'm eating chili peppers. This is going to give me diarrhea.

“That’s all. These things were prepared for this competition, so it’s not considered cheating. What do you want?” Dafu asked.

"Can I not eat it?" I replied, feeling annoyed.

"No, if you don't eat, how will you fly later? How will you try to rush over? What if you can't fly anymore?" Dafu called out worriedly.

I have this feeling that if I ate those things, I would fall off the road halfway. Isn't that going to give me a stomachache?

So I looked around to see who hadn't eaten, but to my disappointment, almost everyone was eating, and not only were they eating, they were eating a lot, as if they were in a hurry.

And at some point, vendors started pushing makeshift stalls made of small leaves along the edge of vegetable gardens to sell things like chili peppers.

Is that even possible? Aren't the routes supposed to be different every year? How did these vendors know? And what's the point of them coming here to sell chili peppers?

We flew all this way with nothing on us, so why are you giving us food? Aren't you afraid we'll renege on our debt?

"Free?" I asked Dafu next to me, looking at the vendors with a puzzled expression.

"How could that be? There's a fee. We'll collect it from the organizing committee later," Dafu explained.

"I saw this in an advertisement before that?" I was a little dumbfounded.

"Yes, it's written on it," Dafu said matter-of-factly.

Good heavens, a swarm of flies flew by, what on it could possibly be written? And what's with the writing on those flies? Can a single sentence really have so many meanings?

"I'll have some spicy strips," I said cautiously. I couldn't eat anything else anyway.

I suddenly feel like I'm pretty rich today. I licked the lid off a yogurt in the morning and ate spicy snacks in the afternoon. Even when I was a homebody, I didn't have this much fun.

Upon hearing my words, Dafu flew towards the nearby vendor to get some food, and I stood there waiting for Dafu to arrive.

By the way, let's see what's so special about this cabbage field that makes it ranked second. Is it even harder to get through than the cowshed we went through before?

Just as I was looking at the vegetable garden in front of me with great confusion, a voice came over: "So? Do you have any good ideas?"

I looked toward the sound and saw two flies, one big and one small, looking at me in front of me. The one speaking was the big fly.

They were the two flies that refused to help this morning...
