Rebirth: I Became a Maggot 2

Chapter 44 What kind of weird feeling is this?

During my conversation with Dafu, I learned about a crucial question: how does one transform from a maggot into a fly?

When will things change? I've always wanted to change, but I've never changed. Besides, I've only ever seen on TV how maggots turn into flies, but I've never actually studied it.

So if we're going by the timeline of Daifuku, then we should be starting to transform now, but I don't even have the slightest intention of transforming.

"What's wrong? Why are you looking at me like that?" Dafu asked, puzzled, wondering what I meant by looking at her.

"You've been like this for so long, why haven't you shown any signs of turning into a fly yet?" I asked, quite curiously.

"I don't know either, I haven't changed," Dafu replied bluntly.

"..." I really had nothing to say in the face of such an answer.

"What's wrong? Is there a problem?" Dafu asked, puzzled.

"What's wrong? This is a big problem. You've been born for so long, don't you feel even a little bit like you've turned into a fly?" I asked, quite puzzled.

"Didn't I say no?" Dafu replied very seriously.

Holy crap, no way? I'm practically crying. When is it? How do I even transform into a fly? Is this some kind of game to kill me?

What's going on here? Can't you give me some kind of feeling so I can change right away? Even childbirth has a cycle, so isn't there any explanation for turning into a fly?

"Haven't you heard any legends about what happens before you turn into a fly?" I asked, quite puzzled.

"Oh, I already told you, they say that their appetite increases before they turn into flies," Dafu said very seriously.

"Anything else?" I continued to ask.

"And I also have a particular fondness for sweets or sour foods," Dafu continued.

"Anything else?" I continued to ask.

"Also, they may vomit from time to time, but this is rare; very few maggots will vomit," Dafu said very seriously.

I quickly memorized it. My appetite increased, I craved sweet or sour foods, and I also experienced vomiting.

Ok?

Thinking about this, I suddenly felt a sense of familiarity. I felt that a certain human characteristic was particularly similar.

Upon closer reflection, I realized, wow, it really is! Isn't this the kind of reaction humans only have when they have children? How come maggots still have this reaction when they turn into flies?

Seriously, where are you going to find sour things? And sweets? Where are you going to find sweets? You can only find stinky things, okay?

Thinking about this almost made me vomit. How could this be so ridiculous? What kind of symptoms are these?

After listening to Dafu's introduction, I almost cried. What is all this? Are you kidding me?

I asked, quite frustrated, "So you didn't have any reaction at all? You've been born for so long, don't you feel anything?"

"No, I don't feel anything. They say that if you have enough food, you'll start to feel that sensation as you eat. At that point, you'll need to find a dark, damp place to prepare for the transformation, but I haven't felt anything yet," Dafu explained.

"I see. So, according to what you're saying, you should be almost there. At least you're almost there. If it's around the same time as me, then I should be almost there too," I said after analyzing for a while.

"But I don't feel it yet. However, now that there's food, I'll feel it when it's ready," Dafu said confidently.

"That's true, but it should be soon. We need to prepare now," I said casually. It seems we need to hurry back to the Mighty Cave; we can't stay here too long.

If some ants come to attack again, I'll be devastated. If I win, great, but if I lose, I'll be doomed.

"Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear!" I was still making plans for the future when Dafu next to me immediately started yelling.

"What's wrong with you?" I asked, feeling quite annoyed.

"My stomach started moving, I feel like I'm almost there," Dafu said happily.

Seriously, can you use a different adjective? What do you mean by "my belly is moving, it's almost here"? Do you think it's fetal movement? Do you think it's pregnancy?

Hearing Dafu's words, I was both amused and exasperated. What was he up to now? Did he eat too much and get a stomachache?

"Are you alright? Did you eat something that upset your stomach?" I asked with great concern.

"I don't know, my stomach just hurts, it hurts so much, it hurts so much," Dafu cried out in great pain.

"What happened? Don't scare me, what happened?" I asked anxiously.

"Ah, it doesn't hurt anymore." Just when I was very anxious, Dafu said to me as casually as if he were acting.

"What's wrong with you? Are you faking it or are you really in pain? How come the pain suddenly stopped?" I asked, quite annoyed. What kind of time is this to be joking?

"Really, it hurt a lot just now, and then suddenly the pain stopped. I don't know what happened," Na Dafu explained.

"Nobody would believe you!" I shouted angrily. How could I possibly feel that way?

Just as I finished speaking, I suddenly felt an unusual pain in my stomach, like acute gastroenteritis. It made me extremely uncomfortable, as if my intestines were tangled up. The pain was indescribable.

Could I be that unlucky? I just finished talking about someone else and my stomach started hurting. Is this what they call karma?

My face was contorted in pain, and just when I thought I was going to die, the pain suddenly disappeared. Along with the sudden disappearance of the pain, I suddenly felt that my stomach was empty, as if I hadn't eaten for days.

Right now, I really crave sour foods. In fact, just thinking about sour foods makes my mouth water and I start drooling.

God, so what Dafu said was true? So the feeling before turning into a fly really was that eerie feeling.

Why does this feel so unfair? Is this a coincidence or a cruel joke played by fate?

"Yi Mao Er, are you alright?" Da Fu, who was next to me, asked with great concern.

"I'm fine now, but something's about to happen," I said anxiously.

"What's wrong?" Dafu asked, puzzled.

"What's wrong? You're asking me what's wrong? Things have gotten really bad. We don't have time to wait until we go back. We might have to go into seclusion here." I explained anxiously.

After saying that, I crawled towards the queen ant. I needed her help now, and I would probably have to go into seclusion in the next few days to prepare to become a fly.
