Rebirth: I Became a Maggot 2

Chapter 22 Don't let caterpillars grow on you!

Just as I was worried that the rooster might come and eat me because it was heartbroken, a dog suddenly appeared out of nowhere. The dog was overjoyed to see the rooster and chased after it.

Whether in the countryside or the city, dogs like to chase something. However, since there are basically no chickens in the city, city dwellers cannot see the scene I am seeing now.

In rural areas, it's common to see dogs chasing chickens for fun, and sometimes they even kill them. I witnessed this scene firsthand. I don't know if they'll kill the chicken, but they are indeed chasing after the rooster at high speed.

"What the hell are you doing here?" The rooster panicked and fled into the distance.

"Let's see where you run off to today." Then, seeing the rooster, he chased after it.

So a real-life version of chaos unfolded around me, with one person chasing happily and the other running for their life, and I never knew what their purpose was in chasing each other like that.

Seeing how much fun they were having, I figured I had nothing to do. I was about to leave when a few large green caterpillars appeared and blocked my way.

I looked at those big green caterpillars with great annoyance. Were they trying to get themselves killed? Didn't they know there was a rooster not far ahead?

Even though I'm being chased by that dog now, what if it comes back sometime? Wouldn't that be the rooster's best meal? What's he doing here at this hour?

"Hey kid, did you just flirt with my sister?" the big green caterpillar in front of him said angrily.

"Your sister? I don't know your sister." I said, quite annoyed. When did I meet someone's sister? I was completely baffled by the question.

"So you're not going to admit it until I get over it, is that it?" the green worm said, clearly annoyed.

"I don't know you, and I don't know your sister either. I have something to do, so I'll be leaving now." I just want to get out of here. Who knows what will happen when that rooster comes back?

"Want to leave? Did I say you could leave?" the big green caterpillar said, clearly annoyed.

"That's right, you flirted with our big brother's sister and now you want to leave?" another big green caterpillar shouted, clearly annoyed.

I looked around, and lo and behold, three huge green caterpillars had completely surrounded me. Judging by their appearance, they were probably cabbage-eating worms, and they were even bigger than me. What were they doing here? Don't they sleep? Don't they hibernate?

I stared at the three large green caterpillars, completely bewildered and unsure of what to do. Just then, the lead caterpillar barked irritably, "What? Playing dumb? You think you can just leave after flirting with my girl?"

"What exactly do you want? I'm really in a hurry," I said, quite annoyed. Where did these bugs come from? Why did they appear now of all times?

"What? We don't want to know what we want to do. We just want to ask you what you want to do?" the leader of the large green caterpillars said angrily beside me.

"If I want to leave, what else can I do? What are you trying to do?" I asked, puzzled.

“We don’t want to do anything, why would we do anything? We just came to ask you what you want to do and what you did before,” the leader of the large green caterpillars said, as if reciting a tongue twister.

Holy crap, have these three guys been watching too much stand-up comedy? They're even using tongue twisters when they're arguing! I really don't have time to waste here any longer.

So I said directly, "Just tell me how you want me to leave, and draw a line in the sand."

I'm really angry. Even though that rooster is still being chased by that dog, I don't know when it will come back. What if it comes back in a bad mood and eats me? Who can I complain to?

"You want to draw a line, huh? If you don't give us an explanation today, and if you don't give my little sister an explanation, you're not leaving here." The leader of the big green caterpillars said angrily.

"Little sister?" I called out, quite annoyed. I thought it was just a bunch of bored bugs coming out to bother me, but I didn't expect a little sister to show up? What little sister?

I was very confused and didn't know what that big green caterpillar was saying.

"Little sister, come out and see this heartless man!" the big green caterpillar shouted angrily at a bend in the tree root.

As the big green caterpillar cried out, a caterpillar slowly crawled out from around the corner. If I'm not mistaken, wasn't this caterpillar the same one I had encountered before, the one who taught the rooster how to pick up girls?

The moment I saw these caterpillars, I finally understood. These big green caterpillars had come looking for trouble.

But these caterpillars and that big green caterpillar seem to be different species, right? How come they live together? And why are you defending the caterpillar?

I watched the caterpillar slowly crawl out, feeling quite annoyed. The caterpillar, looking very shy and nervous, crawled towards me.

The caterpillar slowly approached me, and the big green caterpillar spoke again: "Now you know her, right?"

"I know it," I said, feeling quite annoyed. When I saw the caterpillar come out, I knew I was in trouble.

"Since we know each other, that makes things easier. What did you do? What did you say? I don't need to repeat myself, do I?" the big green caterpillar said angrily.

"No need," I said softly. I didn't know what that big green caterpillar was planning. Was it going to beat me up later? To avenge its sister?

"Let me tell you first, my sister has never suffered any grievances. We treat her like a princess. Normally, let alone crying, even frowning would make us brothers sad, but..." The leader of the big green caterpillars stopped there.

"But you actually made our girl cry," the other caterpillar said, quite annoyed.

“Not only did it cry, it cried very sadly,” the last large green caterpillar chimed in.

Holy crap, are these three guys putting on a stand-up comedy routine? Did they rehearse before? Their responses are so smooth, it doesn't seem like it's their first time.

What annoyed me the most was that while those three guys were talking so enthusiastically, the caterpillar actually glanced at them shyly, then immediately turned its head away, looking very bashful, like a little woman.

Holy crap, really? This actually works? Does he have a crush on me?

Just when I was feeling really frustrated and didn't know what to do, the leader of the big green caterpillars spoke up: "You know perfectly well what you did, so we won't say it to avoid embarrassing everyone. Just tell us what to do?"

What the hell did I do? What do you mean it's embarrassing to talk about? What am I supposed to do? What can I do? I want to leave now, can you let me go?

I was incredibly depressed. How could something like this happen? I just randomly picked up an extra, and I actually found love with her? I should have just randomly picked up a few pretty girls on the street and confessed to them.

Faced with the intimidation of those three large green caterpillars and the attitude of that caterpillar, I really didn't know what to do.

"Then what do you suggest we do?" I said, feeling quite annoyed. As long as I leave here, the worst that can happen is that I get beaten up. I don't believe you'll hold me captive.

"Little sister, it's time for you to speak up. What do you suggest?" the big green caterpillar said to the caterpillar called "little sister."

"Um... um..." The caterpillar was unusually nervous, as if it had something to say but was too embarrassed to say it.

"Just say what you have to say. We'll stand up for you here. I don't think he has the guts to resist," the leader of the large green caterpillars said arrogantly.

"I want to have lots of caterpillars for him," the caterpillar named Little Sister said shyly.

When I heard this, my head exploded instantly. Holy crap, no way? This little caterpillar really has a crush on me?

"Hahaha, so little sister has someone in her heart. Alright, then the three of us brothers will stand up for you." The leader of the big green caterpillars said smugly.

"Wait...wait a minute," I called out hurriedly.

"What? Do you have something to say?" The big green caterpillar looked at me with its eyes gleaming, as if it meant that if I said I didn't want to, it would immediately rush up and bite me.

"N-nothing... I was just asking. What do you want? Didn't you ask for my opinion? Why are you completely ignoring my opinion?" I asked quietly from the side. I was in a weaker position right now, so I had to keep my voice down.

"Your meaning is no longer important. What matters now is what I mean. Let's just follow what I mean." The large blue worm completely disregarded my feelings and wanted to do exactly what the caterpillar wanted.

"But we're not the same species, how can we be together?" I wanted to continue resisting.

"Love knows no species, gender, or social class," the big green caterpillar said to me very seriously.

I never imagined that such a philosophical statement would come from the mouth of a big green bird.

I was so moved I almost cried. I never knew this big green caterpillar was a philosopher.

Just as I was feeling moved, a large green caterpillar crawled up behind me and urged me to crawl towards a certain place.

"What are we going to do?" I asked, puzzled.

"Marriage? Since my little sister likes you, and you like her too, of course we'll have caterpillars after we get married," the big green caterpillar behind me said casually.

Holy crap, it's giving birth to little caterpillars?! God, help me...
