Rebirth: I Became a Maggot 2

Chapter 23 I want to be quiet

Damn it, why am I so unlucky? I could have been unlucky before, it was a matter of life and death, at worst I would just die and be done with it, but this time it's different. This time I'm going to give birth to little caterpillars. Just thinking about it makes me feel nauseous, it's like living a life worse than death.

But I had no choice but to go. I was being strangled by three green bugs, so even if I wanted to run away, I couldn't, let alone outrun them.

When did I ever like that girl? When did I ever say I was going to marry her? When did we ever say we were in love? I'm about to cry.

I felt so helpless and desperate that I even thought about suicide. Just imagining myself crawling on the ground with a bunch of hybrid species that I didn't know if they were maggots or caterpillars filled me with despair.

Just then, a shout and hurried footsteps suddenly came from afar. I looked toward the source of the sound and saw that the rooster that had been chased had rushed back.

I swear, I have never been so happy to see that rooster.

"Here, here, I'm here!" I shouted frantically at the rooster.

The rooster was about to run away, but it seemed to hear my voice and looked in my direction. As soon as the rooster looked at me, the large green caterpillars next to me immediately scattered and ignored me completely.

Now I'm the only maggot left on the ground. The rooster ran over, grabbed me in its beak, and rushed out quickly.

The dog behind them was still chasing them relentlessly, and it seemed like the chase wasn't going to end anytime soon.

Because of my previous experience, I didn't say anything. What if the rooster started talking and bit me in half?

The rooster is desperately trying to escape, and I'm stuck in its beak. You can imagine how uncomfortable I am; it's even worse than riding a roller coaster!

Just when I was about to lose it, the dog suddenly rushed up and grabbed the rooster with both paws, pinning it to the ground.

"what……"

With the rooster's crow and the force of the impact, I was propelled forward by the inertia.

It rushed towards a piece of bone in front of it and got stuck inside it.

Many people may not know what a "tank bone" is. A tank bone is the bone at the joint of a pig, specifically the bone between the thigh and lower leg joints. This bone is usually used to make soup.

Then I just threw it away. I don't know who left this piece of bone here. Unfortunately, I got stuck in that bone and couldn't get out or back.

I'm almost in tears. I hope some Chinese rural dog doesn't mistake the bone for meat and eat it.

The so-called Chinese rural dog is what people call a "local dog," which is basically kept by families to prevent thieves from stealing chickens. There is no such thing as keeping pet dogs in rural areas.

Then the dog carried me back to give to a cat, and then I came out of the bone. Later, I met Spider Black, and with Spider Black's help, I was saved. That's the whole story.

That's all the things that happened to me after we broke up.

I told Dafu everything in one go, because I had no intention of being with that caterpillar.

I'm going to turn back into a human, you know. I don't want to be with any weird things. What if some monster I can't even imagine appears? Just thinking about it terrifies me.

After hearing my story, Dafu was silent for a moment before asking, "So, what are you planning to do to solve this?"

What solution? What kind of problem is this? Does this mean I really have to marry that caterpillar?

I stared at Dafu in surprise. What did that mean? Of course it meant to run away. Even if it couldn't run away, it could only try to leave this place. It wasn't about taking responsibility.

Anyway, I just don't want to take responsibility. What is all this nonsense? Do you really want me to take responsibility?

"I don't know." How am I supposed to know how to solve this situation?

Right now, I want to go to the ant's nest, find a way to turn into a fly, then find the phone to search for the mysterious girl's whereabouts, and finally turn back into a human. I have no interest in playing house with a caterpillar here.

But it seems like I can't leave unless I resolve this current situation.

"Little Fatty, you've finished telling your girlfriend the story, now it's time to give us an explanation, isn't it?" the leading green caterpillar threatened.

I looked at the big green caterpillar, then at Dafu beside me, and then at my surroundings. I was truly at my wit's end.

I'm completely at a loss. I should run, but it seems like I can't escape now.

I'll accept it, but I'd rather die than accept it.

But this awkward situation leaves me at a loss for what to do.

These damned creatures all had their eyes on me: the big green caterpillar's anger, the firefly's disdain, the caterpillar's shyness, and Dafu's reproach.

They all looked at me, waiting for my answer. If my answer didn't satisfy them, I figured I wouldn't be able to get to the ant nest tonight.

"I..." Looking at their expressions, I really didn't know what to say.

"I..." What can I say now? Willing to take responsibility? I'd rather commit suicide.

"I..." Unwilling to take responsibility? That means being hunted down, and by several large, burly green caterpillars at that.

"I just want some peace and quiet." After saying that, I fled towards the banyan tree where the ant nest was.

Run for your life! Those big green caterpillars are just caterpillars, I don't believe they can grow legs and catch up with me.

While I was telling the story, I slowly moved my position and switched places with those big green caterpillars. If I don't run now, when will I?

That Dafu really lived up to his reputation after going through so many things with me; we basically spent the entire journey on the run.

Although I can be silly sometimes, I'm not so silly when it really matters. Seeing me run, I quickly started running too.

"Why are we running away? It's only 12 cents!" Dafu, who was following behind me, asked, puzzled.

"Can I not run? If I don't run, I'll be caught and made to have kittens with those caterpillars. Of course I have to run!" I explained as I ran for my life.

The word "run" here means "run fast." From a human perspective, it would look like two maggots crawling frantically in front of them, while several large green caterpillars chase them desperately behind.

"You don't want to be with that caterpillar because of me, right?" Dafu suddenly asked as he crawled behind him.

God, I wish I could just be struck by lightning and die! What have I been encountering? I thought only ignorant young girls in the human world had crushes, but it seems like they do too in the animal kingdom.

Is it true that every female woman has this infatuation?

What kind of time is this to ask this? How big is this maggot Dafu's nerve?

I had no desire to answer Dafu's question. If it weren't for the fact that you had saved me so many times, I wouldn't bother with you at all. Of course, I was just saying that to myself as I desperately ran towards the big banyan tree.
