Chapter 203 Calculation Errors
After Shen Yi finished speaking, he took all the sausages from the table. This time he searched carefully and arranged them neatly.
He didn't mention the number he counted downstairs; he simply placed the few sausages in his hand on the table, counted them, and then remained silent.
Cheng Jingyi sat opposite Shen Yisui, whose two jacket pockets were bulging. He lifted his eyelids and asked in his usual tone, "What's wrong?"
Shen Yisui remained silent.
He paused for a moment, then said, "Give me the trash bag that you used to hold the things."
Upon hearing this, Cheng Jingyi pinched the black garbage bag that was thrown aside with his fingers. As he took it, he deliberately tore a hole in the bottom and then put it in Shen Yisui's hand.
"Give."
Shen Yi took the bag, and his palm easily felt a tear on the surface of the garbage bag. The hole wasn't large; it was possible for one or two sausages to fall out, but nearly nine were missing from the table.
Cheng Jingyi watched his every move and asked slowly, "What's wrong?"
"No." Shen Yisui tossed the trash bag aside and said, "The bag broke, so something might have fallen in."
"Oh." Cheng Jingyi's eyes crinkled into a smile. "Did you lose something?"
Shen Yisui's graying, almost white pupils turned towards Cheng Jingyi, and under the light, the other's face appeared in them, as if he were really looking at his appearance and expression.
"A few sausages fell off," Shen Yi said.
Cheng Jingyi smiled, but before he could answer, he heard Shen Yisui continue, "But that's not important, we have enough to eat now."
As Shen Yisui spoke, he cut all the remaining sausages on the table in half. He took half and pushed the rest to Cheng Jingyi.
The smile on Cheng Jingyi's lips gradually faded. His fingers were long and slender, and the small cuts on them had long since turned into scars.
Cheng Jingyi pinched the skin on her wrist, her gaze flashing over the small cuts on her hand: "If I can find the food that was thrown away, shouldn't you be more lenient with me?"
Shen Yisui paused in packing the bag. Cheng Jingyi's words were normal yet left room for interpretation, but they also made Shen Yisui feel a strange sense of unease.
Cheng Jingyi's mental state and intelligence have been unstable since she regained consciousness; sometimes she is mentally impaired, and sometimes she behaves like an ordinary person.
"How can you be so magnanimous?" Shen Yi followed up on his words, pausing as he clearly sensed Cheng Jingyi's fingers touching the cold back of his hand.
This scene was similar to some of the previous ones. Shen Yisui, who was sitting on the sofa, suddenly pulled his hand back.
"If you try to eat my finger, I'll knock your teeth out."
Cheng Jingyi's palm was empty. He made a couple of clenching motions on the table with his right hand, and his gaze toward Shen Yisui suddenly became sharp.
"Don't tie me to the bed." Cheng Jingyi's tone returned to normal, and he drawled, "It's uncomfortable."
Shen Yisui frowned, rubbing his wrist with his fingers. After a long while, he finally spoke, "So what do you want?"
"Anyway, don't tie me up," Cheng Jingyi insisted. "I won't eat you."
Shen Yisui narrowed his eyes. He sat on the sofa and pondered for a moment, his shoe accidentally stepping on a plastic bag that had fallen to the side. It was just a slight, soft rustling sound, but it unintentionally reminded Shen Yisui of certain uncertainties in his mind.
“Okay, sure,” Shen Yi said. “I won’t tie you to the bed, but your hands and feet will have to be tied. There’s no room for negotiation on that.”
Cheng Jingyi nodded in agreement and said, "Okay."
Shen Yisui didn't say anything more. He divided the items on the table, stood up, and raised his face towards Cheng Jingyi's direction: "Find those sausages. If you can't find them, there's no point in talking."
Cheng Jingyi sneered upon hearing this: "I'll go now."
He stirred up a gust of cold wind as he walked past Shen Yisui, but Shen Yisui remained expressionless and handed him another garbage bag over his head. The footsteps inside the house were clearly audible, gradually receding into the distance, revealing Cheng Jingyi's walking path.
The sound traveled through the living room, crossed the threshold of the front door, and then quickly disappeared around the corner of the stairs.
As the sound faded into the distance, Shen Yisui leaned back against a corner of the sofa.
The marks left by Cheng Jingyi's touch remained on the back of his hand. Such actions always carried a strong implication when they happened to him, so much so that every time Shen Yisui encountered such a situation, he would involuntarily think of the past.
He had just fallen into the encirclement of a horde of zombies and should have been dead long ago.
He couldn't see anything, and his supernatural abilities were completely useless under the massive attack. The already berserk zombies pounced on him and tore at him. Shen Yisui still remembered the chaotic scene. The withered grass cut his ear, and he was dragged for more than ten meters by the zombies biting his thigh.
He might be torn apart by these zombies, his internal organs pulled out, and then eaten. Or perhaps, they would simply devour him alive.
Shen Yisui had long lost the ability to struggle. He lay on the ground that could almost crack him, and as his life slipped away, he suddenly heard a whistle.
The zombies surrounding him were on high alert; they scattered and fled, leaving Shen Yisui exposed in the open space once again.
Shen Yisui originally thought that the person who came to rescue him was someone from the military. His eyes were full of blood, and he kept thanking the person while clinging to their back.
"Thank you... thank you..."
He didn't know that it was Cheng Jingyi, nor that he was the new zombie leader, the successor to the zombie king.
Cheng Jingyi deliberately didn't say anything. It seemed he was intentionally watching Shen Yisui struggle, watching him bewildered and helpless, watching him have nowhere to escape, and ultimately being forced to live with him in the zombie-infested area, reaching a dead end.
"Shen Yisui, in this place, who else can save you besides me?" Cheng Jingyi's fingers habitually hooked around Shen Yisui's palm. He smiled, but under the table, the tip of his shoe mercilessly stepped on Shen Yisui's instep. "You can take the initiative. Don't make me worry."
Shen Yisui had never been exposed to such things before. He had followed Shen Yu since he was a child and knew nothing about the relationships between men.
Cheng Jingyi's decision to save him was ultimately nothing more than lust at first sight.
During the months they spent together, Cheng Jingyi praised Shen Yisui's superior appearance and well-behaved manner on more than one occasion.
He wanted to keep a canary, and Shen Yisui was the bird that caught his eye. He kept him in a cage and played with him, completely disregarding Shen Yisui's wishes.
This is both a rescue and a form of imprisonment.
And it all began with Shen Yisui's cute-looking face.
Shen Yisui sat on the edge of the sofa, his fingers touching his face, vaguely feeling the pain hidden beneath the surface of his skin.
He gave a mocking laugh for no apparent reason and closed his eyes.
A few rustling sounds came from outside the door. Shen Yisui's fingertips twitched slightly at the sound, and he subconsciously asked, "You're back so soon?"
The person standing at the door did not answer. Shen Yisui had just opened his mouth when all the sounds suddenly stopped, even the breathing stopped, as if they had never existed in the air.
Shen Yisui vaguely sensed the smoke and ash drifting in from outside, mixed in with an indescribable smell of blood.
Shen Yisui's eyes trembled. He gripped the glass on the table, which still contained the sewage from the bathroom that he had deliberately poured in earlier.
"...Cheng Jingyi?"
No one answered his voice. Shen Yisui frowned and tightened his palm, causing the sewage inside the glass to quickly cool and freeze, slowly transforming into an attack shape.
A hush fell over the room; the people inside remained silent, locked in a tense standoff.
"eat."
A dozen seconds later, heavy footsteps echoed from the stairwell. Cheng Jingyi's muttered words reached Shen Yisui's ears, and then the doorbell rang. He strode across the threshold and walked towards Shen Yisui.
As the person approached, Shen Yisui caught a faint scent of smoke, the same as the one that had lingered around Cheng Jingyi before, and it hadn't changed.
Shen Yisui gripped the water glass tightly, refusing to let go: "Where did you just go?"
After Cheng Jingyi returned, he sat cross-legged opposite Shen Yisui again. Hearing this, he looked at Shen Yisui and said, "Let me go find Chang."
As he spoke, Shen Yisui inexplicably smelled that fishy, pungent odor again.
He frowned and said to Cheng Jingyi, "Come here."
Cheng Jingyi was somewhat confused. At this moment, he was quite obedient and squatted down next to Shen Yisui.
Shen Yi casually touched Cheng Jingyi's chin, which was still relatively dry, without any saliva or dampness. Cheng Jingyi felt Shen Yi's fingers touching his lips, and without hesitation, he deliberately parted his lips a crack.
Shen Yisui did indeed press his lips down, and he inserted his fingers inside, carefully touching Cheng Jingyi's lower teeth with his fingertips.
Cheng Jingyi narrowed his eyes, his teeth itching, and stared directly at Shen Yisui, suppressing his tongue as he pressed it against his palate.
Shen Yisui leaned closer to smell the smell inside Cheng Jingyi's mouth. It was normal, with no strange odor.
"There might be zombie corpses outside. The flesh is rotten; don't eat it." Shen Yisui pulled his hand back. "Did you find the item?"
Cheng Jingyi rubbed his slightly sore chin. Shen Yisui looked thin, but he was quite strong. He had just used so much force that he had forced Cheng Jingyi to open his mouth wide, and Cheng Jingyi felt pain.
“Found them, only six.” Cheng Jingyi took out a few sausages from his shirt pocket and put them on the table. He imitated Shen Yisui’s previous manner and said, “We’ll split them in half, you get three and I get three.”
As he spoke, he picked out his favorite flavor and stuffed it back into his pocket.
Shen Yisui remained silent. He had calculated the time when Cheng Jingyi left. They were on the third floor, and it would take Cheng Jingyi at least one or two minutes to go out and come back, not to mention that he still had to go back to the original supermarket to find food.
But he returned in less than a minute.
They also brought back six sausages.
Shen Yisui knew without even thinking what he had done.
Find a corner, eat three sausages to fill your stomach first, and then bring the rest back to collect your reward.
No one is as smart as him.
Shen Yisui pinched the surface of the sausage packaging and didn't argue with him.
Cheng Jingyi wasn't thin, and he usually needed to eat a lot to replenish his energy. If he wanted to repair the gunshot wounds on his body, he would need even more food.
Moreover, this time when he went out alone, at least he didn't go looking for rotting corpses to eat, which Shen Yisui considered an improvement.
"Cheng Jingyi, was anyone in the room just now? I think I heard something." Shen Yisui moved closer to Cheng Jingyi again. He lowered his head and sniffed at Cheng Jingyi's collar, and vaguely smelled the blood that had been mixed in with the air before.
Cheng Jingyi glanced at his leather shoes. He had stepped on some dirt and a strange smell when he went out.
Knowing that Shen Yisui had a keen sense of smell, he paused for a moment before saying, "No, I just got back and didn't see anyone else."
Shen Yisui was somewhat suspicious. He pinched Cheng Jingyi's collar between his fingers and slowly rubbed the high-end fabric.
“But I just went downstairs and saw a few more zombies,” Cheng Jingyi said. “They were all dead. I didn’t eat them.”
Shen Yi paused, then asked, "Dead?"
Cheng Jingyi gave a vague "hmm".
He had originally planned to just go downstairs to go through the motions and maybe tear off a couple of sausages to eat himself. But when he caught a glimpse of the zombie corpses out of the corner of his eye, Cheng Jingyi felt it was a pity and prepared to go forward and extract the crystal cores from their brains.
The crystal cores of low-level zombies don't contain much energy, but in this situation, having more to eat is still better.
But the crystal cores in the brains of those zombies had already been removed. Cheng Jingyi went over there to check the situation, but unexpectedly found nothing and returned with a stench of blood on her feet.
He glanced at Shen Yisui, who asked in an ambiguous tone, "How did they die?"
"I don't know," Cheng Jingyi shook her head. "I didn't eat them."
Shen Yisui: "..."
He understood the implication in Cheng Jingyi's words, and after a moment of silence, he deliberately asked, "Why didn't you eat them?"
"They stink."
"..." Shen Yisui found it somewhat amusing. "Then why did you eat me? My body is like this now, it will rot and stink even more later."
"It doesn't smell now."
After Cheng Jingyi finished speaking, he started biting Shen Yisui's clothes again. He had been beaten several times before, so he would not bite Shen Yisui's skin easily anymore. Instead, he chose to bite the fabric of his clothes instead.
"fragrant."
Shen Yisui: "..."
He seemed thoughtful after hearing this.
Cheng Jingyi, this zombie, is not completely zombified yet. He still has half of a human consciousness and senses inside him. Although he does not like to eat rotten flesh, he is willing to eat raw meat.
Shen Yisui pulled his sleeve back, revealing that two of the buttons on it had been bitten off by Cheng Jingyi. He didn't care and simply tore the buttons off and threw them aside.
"I only have this one shirt. If you chew it up, I'll wear yours." Shen Yi said, standing up. "Where are you eating?"
Cheng Jingyi licked his teeth, stuffed all the food piled in front of him into a plastic bag, and carried it back to his previous small room.
Shen Yi followed behind him and suddenly felt Cheng Jingyi stop walking.
"Mine." A warning sound rose in Cheng Jingyi's throat.
Shen Yi remained motionless, feeling that Cheng Jingyi's possessive behavior was simply too egregious: "This path only leads to your room? I can't walk down it?"
Cheng Jingyi didn't answer. He held the trash bag in his hand and stood in the doorway, staring intently at Shen Yisui.
