NBA's King of Talking

Chapter 7 Crossover: Half a Day of Cooking

Kemba Walker, who was not far away, witnessed what had just happened. If Jia Fei's dunk was accidental, then this second pass in mid-air was not. This play seemed simple, but it required an extremely high level of hang time from the player. Many people think that they can do the same moves in a game in real life, but that's just wishful thinking.

Jia Fei and his men continued their attack...

Jia Fei was truly overjoyed. This body, after incorporating Iverson's physical talents, was simply phenomenal. Moves he could only perform in games before, he could now do. The feeling of being able to do whatever he wanted in the air was incredibly exhilarating.

He can now understand what it felt like when Jordan and other high-flying players used their incredible hang time to outmaneuver their opponents in the air. In basketball, talent can sometimes really make you do whatever you want.

On this side, Lamb, facing Kemba Walker's defense, still missed his fadeaway jumper... The effects of his earlier barrage of shots were still lingering... The post-coital effect had worn off, but his legs were definitely weak.

Fortunately, Art Mayork grabbed the offensive rebound and went up for a strong shot, but he missed!

But then, to their horror, Oriac and Napier discovered that, before they had fully realized it, Jaf had taken off again…

And this time, he jumped even higher than before!

At this moment, no one could stop the man. He grabbed the backboard with one hand in mid-air, drew back the bowstring taut, and slammed the ball in!

The rim shook violently, demonstrating the immense impact of Jia Fei's putback dunk.

Kemba Walker, standing not far away, was utterly dumbfounded. He finally understood why Jia Fei had been so confident and composed when telling him about participating in this year's NBA draft—this guy had secretly become so strong! Good heavens! That jumping power, that speed, that hang time—it was like he was a completely different person from the Jia Fei he knew.

"Oh my god, Ja, you absolutely have to take a urine test after the game, you're not normal!" Kemba Walker joked with a laugh.

Jia Fei smiled slightly. Had he already won his teammates' trust? Of course, that was obvious!

Jia Fei and his teammates continued their attack, passing the ball to Art Mayok in the low post. Mayok's turnaround jump shot missed! As an inside player, his technique was still somewhat rough. Despite training at UConn for so long, he still hadn't developed a consistent post-up offensive ability. Sometimes it's all about talent. How old was Hakeem Olajuwon when he started playing? A few years of training and he could dominate his opponent. Sometimes comparing yourself to others is just infuriating.

Oriak grabbed the rebound, but his pass to Napier was a little weak, and Jia Fei quickly stole it!

Jia Fei, holding the ball, faced Napier; he wanted to try something different.

As everyone knows, Allen Iverson's signature offensive move is his crossover. His crossover is unparalleled, and its effect on the court and its entertainment value are like a nuclear weapon, which has become his personal trademark.

There's a saying that goes, "Everyone knows Iverson's crossover is to the right, but you just can't defend him..." This is indeed a huge challenge for defenders.

At this moment, Jia Fei wanted to try this move and see what the effect would be. He recalled Iverson's technique when he used this move, from adjusting his center of gravity under his legs before the crossover to the feint, going through it all from beginning to end.

Kemba Walker, who was not far away, was clapping. They naturally wouldn't go to help defend; they all wanted to see what other jaw-dropping moves Jia Fei would make today.

Napier was very focused, wondering to himself if Jia Fei was on drugs today. He felt like he was fighting against a Gundam, and he couldn't even smell the other's armpit odor...

Jia Fei dribbled the ball between his legs repeatedly. When the ball reached his left side, he suddenly paused and immediately changed direction, pulling the ball forcefully to the right with his left hand, followed by a sharp change of direction!

But a strange thing happened: because he used too much force, his right hand failed to catch the ball, and the ball unsurprisingly fell out of bounds.

This... it's over so quickly? I've already taken my pants off, and you're saying it's already over?

Jia Fei gave an awkward laugh, while Napier, who was defending him, stood there dumbfounded. "This is your Crossover after all that cooking?"

"Sorry, I made a mistake!" Jia Fei apologized to his two teammates; he had indeed made a mistake. This mistake made him clearly realize that he had only integrated Iverson's physical talents, and the integration of his idol's peak skills was still 0%. With his current technical ability, he was not yet able to complete such a high-level technical move.

Lamb and Art Mayor naturally wouldn't blame Jia Fei. If it weren't for Jia Fei's mistake, they would have really thought that Jia Fei had cheated today. Was this still the same average Asian wing Jia Fei that they knew?

The day's three-on-three practice ended amidst exclamations of amazement and laughter. The outcome wasn't important; it was just a warm-up and some fun among old teammates, a way to commemorate the occasion. Since Kemba Walker and others announced their intention to enter the draft after winning the NCAA championship, it's likely these teammates will have few opportunities to play together again.

All good things must come to an end, a sentiment Jia Fei deeply felt. In his student days, graduation was always bittersweet, but once graduation was over, many classmates were never seen again for the rest of their lives.

After taking a shower, Kemba Walker found Jia Fei and said very seriously, "Jia, given your current condition, I think you have a very good chance of participating in the draft in a few months!"

"Thank you for your kind words!" Jia Fei smiled and extended his hand.

“We will all be selected!” Kemba Walker gripped his hand tightly.

Jia Fei certainly hoped for this. Unlike Kemba Walker and others, he really needed a contract. If he weren't making money through basketball, given his current situation, the most suitable job for him would probably be carrying bricks on a construction site...

As Jia Fei lay in bed that night, he recalled the events of the day. The three-on-three game played in his mind like a movie, replaying over and over again. He wasn't dwelling on his stylish dunks and brilliant passes, but rather reflecting on his weaknesses.

He certainly possesses Iverson's physical gifts now, which makes his moves much easier, but that doesn't mean he's invincible. Take the daytime game, for example; in one-on-one situations, he didn't have an easy time against opponents like the shorter Napier or the taller Oriak.

The original owner was a defensively-oriented, role-playing wing player. His main scoring methods on offense were spot-up shooting, fast breaks, and occasional catch-and-shoot drives. In short, he was a 3-and-D wing player.
