The socially awkward villain's furry superpower
Chapter 6 You need to take a shower
Sienna glanced at Teddy, then looked up at the older woman behind the counter.
She hated queuing to order food. She never knew what she wanted. The pressure of social interaction kept building until she was at the front of the line, where she had to make a choice before the people behind her got angry.
The pressure was unbelievable; she had always envied those who could easily walk to the counter and clearly state their order.
Do they really know exactly what they want? Don't they care that choosing the wrong option might cost them more money than expected, or that the taste might not be as good as they hoped?
The woman stared at her, and she cleared her throat. The woman raised one eyebrow, as if asking if she planned to order before sunset.
“Hmm… I’d like a medium black coffee, and two servings of chicken… two chicken wraps. And, uh, half a dozen donuts, let her choose the flavors.” She pointed at Teddy.
Sienna pretended not to feel guilty for putting the salesgirl in a difficult situation.
“That’s so cool,” Teddy said. “Half a dozen is six, right?”
Sienna nodded. "Then I'll take six candied fruit flavored ones."
The woman blinked, entered her order into the machine, and then had Sienna tap her phone on the card reader. "Please stand aside and wait; your meal will be ready soon."
"Thanks,"
It wasn't until Sienna reached the end of the counter that she realized she hadn't ordered a drink for Teddy. "Um...would you like something to drink?"
"Need not."
This... actually saved her some trouble.
About five minutes later, Sienna and Teddy headed back to their dormitory.
Sienna couldn't help but wonder, would this even qualify as a place to live for Teddy? How do other superpowered individuals deal with the people they summon?
Are Teddy bears considered citizens?
“Well… uh,” Sienna asked, “do you remember what happened before you were summoned?”
"I don't remember." Teddy bounced around beside her, clutching the still-warm box of donuts tightly to his chest.
This makes things much simpler.
Teddy wasn't kidnapped by her superpowers.
That would be terrible; Sienna would have to run to the heroes to explain everything and hope they wouldn't punish her too harshly for what she did with her superpowers.
Or is Teddy someone whose memories were erased after being abducted? Or is she some kind of robot? An alien? A clone?
Sienna kept an eye on the girl bouncing around beside her. With each step Teddy took, his ears twitched excitedly, and a happy little smile graced his face, obvious to everyone.
This girl looks pretty good.
Sienna was willing to try to develop a relationship with her, which she felt would definitely be easier than trying to talk to a normal person.
Teddy is somewhat obedient to her, like...like a pet.
Sienna shook her head.
No, that's not the right way to think. She's a person, even if she's created by superpowers, she's not a pet.
It's not the younger sister, is it? That's the name of that superpower: Sister Summoning Technique.
It's not super speed, flight, or any great ability like healing, but that's what Sienna has.
She wasn't sure if she wanted that ability.
Of course, everyone dreams of having superpowers and becoming a hero.
Even Sienna had similar dreams a few times when she was a child. When she watched superhero cartoons as a child, it was hard not to imagine herself wearing a bodysuit and moving between rooftops.
Maybe not wearing tight clothes is fine too, who knows?
She tried to focus again, but her thoughts became increasingly scattered as she had to consider all these possibilities at the same time.
“Hey, boss?” Teddy asked.
Sienna looked down at the girl. "Hmm?"
"What tasks do we have to complete today?"
“No, Teddy, I don’t think so,” Sienna replied. All the missions she’d been given were…not very good.
“Okay,” Teddy said, “so what do we do next?”
Sienna wished she knew. "I...I'll think about it some more."
Teddy looked up at her, his innocent face showing none of the doubt Sienna had sensed. "Okay, after dinner, can I take a nap?"
She nodded. "Of course."
After arriving at the dormitory, they squeezed into the elevator as quickly as possible.
Sienna didn't want anyone to suspect Teddy's existence.
The dormitory has clear rules against allowing outsiders to stay overnight, but she suspects that others are not following these rules.
Sienna swiped her phone, and the two of them were safely inside her small room.
Teddy rushed to her desk and placed the box of donuts on it. Just as she was about to tear open the top of the box, Sienna stopped her. "No. Not yet. Let's eat first and save these for dessert."
Teddy looked at Sienna with his big, watery eyes, "Just one..."
Teddy's smile touched Sienna's heart, but that smile turned to fear when Teddy took a flattened donut from the box and stuffed it into her mouth.
Sienna has severe obsessive-compulsive disorder and germaphobia.
She chewed with her mouth open, her hands covered in honey.
Sienna was momentarily at a loss, but quickly calmed down. She ran to the bathroom, took a wet wipe from her toiletries, and rinsed it under cold water.
A moment later, she came to Teddy's side and wiped the girl's face.
"Boss! What are you doing?" Teddy protested.
“I just want you to keep clean,” Sienna said. “Could you…go wash your hands?”
Teddy grumbled and stomped his feet as he went to wash his hands.
Sienna ignored her, placed the chicken wrap on the desk, then took out her laptop and opened it. She had a lot to look up.
After Teddy returned, the two of them started eating soon after, with only the occasional sound of typing on the laptop keyboard breaking the silence.
Sienna had so much to learn that she felt the need to make another list.
She took out her notebook, found the list she had made that morning, and couldn't help but click her tongue, because only half of the items on it were completed.
Her new list is a little different:
1. Find out what happens to people with superpowers.
2. Learn how to get rid of the villain identity.
3. Find ways to care for Teddy.
4. Call Mom
She thought it was a good list, at least better than the last one.
Sienna nodded, put the laptop aside, and pulled it closer.
"Is that a dog?" Teddy asked, looking at Sienna's computer desktop background photo.
Actually, it was a big dog grinning.
“Yes,” she said.
“You should get a bear, they’re better and cuter,” Teddy gestured.
Sienna nodded perfunctorily. Although she didn't think the bear was cuter, she didn't want to hurt Teddy's feelings.
She first opened her browser, ignoring the eighteen cute animal website tags that she had already set up.
She started searching online, first eliminating search results that led to government websites, and then focusing on questions asked by ordinary people on old forums.
It's difficult to get a straightforward answer.
Most people are discussing hypothetical scenarios, and the few who claim to have superpowers seem highly suspicious.
Even if they were truly experienced, all they would do is redirect people back to those official government websites, which are essentially designed to direct people to contact some official channel.
"Finished!"
Sienna glanced to the side and saw an almost empty donut box next to a torn piece of chicken wrapper.
There was half a donut left in the box.
More accurately, it's a little over one-third.
“I saved you a piece, boss,” Teddy said with another smile smeared with candied fruit syrup.
“Well… thank you,” Sienna said.
"You're welcome. I'm going to sleep now."
The girl started walking towards Sienna's bed, but Sienna was faster, reaching out and pressing her hand on the top of her head. "Take a shower first, you need to take a shower first."
Teddy slumped her head. "But I don't want to get wet," she said.
“I’ll give you a big T-shirt, and, well, some underwear, so you can wear it after you shower, and then you can go to sleep, okay?” Sienna asked.
She needs to find a mattress for the girl as soon as possible, but for now she can only make do with what she has.
Teddy muttered a few words, but did not disobey. Sienna then ran around looking for clothes that the girl could wear after taking a shower.
As the bathroom door closed and Sienna heard the sound of running water, she returned to the search page and noticed her email icon flashing.
She clicked on it, thinking she would receive an email from the school, or maybe from her mother; at worst, it would be an advertisement that had bypassed the spam filter.
