The socially awkward villain's furry superpower

Sienna's first class was an introduction to literature, and well, it went... fairly smoothly.
She arrived at the classroom with only fifteen minutes left, but there were still many empty seats in the back row. She put down her bag and placed her laptop on the small table attached to the armrest of her seat, hoping that the screen would create a barrier between her and the outside world.
The professor was talking to a young man, whom she guessed was a teaching assistant. A little while later, the young man called out to her and asked her what her name was.
She stammered out "Sienna Isabella," and that was all she could say. He simply noted it down without comment, then went to the door to record the names of the people who were coming in.
She hoped that she would only need to say this much in this class.
Taking notes with a word processing software is quite easy, which gives her some free time.
For some reason, she opened the homepage of the "Writeit" website, but instead of looking at the cute animal pictures, she stared at a post that was at the very top.
You've Become a Superpowered Person, What Should You Do Now?
She bit her lower lip and clicked the link.
There's no harm in taking a look. The post already has several thousand comments; it's not too surprising that she clicked on it.
Sienna, in any case, felt that she had nothing suspicious about her, and she hoped so.
Most of the post was about contacting the government for help, but it sounded a bit suspicious to her.
However, there are also some good suggestions inside.
Your superpower will make the choices for you. You don't know what power you will receive, and generally, it will be very weak at first.
It will also push you in a certain moral direction; you may not become a hero when you first gain superpowers.
There are far more levels of morality than you might imagine. Most people don't start at the extremes, but rather around the middle of the scale. By completing good deeds, you can elevate your standing.
The general classification is as follows:
Savior
superheroes
hero
Good people
Antihero
The gray area (both righteous and evil)
Sienna bit her lip.
The rest of the post wasn't as helpful, but it seemed to point her to something she could actually do: doing good deeds could help her move away from the villains and into... the gray areas, etc.
She can do that.
She has never committed a crime, never cheated, never jaywalked, and even feels guilty if she doesn't donate a dollar to charity while shopping at a grocery store.
Her mother is a lifelong volunteer at every porridge distribution point in the community and a strong advocate for helping others, always teaching her to care for others.
This made Sienna realize that not being a villain... was feasible; she just needed to be more proactive.
Before she knew it, the school bell rang and class began. She temporarily put aside her worries about being a villain.
Most of the class covered admission guidance regarding credits, textbooks, and the submission deadlines and methods for papers and assignments.
However, the professor did give a good lecture, and Sienna quite liked it.
There will be some group work modules later this year, but she feels she can handle them.
She had completed a group project in high school, and now her partners are all adults, which makes things a little better.
Then the bell rang, and the class ended.
Sienna waited until almost everyone in the classroom had left before packing her laptop and other belongings into her bag.
If every class could be like this, she felt she might have a good time here, and maybe she could even make a friend.
Or perhaps she was being too optimistic.
The teaching building where we take the Introduction to Literature class is an old building, one of the original stone buildings that has stood the test of time.
Like most of the other solemn academic buildings, it was located near the center of the campus. Although they were old, they all possessed a timeless elegance. She could imagine gentlemen in top hats walking alongside her in the same sacred corridors.
Stepping out of the teaching building and basking in the bright evening sunlight felt wonderful. There were many people around, but they were all busy with their own things.
Sienna kept her head down, avoiding eye contact with anyone, simply enjoying the fresh air and sunshine as she began to walk towards her dormitory.
"Hey, boss."
Sienna was startled, then turned around to see who was calling her.
Before she could see clearly that it was a short, chubby Teddy wearing shorts and a T-shirt, with his boots tied crookedly, standing in the middle of the road as if she had the right to stand there, she already had some guesses in her mind.
“What…what are you doing here?” Sienna said. She quickly covered her mouth with her hand. Could anyone hear her?
Sienna felt her heart sink as several people looked in her direction. She had to leave this entrance, or even leave the campus altogether.
What if someone notices Teddy's ears? They're not that prominent, but they might be mistaken for some kind of decoration, and Sienna can't afford to take that risk.
She grabbed the girl's hand and started pulling her forward, trying to suppress the blush rising on her cheeks. She felt like a mother leading a child, or an older sister.
She hoped others wouldn't think she was the former, because bringing a child to college would ruin her reputation.
"We...we need to have a serious talk. We'll talk as soon as we get back to the dorm."
“But boss,” Teddy said pitifully, pointing to his stomach, “I’m hungry.”
Sienna swallowed.
Has she been neglecting the child? In this respect, she's a terrible person.
"Well... let's eat something first."
Hearing that it was time to eat, Teddy smiled happily, a smile that stirred a conflict within Sienna.
This reminded her of the few times her father had smiled at her because she had done something to please him, except that Teddy's canines were much bigger.
Sienna led the little bear girl toward the end of the campus, where there was a restaurant called "Little Im Orton" run by a school club.
She and her mother stopped there when they first visited. Everything there was much more expensive than it should be, but she could splurge occasionally.
Moreover, she really needs a cup of coffee right now.
“Well… um,” Sienna began, then stopped, unsure where to begin.
She had read something about superpowers before: generally speaking, superpowers are helpful to their owners, regardless of their allegiance.
Those who can control fire will not be burned by their own flames, and those who can create servants will not be intentionally harmed by their own servants.
Is Teddy a servant? She seems... quite normal.
"What's wrong, boss?" Teddy asked.
“You shouldn’t call me boss,” Sienna said.
“We can’t call you Sienna,” Teddy said. “What if someone hears your name when we rob a bank?”
Sienna felt a little dizzy. "No! Don't rob a bank, please...we...we won't do anything bad, okay?"
Teddy frowned. "What about earning points and completing tasks?"
“Tasks that only do good deeds and don’t harm others,” Sienna said.
"Will robbery hurt anyone?" Teddy asked.
Sienna had a bad feeling. "Yes, Teddy, robbery can cause a lot of harm to others."
"Oh! Why didn't you say so sooner? If I had known this would happen, I shouldn't have tried to steal that person's things."
Sienna stopped and quickly looked around, finding a nice alley between the two buildings, which made it easy to pull Teddy in.
"What...what did you do?" she asked.
Teddy smiled, but there was a hint of confusion in his eyes. "I received a mission today to hurt someone, but I was hungry, so I didn't take it."
Then she received another mission to rob someone, but she only managed to rob one person and earned one point. She nodded proudly.
Sienna was trembling all over.
Do I need to use up my points?
“No!” Sienna said. “No, Teddy, no.”
"What did I do wrong?" Teddy asked, looking aggrieved.
Sienna nodded. "Robbery, it's a terrible thing, Teddy, really terrible."
“I should have taken the first mission back then,” Teddy muttered.
Sienna felt as if someone had just turned off gravity, and perhaps lowered the bar for common sense as well. "Oh, Teddy," she said.
She wanted to get angry, and to make matters worse, Teddy looked quite proud, just like Sienna had when she "helped" her mother with the laundry and ended up fading all of her father's shirts.
“Hurting others… isn’t good either,” Sienna said. “No, wait, I don’t know how to tell you this, but… it’s not your fault. Let’s go back to the dorm and get something to eat, and then I’ll explain everything to you, okay?”
“Okay, boss,” Teddy said.
At least when it comes to food, Teddy's mood seems to rise easily.
