Chapter 219 The Strange Wooden Box

The atmosphere in Isabella's house suddenly became heavy, as the "Endgame" news broadcast on television loomed over everyone like a dark cloud.

Sienna stared at the television, which was now muted, her mind racing.

In Eau Claire's history, every "endgame" event has been accompanied by tremendous upheaval and change. What kind of storm will this one bring?

Just then, the doorbell rang. Sienna got up and looked through the peephole, only to find no one outside.

She carefully opened the door and saw an old-fashioned wooden box on the doorway. Cautiously, she took the box inside and placed it on the table.

The sisters gathered around, their eyes filled with curiosity and doubt.

Sienna slowly opened the wooden box, inside which were three items neatly arranged: a vault key with bullet holes, a bloodstained hero's badge, and a metal plate engraved with "The End Is Coming." Upon seeing these items, the sisters all gasped.

"What are all these?" Teddy's eyes widened as he reached for the badge.

Maple frowned, carefully examining the vault key: "This key looks very old, and the bullet holes seem to have been left intentionally, as if they are hinting at something. And this badge, the bloodstains are dark in color, not like fresh blood."

Athena crossed her arms: "And this 'The End Is Coming' is definitely related to the 'End' event mentioned on TV just now. Who sent it? And what is their purpose?"

Sienna fell into deep thought. The downfall of Rattles had already reshuffled the underground forces in O'Clair City. Now, with the appearance of these three mysterious gifts, could it be that a new force is sending some kind of signal?

At this moment, Aurora broke the silence: "In any case, we need to figure out what these things mean. Perhaps the vault corresponding to this key holds an important clue, or this badge can lead us to the person connected to it."

Sienna nodded: "Aurora is right. Maple, you know more about mechanics and locks, see if you can find any clues about the vault from this key."

Athena, go and investigate this hero's badge. See if you can find out which hero it belongs to and why it's stained with blood.

Teddy, you and Trinity are in charge of keeping an eye on the rumors and developments in town lately. You might be able to find some information related to 'The End Is Coming'.

I'll contact Handshaw and Yezebel to see if they've heard anything about it.

The sisters nodded in agreement. Maple Leaf sat at the workbench, carefully examining the vault key with a magnifying glass.

The key was engraved with strange patterns, like some kind of ancient symbol. She tried to decipher their meaning. After some effort, she finally found similar symbols in a book about the early architecture of Eau Claire.

A few days later……

“Boss, I think I’ve found some clues,” Maple Leaf shouted excitedly. “These symbols represent an abandoned bank vault in the eastern suburbs of the city.”

It is said that the bank was destroyed in a major battle many years ago, but the vault was preserved.

However, there have always been rumors that the vault is cursed, and that anyone who enters it meets a terrible end.

Sienna frowned: "Whether there's a curse or not, we have to go and see."

Perhaps the key to solving all these mysteries lies hidden in the vault. Athena, how about you over there?

Athena's expression turned solemn: "This badge belongs to a hero who has been missing for many years, named Mothman."

He was once one of the guardians of the city of Auclair, but disappeared without a trace after a battle with evil forces.

I've learned that his disappearance seems to be related to a mysterious organization, and this organization may be connected to the current 'Endgame' event.

Sienna pondered for a moment: "It seems there's some connection between these two things. Teddy, what about you and Trinity? Have you heard anything useful?"

Teddy scratched his head: "There's been a lot of talk about the 'Endgame' event in town lately. They say it could be a huge disaster that will plunge Auclair into utter ruin."

But we haven't heard anything special about these three things yet. However, boss, I think this is a capitalist conspiracy.

Sienna nodded: "Alright, in that case, let's go check out the vault in the eastern suburbs first. Everyone be careful, we don't know what dangers might be inside."

The women packed their gear and carefully set off towards the eastern suburbs of the city.

The atmosphere was tense and oppressive throughout the journey. The sky was overcast with dark clouds, and a light drizzle was falling, looking as if a downpour could break out at any moment.

When they arrived at the ruins of the abandoned bank in the eastern suburbs, the surroundings were deathly silent.

The dilapidated building swayed precariously in the wind, overgrown with weeds. The vault door was hidden behind a pile of rubble, covered in dust and cobwebs.

Sienna took out the key with the bullet hole and inserted it into the lock. With a dull thud, the vault door slowly opened. A musty smell wafted out, sending a chill down one's spine.

They cautiously entered the vault, which was dark and gloomy.

Maple Leaf turned on her flashlight, illuminating the surroundings. Inside the vault were some worn-out boxes and cabinets, indicating that no one had been there for a long time.

"Everyone be careful, look around and see if there's anything important," Sienna said softly.

The sisters scattered and began searching the vault. Suddenly, Trinity screamed, "Ah! There's a skeleton here!"

"Don't make a fuss, it's just a skeleton. Red warriors shouldn't be afraid of these things; they're all just low-class schemes by capitalists," Teddy reassured him.

The crowd quickly gathered around and saw a skeleton lying in a corner, still wearing decaying clothes. Beside the skeleton was a tattered diary.

Sienna carefully picked up the diary, blew off the dust, and opened it. The writing was somewhat blurred, but still barely legible. The diary's owner appeared to be a bank employee from years ago, recording the scene of the bank's attack.

It turns out that the Mothman fought a mysterious organization for an important treasure, which was hidden in this vault. During the battle, the Mothman was seriously injured, the mysterious organization stole the treasure, and the bank employee was locked in the vault, where he eventually died.

“It seems this mysterious organization is closely related to the Mothman’s disappearance and this ‘Endgame’ event,” Sienna said. “We need to find this mysterious organization as soon as possible and stop their conspiracy.”

Just then, a strange sound came from inside the vault. It was as if something was moving in the darkness. The sisters immediately became alert and stood back to back.

Suddenly, a group of dark figures rushed out from all directions. These figures were agile, their faces obscured, and they carried gleaming blades.

"It's an assassin!" Sienna shouted, and the sisters quickly engaged in battle.

Maple Leaf uses her tools to find weaknesses in the assassins; Athena uses her wisdom to outmaneuver the enemy; Teddy and Aurora are not to be outdone, relying on their brute strength to confront the assassins head-on; Trinity skillfully dodges the assassins' attacks and uses her other clones to find opportunities to counterattack.

After a fierce battle, the sisters finally repelled the assassins. But they were all exhausted.

“These assassins must have been sent by that mysterious organization. They don’t want us to discover the secrets in the vault,” Sienna said, panting.

"So what do we do next?" Teddy asked.

Sienna pondered for a moment: "Let's go back to the city and continue investigating the whereabouts of the mysterious organization. Since they're so afraid of us discovering the truth, it means we're getting closer and closer to the truth."

The sisters nodded and, taking the clues they had obtained from the vault, left the eastern suburbs.

Back in the city, they continued to inquire about the mysterious organization. With Handshaw's help, they finally learned an important clue—suspicious people were frequently seen entering and leaving an abandoned factory in the city.

Sienna decided to lead her sisters to investigate the abandoned factory. That night, they quietly sneaked in. A pungent odor filled the air, and the faint roar of machinery could be heard.

They cautiously made their way through the factory when they suddenly heard voices.

"The 'Endgame' plan is ready. We're just waiting for the right moment to take control of the entire Auclair!"

"Those girls have found the vault. Should we send more people to deal with them?"

"No need, they can't cause any trouble. The final outcome will inevitably happen, and everything will be under the control of the Shadow Council."
